A 12 year old sprint car, especially one that's an orphan(Doemelt?) is probably worth between $3K and $5K....don't think you'll get much of a street rod, hot rod, or muscle car for that, if you even get a trade....
Sell the motor separately - you'll probably get closer to what the motor's worth than if you sell the car whole.......

I agree with sprinter25....I'm guessing you'd be hard pressed to get much out of the car at all.

Thanks for the negative replies. I wasn't asking what it was worth nor was I asking your opinion on the make of the car. The car has over $8500 worth of new parts and machining in the motor alone. If you have no interest in it why even reply?

Not trying to be negative....just agreeing with the suggestion that sprinter gave. You'd probably get more out of the engine alone.

You would get more money by parting it out. Sell the parts on Hoseheads or Ebay. You will be further ahead money wise this way. The MSA guys do not even use cars this old. Strip it apart and sell what you can.

I'll post a negative comment for two reasons...1) this is the message board, not the classifieds! 2) even if it was still 1996, a doemelt is a piece of junk. i wouldn't trade a 1977 ford pinto for that car!
do it in the dirt

Just so you understand almost everyone's perspective here.... an OLD race car is worth very little unless it's a collectible. But even a collectible has to have a buyer that's willing to pay for it...but a 1996 Doemelt?
Not much of a market there.... and $8500 in parts in a motor? Well, you might get something out of the motor if you can sell it.....but any motor builder will tell you that a second-hand motor is not worth the money that you have in it WHEN you try to sell it. And any attempt to barter will get you cents on your dollar. Take a look at Hoseheads classifieds, National Speed Sport News classifieds, or any other racing board that has classified advertisements; you'll see lots of freshened 410 Kistlers, Gaertes, Otts, and Kriners selling for $15k to $20K...and these were motors that cost $35K and up when new. That's what the market is....and will bear....
Unfortunately, that's the reality of the situation...used race cars and parts aren't going to make you rich, or even get the money back that you've got in them.....

So you know everyones perspective here? You are the spokes person for all? I think if your not interested in what I have to offer you should shut the hell up and move onto the next thread instead of sitting here and belittling what I have. I never said I was trying to get every penny out of it. Where did I say that? And where did I ask you to analyze what I was trying to do? Thanks again for hijacking the thread.

Belittle? Exactly where did I belitlle your car or you efforts to sell it? I was trying to tell you that USED stuff isn't worth much....a fact that you seem to believe or accept....
Evidently you've decided that my lack of interest in your stuff and the fact that there's not a valid offer here (unless you count the Pinto as an offer to trade) should tell you something.... and there's a free classiified board for a reason.....
You're welcome.......
Chuck.....

Point was Chuck that most people have the common courtasy to not reply with negative information. If you think it's worth nothing you should keep your thoughts to youself. That's all I am saying on this. This thread is now just a waste of time.

Simple fact; it is worth exactly what someone is willing to give you for it and you are willing to take for it. When those two things match you have found the true value of what you are selling/trading.

Put your Beefed up motor in your new Hot Rod, scrap your no name out of date chassis (take it across the scales) and be happy you got $25 bucks to apply to your new Venture.

Throw in a firesuit and I'll give you top bluebook value on the Pinto.

Let's be clear here.
YOU posted this on a message board, which is an open forum. I merely replied what I thought it was worth...while you see that as negative, I don't feel that my post is in any way negative. If my opinion hurts your feelings, so be it. But you opened yourself up to other opinions, which quite a few others have supplied.
And other than the Pinto offer, I don't see any replies here. So sorry that you're so thin-skinned.....and you're right, the thread was a waste of time...from the beginning......
Chuck.....

What would you take for the roller? Might make a perfectly good 305 car. Feel free to post back to me privately. Not trying to be funny.
Tell me how much money you got and I'll tell you how
fast you can go!

How much did you want for the motor? I see you took off the initial post with the pictures. Dons Auto Parts build good motors. I need a motor for my street car. Let me know. As far as the chassis goes scrap metal is at a all time high.
