Yes, because running more races in a year equals fewer travel costs! What a crock!
|
Obviously, Egras' comment did not sink in for you: "When figuring this out, do not forget to add the travel to the events we know they ALL going to attend----Knoxville June, King's Royal, and Knoxville Nationals. Those events should be calculated into both series since they are all attending. "

It did but I still don't buy it. Sorry you can't race more races and have fewer travel expenses! It is impossible. The Woo raced more times than the HL. The HL guys were not at all the races that the Woo ran . Impossible I tell you!
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

It could lower the average cost per race though.

I guess you don't buy it cause you don't get it. Egras' whole point was that most of the top HL teams ran as many races as the Outlaw guys
So more or less same travel expenses
You're such a "True Believer" .... Port Royal:=Bad, HL=Good, Strawser=Facts, Everybody else= Can't handle the truth

Instead of speculating you could look at how many races they actually did compete in...
LINK
Or, you could just keep fighting with others because that's fun. Looks to me like the WOO and HL regulars competed in nearly the same amount of races with a little variation.
Oddly enough, two of the guys that showed up to the most events (Macri and Dietrich) didn't likley spend near as much as the regular ones on tour. Jacob Allen hit the most events. He problaby spent quite a bit on travel.

No no no, you are reading everything I'm saying incorrectly. I support the HL drivers and whatever schedule they want to run. I support, and watch both series equally through streaming. I have not yet attended a HL race as I don't have to----I can see all of those drivers at local Outlaw events. (something that will have to change if they are to expand and grow)
What I don't support is the notion that these drivers are choosing HL because the schedule is "cheaper" and more affordable to run. It's not. Why? Because on top of the HL series, they are also going to attend a number of other can't-miss races which are already on the WoO schedule. Strawser can call bull$@#t all he wants about running the HL being more expensive, but this came right from Donny's mouth. Tony supposedly has a cob up his ass over the Outlaws, yet decides to sent TSR Racing on the road with them rather than a cheaper HL series? No. They added it up, and said running the entire HL schedule, on top of the other can't-miss races in the country, would require a higher budget. I tend to believe that assessment.
As far as enjoying the "flexibility"----that is fine if they want flexibility. I have not seen this so call flexibility take shape yet with the exception of a race here and there. HL is going to require drivers to race all of their events if they want the benefits. (sound familiar) As of now, HL has not scheduled against major WoO events creating the illusion of flexibility----but they're all going to those events anyways. That is not what I call weekends off, or flexibility. It's just that HL doesn't quite have the pull to schedule against those events. Other than the Nats in August, as time goes on, they are going to grow a bigger pair, and will have to schedule against some major WoO races. Flexibility is simply an illusion right now. If I'm not mistaken, someone pointed out either late in the season, or after the season was over, that the drivers in the country that ran the most races were full-time HL drivers, and the highest earners were full-time WoO drivers................ The proof is right there. I love both series, but why are people still so delusional that running the HL full time is the more economical choice? It's proven not to be.

I don’t see how you can say “I can see all of those drivers at local Outlaw events” and then make a complete 180 and say “ I have not seen this so call flexibility take shape yet with the exception of a race here and there.” The HL schedule has strategic gaps which allow their drivers to attend some of the desired WoO races. HL full time teams have cited this flexibility as one of the reasons they chose that series. By contrast, full time WoO drivers race almost every weekend (37 in 2025) from March until November and get little opportunity (flexibility) to race outside of the series.
I can’t comment on which series is cheaper to run because I haven’t heard the HL teams mention costs.
Can you please post a link to the Donny Schatz interview so we can hear “Donny's words” from Donny ?

To me, flexibility means they are not required to run something---but, we all know they're gonna, so they're married to the event anyways. If they all know it would be ridiculous not to compete in these events, is there really a choice? If you run the HL, you're gonna run all of these other races anyways. I guess if it makes them feel better to say it's their choice while they run all over and run as many races as the WoO schedule, without the perks of just running the WoO schedule, so be it............... If there was true flexibility, you would see a bunch of those guys stay home and take a break----rather than run the rat race anyways.
I'm sorry, but I cannot recall exactly where Donny's interview was shown. I believe it was on a streaming broadcast where he was interviewed. I promise you he said (and I paraphrase): Tony and I were at the point where we were ready to flip a coin. He decided to run the numbers to travel the entire WoO series, or to run the entire HL series with the other races added in, and the WoO series was less costly for overall travel costs including hotels for the crew. If I can find the link, I will gladly share it.

onporch----I'm terrible at posting a link correctly. This is not the EXACT interview I was thinking of, but he says the same thing.
Youtube, search "Scelzi Says: Donny Schatz joins the show" The entire interview is pretty good, straight forward, and he pulls no punches. The part you're looking to hear, which Strawser thinks is complete BS, is at about the 24 minute mark. Once again, it's not the exact quote I was thinking of, but it's the same topic with the same outcome.

As is most all of the ignorant things you type. A comment like that suggest that you don't have a grasp of the conversation, like your average 8-year old. Surely, a business genious like yourself should understand budgets, income forecasts and spread sheets. Otherwise, you'd just sound like you are running your mouth about stuff you really don't understand.

Now hold on, what makes you think Tony Stewart and Donny Schatz are better businessmen than Strawser?

These cars are not cheap to run or for that matter to tow down the the road. So racing more surley would be cheaper! NOT!

That would certainly be the simplistic way to look at it , as if traveling costs were the only factors that businessmen would look at.
Cory Eliason attended few races than Donny Schatz. Which one do you think had a better year?
