Knobby tires and body english! At least the crowd's well protected! I wonder what engine's in that? Could it be a Harley with Drake water cooled cylinders? Awesome pics!

Dayton '67. Johnny Rutherford in the 99. Can anyone ID other drivers, or the engines in the 2 rear cars? Inside looks like a hemi, maybe a Caddy or Olds in the 93?

I'm not sure who the guy on the low side in back is but the car on the fence is the Iddings Auto Glass car and was probably being driven by Sonny Ates.

The #55 was most likely the Long Brothers Special owned by Don and Dean Long. Up until 1967, the car was driven by my Dad, Mack Clingan. Not sure who would've been driving it in 1970.
The #55 was originally built for my father by Charlie Aufeiter - one of only two - the other was built for Lou Blaney. The Long Brothers approached my Dad about buying the car after Dad drove it on it's maiden voyage. They bought the car and Dad drove for them until he broke his neck at William's Grove during hot laps in 1967.
More info than you were after....sorry.

Don't take this wrong ,but I thought the car builder's name was Charlie Altfater ?

Thanks SW. The file says 'Rutherford/Pratt, Dayton '67'. I'm not familiar with anyone named Pratt? Does that name ring a bell with anyone?

That is probably Sonny Ates in the #93 and Bob Pratt in the #6.
Here is one of Pratt and Gary B. from 1967
I actually used a "flash bulb" to shoot this, since I didn't own an electronic flash then, and the Camera was a long gone Topcon. LOL!!

Is that Sheldon Kinser in the 56 Genesee Beer car?
|
Yep .. spot on.
Sheldon won that day at Eldora March '76 with Jan Opperman (getting out of the car behind him) running about 5th.

In the area where you type the message, there is an icon at the top of that box. There you will see an icon of a landscape, click on that, you can then uplaod the pictures to the server and then add them to your posts.

Here is the card Duke sent my dad for Christmas 1973. That year he was a teammate to Rollie Beale.

Wild Bill,
Can I use that photo of the Nance car with Duke driving for my In Memory of LaVern Nance section. I have several pages of photos of Nance cars on my site and that one would be a great addition to the tribute.

That was Duke's champ dirt car from the mid 80's. He listed V. V. Cook as the owner. V. V. is my Grandma's initials.
