What else would sway a decision on what series to race at?

Schedule.    Some of the 2024 HL full timers said that with the WoO schedule you have very little time to live a life outside of racing in the series.     They chose HL because they get more flexibility and time off.   If you have an airplane like Donny Schatz you can just fly home after the Saturday night WoO race but most racers don’t have that luxury.

The 2025 Outlaw schedule has them racing 35 Weekends with at least one Friday, Saturday or Sunday race.    That leaves only 17 free weekends and most of those are in November, December, January and February.

Is that why virtually all of the top high limit teams raced as much or more than the WoO teams in 2024?

I am just repeating what some of the HL full timers have said in interviews.    They said liked the HL schedule and flexibility.

Why do you think HL got more full time drivers than WoO ?

I watched the 4 days of the King's Royal during the High Limit's "weekend off"--------they were all there.

I'm wondering who some of these drivers were that complained about the schedule of the Outlaws and enjoyed the "flexibility" and stayed home on their off weekends so they could have a life.....................................................

Why do you think HL got more full time drivers than WoO ?    Easy pickings without the top level competition!

Do the HL drivers say they like the lighter schedule? Because most of them ran more races than the WoO platinum. And a few main Posse guys raced much more than the WoO. The WoO has been short on CA races and HL seems ro want to be there so i wonder who really has the lighter schedule.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

It would be interesting to  see a comparison between total mileage driven to follow each circuit for a season.

The difference is that HL guys could pick which races to attend, instead of the mandatory races WoO sanctions.

On the other hand, Sweet & Kyle know that most of the teams are gonna want to go to those Big$$$ races, they can't sanction them, so might as well call them "open dates". I wonder how many HL teams actually used them for "days off"?

When figuring this out, do not forget to add the travel to the events we know they ALL going to attend----Knoxville June, King's Royal, and Knoxville Nationals.  Those events should be calculated into both series since they are all attending.

I don't know mileage, but I have brought up before Donny Schatz's interview from early in the year.  He was asked why TSR chose the WoO instead of HL.  They said it was nearly a coin toss, but Tony decided they would add up all travel costs from running both series and choose the cheaper of the 2.  The WoO was the more affordable to run than the HL, so they went with the WoO.  Not my words, Donny's words.  One would have to assume this is because on top of the HL series, there would be a large amount of national events they would also be attending on the weekends "off" thus making it more pricey to run with a smaller pot of $$ to pull from.

Yes, because running more races in a year equals fewer travel costs!   What a crock!

It could.  I depends on the costs at the locations and the distance to be traveled between races.

Very, very, very, highly doubtful!   It sounds like an excuse to stay with the Woo!  Because it was!

That is like saying if we race 60 times in a year it will cost less than if we race 50 times in a year.  I am talking if everything goes well every night out.

Brent Marks is the one that said “They (HL) have given us an opportunity to have a life outside of racing”

Brent attended some of the Outlaw races but he also skipped a bunch like Volusia, Charlotte, and other undesirable races on the schedule.    That's what flexibility means.     You attend the ones you want and skip the ones you want.      A lot of the HL guys skipped Charlotte.   There was even a thread here where OP asked "How come the High Limit teams are staying away from WOO World Finals."

Brent was a full time Outlaw a few years ago so I trust what he says.

skip to the 24 - 26 minute mark to hear him talk about the HL schedule.

Of course the HL guys attended the desired WoO races.    That was part of the whole plan put in place by Brad & Kyle.

I am not sure what your argument is Egres.

Are you saying HL full timers don’t desire schedule flexibility ?

Are you saying HL does not offer their full timers schedule flexibility  ?

Are you saying HL full timers don’t take advantage of schedule flexibility ?

No no no, you are reading everything I'm saying incorrectly.  I support the HL drivers and whatever schedule they want to run.  I support, and watch both series equally through streaming.  I have not yet attended a HL race as I don't have to----I can see all of those drivers at local Outlaw events.  (something that will have to change if they are to expand and grow)

What I don't support is the notion that these drivers are choosing HL because the schedule is "cheaper" and more affordable to run.  It's not.  Why?  Because on top of the HL series, they are also going to attend a number of other can't-miss races which are already on the WoO schedule.  Strawser can call bull$@#t all he wants about running the HL being more expensive, but this came right from Donny's mouth.  Tony supposedly has a cob up his ass over the Outlaws, yet decides to sent TSR Racing on the road with them rather than a cheaper HL series?  No.  They added it up, and said running the entire HL schedule, on top of the other can't-miss races in the country, would require a higher budget.  I tend to believe that assessment.

As far as enjoying the "flexibility"----that is fine if they want flexibility.  I have not seen this so call flexibility take shape yet with the exception of a race here and there.  HL is going to require drivers to race all of their events if they want the benefits.  (sound familiar)   As of now, HL has not scheduled against major WoO events creating the illusion of flexibility----but they're all going to those events anyways.  That is not what I call weekends off, or flexibility.  It's just that HL doesn't quite have the pull to schedule against those events.  Other than the Nats in August, as time goes on, they are going to grow a bigger pair, and will have to schedule against some major WoO races.  Flexibility is simply an illusion right now.  If I'm not mistaken, someone pointed out either late in the season, or after the season was over, that the drivers in the country that ran the most races were full-time HL drivers, and the highest earners were full-time WoO drivers................   The proof is right there.  I love both series, but why are people still so delusional that running the HL full time is the more economical choice?  It's proven not to be.
