You talked about the format for the Dirt Classic Qualifier a little bit . Am I getting this right? Time trials are only for points , and the pill draw sets time trial order and then the heats are lined up in reverse order of  the time trial order? Then total points from time trials and heat finishes are added together?

If I have this right it seems ok , but will there be a giant scoreboard keeping fans updated on each drivers point totals? I'm guessing not. That is what I don't like about formats like this. As a fan , I like knowing what each driver has to do to get his respective spot in the next race , be it consi , dash , or feature. I don't like watching the races , then sitting around waiting for the scores to be tabulated and then told what we just saw.

I'll pass on this race.

The officials of the Dirt Classic are experimenting with formats to see what works best. I would give the race a chance before formulating an opionion.

As for this format, I'm intrigued. I'm quite sure the track announcer will keep people informed of the points and who is where.

Honestly it wasn't bad the way they had it last year. They just ran way too much in the heats and such. The track started to take rubber by the end of the B main and was completely rubbered up 1/2 way through the feature which turned it into a single file run for the last 15-20 laps.

Organizers have taken that into consideration for the September race and are going to make a couple tweaks.

I don't like formats that require you to have a calculator in your hand to add points up. I like formats where a fan can automatically follow along with what drivers need to do to make the A-main, and not sit there and watch the race ,  then wait for the announcer to tell you a particular driver didn't make it because he didn't score enough points.Hopefully by the time the Dirt Classic comes around they will figure out the the WoO format is the best format out there and they quit trying to re-invent the wheel.

I also will be passing on this race.

Actually , it's a no-brainer, I'm going to the USAC race at Port.

You need to get out more. Port races all types of divisions equally well.
