I am thankful as I said in other thread , but you know its not everyday we come across things in life or people you cherish . But as a racing fan , I 've been lucky in life to know a lot of great people . Personal reasons to be a fan :1. I've met many great fans from all over 2. met great drivers at various tracks and at different places & made friends with them 3. got to know many great promoters 4. learned about the inner workings of promoting from many people 5.worked with many great people who are involved in racing 6. met Mrs Vicki Leppo , Mrs Kathy Kauffman , and Mrs Deb Rahmer who have been so kind to me 7. met Kevin Gobrecht who spent almost 3 hours with me at an autograph session years ago I did at Knoxville Raceway , will never forget him 8.met Bobbi Johnson now wife of Jason Johnson 9. met Kenny Weld and his wife Marietta ,he made a long lasting impression on me 10. met Bud Grimm and crew and went to races with him in his truck to races at Susquehanna and Selinsgrove 11. saw racing in earlier years that I will never see again 12.met promoter Don Kazarian at Perris Speedway and Scott , the announcer 13.have made a lasting friendship with Carl Christman who has has been a true friend 14.met Bob Baker at the NSCHOF a true class act 15. met the Thompson family Len , crew especially Allen , Bev , and her husband . Just a few of my reasons for being a devoted fan of over 40 years , thanks for reading , Robert Altman

Yes, I have met many many great people by going to sprint car racing. And made many life long friends. Fans, driver, promoters, etc. But I would not have met any of them if I had not gone to racetracks because I love good racing. And good racing is the #1 reason I am a fan.

I too have met many folks over the years in racing and what I noticed is that they are just regular people who happen to race or be involved in racing.
I'm with Oswald, it was nice meeting them but I was there to see them race, I would trade all my handshakes and autographs for a ticket to Knoxville any day.

Yes, good racing is the reason we go to a racetrack but my experiences with many people far override just good racing . I would not trade my experiences for anything with the people mentioned and more that I did not even mention . And yes even my experiences with all the thread writers and reply comments on this message board , has been an experience .
