Jon Backlund pulling his super-modified in at Knoxville on July 12, 1969.
This was one of the popular "roadster" style cars of the time. About the only visible difference between a Knoxville Super Mod at this time and an IMCA sprint car was that the sprint cars weren't allowed to run a full cage yet for "appearance" reasons.
IMCA went to a full cage only after Kenny Gritz was fatally injured at Lincoln, NE. a week or so after winning the Knoxville Nationals.

Chuck Mohr's Offy taken on Aug. 14, 1971, at Eldon, IA.
This is the last Offy I remember being in competition at this time in the midwest.
