So..........
I'm curious. Does the complete lapse of care for the welfare of the driver being fed a RR warrant assault charges? or does that fall under "incredibly competitive" and likely to happen again because it's racing. ?? Black flag? DQ'd? Sat down for 1 race? A year?
Not defending the guy who used his helmet to try and crack the head of the other guy. But it wasn't a 1600 pound missile either. :/

Actually had to go BACK to the car to get the helmet. WOW! Thankfully he didn't have a .45 duct taped to the bottom of the seat. I saw somewhere on the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Series message board that Schank must have just "snapped". No? Really? I like to watch the shows on Investigative Discovery and a lot of the subjects of those shows just "snapped" and ended up what are called prisoners. Some on death row. Video is such a wonderful form of evidence.

I know you like to play devil's advocate but to suggest that Hawes knew going into that corner that Schank was gonna end up on his head is simply retarded and I know you are smarter than that. Watch the video again. Schank got out of the car and took helmet off. Started to walk towards Hawes. Went back to car. Grabbed his helmet and started walking towards Hawes again. Pre-meditation if there ever was an example of it and it's all caught on tape.

I do like to know all the information before passing judgement. I can't argue that he went back for the helmet. I suspect it only came in handy as he approached the guy who had complete disregard for whether either of them came out of the corner or not.
I never said Hawes knew going in what the outcome would be. I suspect he didn't care. He has already as much as stated so in this thread, in his own words. After all, it's racing - right? What I want to know is this - if Schank had gotten out of his car and walked to the pits, what would be done to prevent that repulsive(and potentially disasterous) piece of driving we see in that video from happening again?

So wait a minute.... Because the driver this non wing car wasnt driving a wing car with a number one on it sporting the big game tree stands logo, he gets a pass? What a crowd!
But to ban him from the track, wow. What about the actions of the driver who caused this whole deal.... Seems kinda biased to me.

After watching the video things dont look all that well for me I will say that. My only defense is if you look at when we were going into the turn Terry had his nose outside the 12 car. I suspected he would stay there and try to go around the outside of him. I had a full head of steam and on a track that was as fast as MRP was sat night I had a split second to make my decision. Clearly it wasnt the best. I can tell you however it was not intentional.

Also there are and will be no assult charges filed. Terry and I are grown ups and can handle this between the two of us.

The litigious mentality of America has now hit the racing forums. Go figure!

glad to see the driver of the seven car standing up and giving his side of the incident.. and i also see that mr schank is going to be at the trophy cup.. there looks like there are a few drivers there that might do the same kind of driving as the seven did.. good luck mr schank..

Apparently no longer entered in the Trophy Cup per the current roster on their website.

For those of you in support of Terry's actions, I am assuming you haven't witnessed his other out bursts. Last year in Chico I watched from the stands as he chased a 15 year old kid around the track on foot wanting to beat him up. Racing is a sport where tempers can fly but it is the drivers responsibility to keep his action in check. The last I heard racing was still being promoted as family entertainment. He needs to be aware of the audience and the message being sent. Terry's actions as well as the car owner should be banned from Northern California tracks. To fracture another helmet that is intended to be protection from impact is outrages and clearly the intent was to cause damage. What about the Gold Cup race earlier this year when he intentionally drove into another racers car taking that driver out for the night. I think it's time for Terry to get a handle on his temper This behavior is not what real racing is all about.

I would in no way back what terry shank did.... If the yellow seven car doesnt make contact with the black 1 car, how hard would he have hit the wall?... Cause obviously he crashed into the black car with a head of steam, lol they both turn hard right after the contact. This is sprint car racing, how you think someone is going to deal with a whoops?

I'll tell you how: The Saturday of the Vermeil Stephen Allard and Stephen Tiner made contact (I'll let those who were there or have a dog in the fight say whose fault it was) during the feature at Placerville that caused Tiner to wreck and completely destroy a car. It ended Stephen's night too I believe. There are no altercations or attempts to bash anyone over the head with anything that I am aware of and no video has surfaced of any such post wreck incident taking place. I'm pretty confident Schank's car was able to be rolled on the trailer after this incident at Marysville. The wreck at Chico on Wednesday night of the Gold Cup (which was Schank's making) was far more spectacular and ended worse for him than the car he took out with him. Both drivers walked to the pits that night and, again, no blows were thrown. The occasional helmet or sterring wheel toss I have no problem with. The occasional brawl in the pits I have no problem with. Anyone who does not have a problem with what you see in this video has a problem nobody involved with this message board can solve.
