On a sad note, SJ Fast aka John Josephson who contributed many photos and comments to this thread passed away at his home in Duluth, Minnesota, on Friday February 5.

Here's another one of those Wolfie at Midwest Speedway shots.

Bob Consani Hardtop. Looks like Vallejo Speedway? Figured I'd sneak this one in.

Showtime Danny Sheridan. I have this as my wallpaper. Best sprint car shot I've come across IMO.

It looks to me like the shot of GP in the 3c car was at Knoxville during the Nationals.
|
That is G.P at the nationals with Hans and Peter Paulson working on the car. The three of them are, were all good friends.

Scruffy as a pup!

Looking at the background of this shot.....just across the hood of the 1a, I believe that's Jon Singer, Opp's Chief Wrench, and sitting on the RR of the 4x would be his sidekick commonly known as "Tort".
Also...check out Allen's hub cap on the RR, isn't that the same kind of symbol that Scott Bloomquist still uses today?
DANG....those were the days!!

I shot this at the Iowa State Fair Aug. 21, 1977.
My notes say Jimmy Riggens leading Ralph Blackett in the #40 and Mike Brooks in the #12.

GO WINGLESS when men drove with there head and foot and not the tires and wings . they drove with what they had never worried about things they couldn't control. I guess that why i am drawn to vintage racing and times long gone, THANKS ALL for the great pics. Lets keep them coming even just for memories
