Rich is echoing my observations here Jeff and please stop being so negative with your responses toward me. I have lots to say about you how you are sponging off Alan's success here but I have withheld all of that so please cut the crap. I am not making negative jabs at you all but yet you will not answer any of my questions in a legitamate way and that kind of bothers me a little. Please accept my apoligies for the Corndog comment, that was out of line.
Also your suggestions to what you think I am doing with my computer and connection are way off buddy. I am smarter than you think and have tested this board outside of my environent with a neighbors cable connection and at work off a T1 so please spare me your techincal interjections. As Rich stated, the mainpage seems to load fine, its when you get inside things slip. I did point out there was some marked improvement last night for some reason things improved some. We will just have to see how it continues under load.

Dutches,
I will agree with most you have said but you have to agree, this board is probabley the toughest group out there. I do like the conversation that goes on because it does provide a little comedy and keeps it interesting.
"Please don't insinuate that those of us who don't see problems here are merely ignorant. More than likely, we're just not *looking* for problems"
Please don't take that statement lightly because yes like they say, Ignorance is bliss. For those of us who are technical, we understand. No offense against those who are not, I don't expect you to at all. Some have lower tolerance levels and that comes from the lack of computer training. I don't expect everyone to understand things only a MCSE would understand. Jeff asked for feedback and he got it. Its not my fault it seems to be only one way with him. I am just the first who has the nads to point it out to him. He can choose to do as he wishes, its his board and I accept that. All I have to say is if you don't want feedback, don't ask for it because either way, you are going to get it at some point in time. I just wished more people like Rich would step up and post their observations. Without that, nothing really will happen at all.

I like how you make it a point to tell everyone how smart and technical you are. I didn't answer your question the other day because it wasn't worth answering. If you have a question to ask you can email me at anytime.
Rich also said that his whole internet has slowed down not just this forum. So Rich is not echoing your observations.
Jeff

If you folks think that this crowd is tough, don't go to http://sprintcarforum.mywowbb.com/forum1/ , you'll never last over there.

No, I don't *have* to agree, and no, I don't agree. If you think this place is a tough group, you have mighty thin skin. What I see is a group of people who know each other online and sometimes offline, who enjoy trading opinions, jokes, and some ribbing now and then.
>>I don't expect everyone to understand things only a MCSE would understand.
How do you know I'm not an MCSE?
FFS. It's not "one-way" with Jeff. I have never interacted with him until two days ago when I had a question about this board, and he responded very quickly. He also added a feature I requested in less than 12 hours. If you do have an issue, approach it with some respect instead of just using it as an opportunity to try to show off your knowledge.

I would like to know how I am sponging.
Facts: 1. I probably spend more money per month on keeping this going out of my own pocket then most people spend on a house payment every month. 2. I spend more time working here then most people do at a regular job and I do it for free.

That is a wide range , bet some of these folk's house payments are near nothing while others are 2-3K a month.

This site loads for me in 3 seconds on DSL -- not bad at all.... perhaps the slowdown for others is lag from their ISP or too many hops in their path -- traceroute...?

I'd rather be "blissfully ignorant" about the technical stuff than be "technical and understand" and be a jerk about it. Steve isn't even a power user, so he's complaining that something FREE isn't good enough!
Stuck on dailup? The main forum page was up in 10 seconds and this tread in about 11. Guess I just don't see spending the money to make those #s 5 & 6 seconds.
Carefull nodust. You may get something else started here. Steve probably knows how to build a better tent too.

Nope Oz, my tent only cost $10 LOL and you can thank Nodust for that 11 sec wait you have. If there were no images to load, you would see the threads sooner on dialup. Sorry you have that kind of a connection. If highspeed is truely available to you in your area, I would seriously pay for it. Its worth every penny! There is no real good reason to suffer on dialup if you don't have to. FYI, being a power user does not speed you up. I visit lots of boards and paying to use one makes no sense to me if I have no use for the extra features. That's a choice over 10,000 of those 11,000+ registered users made. Power users are the minority members of this board.

I like a lot of the stuff Duane posts.
I know the Power user does not speed things up, but I am happy to pitch in a little for the expense Jeff has for doing this for us. Plus as I am not on here real regular I like keeping 50 threads showing so I don't have to go thru a lot of pages.
The high speed in town is cable from mediacom. I don't have it cause I have (and like ) Directv and do not want to subscribe to cable tv. They lost a lot of people in town by raising their rates allot and often. When the saw dishes sprouting up all over town they lowered their rates and came begging for everyone to come back to cable. They are not getting many takers.

That does really suck Oswold. I am in the same situation as you basically with Comcast being the cable provider in my area. I do have Comcast cable but refuse to pay them the addittional $50 a month to include my Internet. The only reason I have a hard wired phone line in my house is provide my DSL connection which only cost me $14.99 a month. Its fast enough for me and what I do online. If Mediacom wants all that lost business in your area, they need to offer a Internet only package like SBC has done. I am not sure but I think you live in Knoxville right? If so howabout Iowatelecom DSL? Is Iowatelecom not available in your part of town? If anybody has a decent rate, they should. I know quite a few people who use them and they are very happy.

mine is loading in 4.475*$#385 seconds....WTF do I care as long as it comes up in good time. In the time it took to bitch this many times you could have loaded it several hundred more times.
People complaining about the time...really very laughable cause of the time it took to sit and complain. That might free up some time for you.
Duchess, I disagree....
Oswald, I have no idea how many times I had to tell Mediacom that our Internet was out. Every time they would say we would have a discount on our next bill and it never came. They did that for like 7 months. In a 30 day period Mediacom that town would be out for about...around 72 hours. They once said it was that square block area cause the 'amps' we low in that area. I asked why they didn't get something ot juice it up. Mediacom said it was not 'worth it' in that block area. I hate mediacom.
And don't get me even started in thsi Pissing match Mediacom is having with Sinclair Broadcast Company.
I am bored, I think i will go get a sandwich. Oh, and my fridge light came on in .01274 seconds.

Hole, your analogies are really funny kiddo. I will accept it cuz it is was it is and it ain't going to get any better in my oppinion. Face it, this board is like no other that I am aware of and we will just have to accept what it gives. I bet you even wonder if that Fridge light goes off when you close the door. LOL
My Hole point here is, (pun intended) is that there are roughly 59 others like yourself you wanted these bells and whistles and use them. The fact remains there are over 10,000 registered users who are made to suffer the lag time who just want to read what's going on. As Oswold pointed out, there are a lot others who may have only Dial-up available to them and from what I have seen, I certainly could not deal with that. You pointed out the time it takes to reply to talk about this is a waste? What about your late night drunken raves where you have had to come back crawling with your tail between your legs? I am up early this morning working on dept budgets for 2007 and took a break here. What the heck are you doing up at 3:38am?

I work nights. Also, I accidently feel asleep when I got home and slept for 2 hours and now can't sleep.
I have Power user status cause I helped test the new stuff wanted.
I also said, "fridge light came on in" so I do know it has to go out to come back on.
Plus, most of the time all you guys know about everytime I do get drunk. Because I come on here and look at NST/WoO posts and am dumb enough, in that moment, to say something in one of those. People who never listen to ANYONE sure aren't going to listen to a person if they know they are drunk. No feelings hurt for me ever cause i knwo they never hear anything anyone says anyway. Atleast me being drunk is an up front excuse for them.

HEY!!! The ol' 'puter is whistling this morning!!! All the racercity message boards are humming quite nicely. Funny thing, I didn't do anything to it yesterday. Comcast WAS doing some testing in my area, so, there ya go.
Jackhole....keep up those drunken observations...I love 'em! Steve....get back to what you do best. Jeff....THANKS!!
