FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

APPAREL WITH OBSCENITIES NOT ALLOWED AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(AUGUST 28, PERRIS, CA) Oval Entertainment, LLC President Don Kazarian is advising that fans are not allowed to display apparel with obscenities or obscene graphics at any event at Perris Auto Speedway.

A recent post on the scrafan.com web site message board by a concerned fan prompted Kazarian to publicly address the issue. The fan commented that another fan he was sitting near had a profanity printed on his shirt. The concerned fan and others around him were commenting that it was inappropriate and they had children with them who could see the profanity.

"It is not a new policy," Kazarian said from behind his desk. "It is one that we do not have to address that often as most responsible adults know that wearing such apparel in public is inappropriate. I cannot understand why someone would wear something like that in public in the first place. Whenever we see or are advised that a fan is wearing something with obscenities or obscene graphics, we approach them and ask them to cover it up. We run a family show and we do not tolerate that. We have a lot of kids in our crowd and there is no way in the world a mother or father should have to see their children exposed to that or have to explain to them why someone would wear it."

The policy regarding such apparel is quite simple. Any fan who shows up wearing it will be asked to cover it up or put on something else. "If they do not have anything else to wear, they can turn it inside out and wear it that way as long as it does not show through," Kazarian said. "If it shows through, as far as we are concerned the problem will still exist and they will have to put something else on. Anyone who cannot comply with this policy or anyone who turns their apparel inside out to get in and then changes it back once they get inside will be escorted from the facility."

"We have a great, family oriented crowd and we have very few problems," Kazarian said. "We do not need fans who want to disrupt the family atmosphere we have built over the last 11 years. For fans who do not wish to comply with these ideals, we simply ask them to go somewhere else on Saturday night as we do not need their money. We ask all of our fans that when they see inappropriate apparel or any problems to report it to a staff member or security officer and the problem will be addressed immediately. They should not wait until Monday to call the office, E-mail or send a letter as it is almost impossible to address it then."

Racing continues at The PAS this Saturday night, September 1st, when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the immensely popular Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.

Anyone wishing more information could contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Good for Perris Auto Speedway.

Even if people don't want to show respect for themselves, they still should show respect for others with whom they have contact. Good to have some standards set and enforced at a public facility.

I agree John. T-shirts are the least of the problem at our local tracks around here however. Fans screaming obscenities at the top of their lungs within earshot of children is #1 problem. Has to drive some families away. Launching beer cans and fighting are other pastimes that tend to hurt the family atmosphere, which sort of comes back to the old argument of whether to have a designated drinking section or not. Sad to say gate economics is probably the determining factor in the end. Kids at reduced admission versus the regular paying public. Whatever the case, parents usually have more reason than one to make their kids wear ear plugs at the races...lol.

They also have a very strict policy about the other things you mentioned (fightning and vulgar language) and made it very clear over the PA two weekends ago that it would not be tolerated. I have also recently heard of a few other tracks adopting that ideology. Perhaps the tracks are finally trying to take back some control for the sake of families since so many can not seem to control themselves.

I to think they should have a designated drinking area. I also think they would do well by not allowing stumbling intoxicated persons into the pits after the race. I have seen to many of these guys/gals practically falling on drivers and with slurred speech, loudly exclaim their satisfaction with them both in positive and negative ways.

Crap, I agreed with Cubic on something. did anyone feel the earth shift for a second.

I agree also, 6.2 on the Rictor Scale.

It amased me how some people speak to their kids both at home and in public.

For some people, the F word is dinner table language both out of the mouth of kids and adults.

IF the parents can't control themselves or their yard apes, I think it is just fine for the entertainment venues to do so.

I think they should give individual plastic bubbles to all the kids. Make sure it's not clear plastic either. That way we can protect them at the race track, school, movie theatres, and other troublesome public venues.

Is the apparell issue getting so out of hand the track has to step in? I wonder how many people stand outside PAS, smoking cigarettes with thier 'Blow me' shirts on??

Open Wheel issue #1...There were photos of a set of bare breasts, a driver signalling with one finger, and an occaisional profane word....

I digress, I like how the tormented fan, sat there and said they observed the offending message.

Ok, Why did they not just get up, go over there and explain to the rube, how his shirt was causing mental anguish or just simply move out of the seat into another away from the sight line of this?

But, no, message board the thing and express such disdain for the situation and have someone esle deal with it.

Thank my fellow Americans for being so moved to want to create change and yet not have the gumption to deal with it personally.

All for a "Family" section. Put all the Mini-Van folks in one area and leave those who want to see the racing and let us be.

I do not advocate for the folks that just want to get drinking and rowdy either, so I would not mind a section for them as well, but then where does it stop-How about putting the fat people in a lower section of seasting or higher depending on where the track food court is, because they are constantly up-and-down through the seats to get the aisle for feasting as that gets really annoying to some of us who are aisle commandos.

Simple fact is someone is going to be annoyed by another someone at a race. Until there is a Sprint Car race in some THX-1138 type society, then we all just have to deal with it.

So I can't wear my twenty-five year old "Sh$t Happens" shirt that shows a wrecked sprinter and the driver talking to the car owner?

WTF?

Who's going to be the "shirt judge?" What constitutes inappropriate?

And my final question, why do T-Shirt companies produce shirts with obscene slogans on them in the first place? The answer to that one is simple...they sell.

I don't own any obscene shirts, never have and never will. We camp overnight sometimes, have a few beers and I have been known to revert back to my sailor language (for emphasis) but we confine it to the conversation in our own campsite. For us 50 somethings an occasional shot of Jag and spouting a few F'inheimers when the grandkids aren't within earshot is as wild as it gets anymore. I guess we'd be illegal in California wink

Just today, after a battle every week with a driver's wife using foul language plus her finger then it escalated last week to her children filling in when she took a breath . This lady was banned permanently from our facility. She of course called to apologize, but the damage has been done. We really don't need this type in our facility, as it certainly ruins the family theme. Now we have a breath of fresh air..

Kudos to PAS!!! I am all for it. Although this great country has become much too P.C. I salute a business owner for forcing the issue. It's sad that people just don't have enough common decency to know how to act in front of women and children. Maybe it's a southern thing (apparently a southerm Cali thing) but there's things a MAN does not do around women and children. Wearing a shirt with scenes straight out of penthouse or with vulgar words is just wrong in mixed company. I'm no bible thumper and I can hold my own with drinking, cussing and acting a fool but I was taught to not do it in front of women and children. I promise to not sit next to you and blow smoke in your face, so try and not sit next to me and my family and act as if you are at a strip club!

MEN, use some common sense. If you are going out around women and children please try and have some class. Respect my wife. Respect my children. Respect me.
