I'm not saying they were or were not under weight cause I'm kind of far away to guess but...

How much weight would you have to remove to actually gain a noticable advantage over 1400 lb cars?

And what is bolted to a 1400 lb car that can be removed without removing something you need to run, turn, or stay alive?

According to a Lance Dewease interview, twenty pounds makes a big difference.   He told a story about some Florida races a while back where it was the All Stars one week and the WoO the next week.    The All Stars weight limit was 20 pounds less than the WoO.    He said the second week, the cars were slower.   He also said that the second week, a lot of guys that started the feature at the back raced 20 pounds light that night because they knew they wouldn't get weighed and they'd have a better shot at passing cars.

It was a while since I heard the interview so I may be incorrect on some of the details.   But I know he said it was 20 pounds and it made a big difference.

It is a shame that Logan missed the scales.

Right  if they dont weigh you after heats or consy it can gain you 10 spots easy for feature to run light. And i remember that interview lance also said  crew chief telling them just dont finish in top 3 knowing they only ever weigh the top 3 in the feature. It is a old school trick and bobby allen i'm sure knows this.

I believe he was responding to the guy who claimed that Bobby was running him light, basically calling them out as cheaters. Basically, you can build a car that is too light, but you do not want to take that car to nationals, as evidence with Sammy a few years back running out of fuel and not making weight. You make sure your car weights enough empty at that race. I highly doubt that Logan missed the scale purpously. I think it has more to do with the fact that the outlaws do not scale after the B main, just not something they are used to. I will say though, if you win a race at the nationals, you ALWAYS go to the scale, whether you know or dont know you need to.

He was replying to said comment above, claiming that they were running him light, asking what physically can be taken off the car that you do not need to make it run? Literally, unless there is bolt on wieght on the car, there is not hardly anything you can remove.

Gotcha....I thought he was referring to the trip to the pit....my bad

It wasn't too many years ago that Jason Meyers was dq'd for not going to the requred scale after a race at the Nationals. He too lost out on a good qualifying night.

It sounds like the tracks and sanctioning bodies need to have a random "Everybody to the scales" every now and then....

I remember once when a dirt track had a mandatory brake test one night for street stocks.   It was pretty entertaining because some guys didn't even try to stop.     They just drove straight to the pits..

Logan on Twitter: "I apologize to my team, they gave me a really fast race car and I made a big mistake. One that I know won’t happen again. I will do my best to make up for it on Friday."

"Senior moment" at 25 yrs. old? I'm guessing he got mixed up because WoO doesn't weigh in after B Main?

I think they should have reminded him, unless they added weight in the pits..... winner should be decided on the track, not on technicalities ( Yes, I KNOW thats the rule, but I'm thinking "spirit of the law", rather than "letter of the law")

I hope he kicks ass Friday!!!!

Would it be a first for a Grandpa and Grandson to both win the National.  Not sure of the #15 history with the Ford engine, but I thought I read where Ford wants there engine in the 15 for the National. Could make a huge difference

LOL Saw on twitter people calling this a bs move by Knoxville.  It sucks for the whole team, and Im sure Logan is heartbroken, but rules are rules.  If Schatz missed the scales and got dq'd, people would be throwing a party

Seems that they should be able to push the car over to the scales after he stops at his pit. Yes I understand they could throw a washing machine into the cockpit to get heavy but certainly some official could stand there and say dont touch this car or your are dq'd and watch to ensure there is no funny business. Yup rules are rules and when you operate within the spirit of the rules the next guys seems to have a different spirit and bend it sideways.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Officials are not super abundant and how is an official to know if a car did or didn’t scale or for that matter need to scale unless you have 1 official dedicated to each car. Not realistic. It sucks but the rules are the rules.

They did remind him. They say over the radios who has to scale after each race. They are told at drivers meeting that if they are not sure if they need to weigh to go to the scales anyway.

Though I disagree with officials having to "remind" drivers to scale.  I don't think it would be as hard as you think.  Don't most officials have radios?  Also I don't think you would need one official per car, just one official per car scaling (1,3 or 5 or however many they weigh).

Bobby Allen I'm sure also knows that they weigh every car after time trials at Knoxville, they weigh the top 4 cars out of every heat race, all of the cars that transfer from the C and B mains and the top 4 of the A main.

It would be completely asinine to send your car out to run the B feature intentionally light when you're starting on the front row and hoping to transfer to the A main.

But then again "asinine" is probably your middle name.

It was a mistake by a young driver, even old experienced drivers make mistakes once in a while.
