Not trying to diminish the 360's in Central PA, I actually really like a lot of the 360 guys in Central PA.  With only 14 cars for the Selinsgrove opener and it being reported that this is the last year Charlie Paige will be promoting Selinsgrove, what does this do for 360's?  Doesn't look like many teams are switching from 358's to 360's and cars aren't traveling to support Selinsgrove's reguler shows, so things do not look that great from an outside perspective.  It was a gutsy move to add 360's weekly but things haven't panned out.  Maybe a new promoter will take the lumps for a few years and keep trying to build this class in that area.  It had to hurt Selinsgrove when URC took over URC from the Millers as a lot of cars will go back out and support that series.  It also had to hurt when Selinsgrove choose to support the Renagades and when the All-Stars took over, they kept Selinsgrove (and Path Valley) off the schedule.  Just curious to hear what other think of the future of the class.

IMO Selinsgrove is in a tough spot. With it costing nearly as much to go 360 racing as it does 410 racing it really puts the teams into a tough spot. Spend alittle more money and have a higher purse and more tracks to race at or race at a single track with a motor and car setup that is only marginally cheaper with a lower average purse per week? Damned tough call if you ask me.

Just get rid of the 358-360 classes all together in central PA.

With everyone complaining about Williams Grove the past few seasons I wouldn't mind seeing Selinsgrove go back to weekly 410 racing . But switch nights to Fridays and run 410 sprints and LM weekly and alternate other divisions like Port does. They could run the same divisions as Port but when the 355 LM race at Port , Selinsgrove could run say like 305's. Then when Port runs 305's , Selinsgrove could run the 355 LM and so on.

360's in Central Pa. have never been well received, it's 410 country plain and simple. Selinsgrove obviously felt going in that direction was in their best interest, you don't know till you try, but it's been a tough sell.

Their fields should be good for at least 6 events, including visits from ESS, URC, and the Patriot Sprint Tour, will that be enough for the class to survive.....time will tell.

Weekly 410 racing at selinsgrove wont ever work.  They cant pull more than a full field for any 410 shows anymore.

Selinsgrove's problem drawing 410s is because it's always on a Sunday.  These are local racers, race on weekends.  97% of the teams in central PA have to get up and go to work on Monday.  And, for instance, Selinsgrove is at the end of speed week when everyone is basically worn out, out of money and equipment.   Maybe they should put them at the beginning of speed week sometime and see how it goes and alternate.

Would love to see a decent track go against Williams Grove sometime.  The only thing is, if they would be successful at it, pinky would just sell the place off to a developer rather than fix the problems.

Yep, too many 1/2 mile tracks in PA and not enough bullrings. With WG and Port having 410's, SG is the odd man out. The motor costs of running a 1/2 mile track have become atsronomical. Teams have took notice; (32 410's and 37 358's at Lincoln for a regular show). Problem is it takes a lot of $$$ to change the configuration of a track.

Don't want to start a big fight but as a former 360 owner I can tell you that 360s might cost almost as much to build as a 410 (engines are less to build - tho' not a lot - everything else similar) but they sure cost less to run. The engines go longer between rebuilds, which cost less, they don't eat ring and pinions like the 410s or put nearly the load on wheels, shocks, bars, etc. Since many local 360 racers aren't set on "kill" like even the local 410s, you can get by without new tires as often and theoretically won't crash as often or hard. The Racesaver 305s should be significantly less hard on rearends etc. than even the 360s but when you see the smaller rearends they are starting to use, those might not last any longer than the full size rears do in the higher horsepower cars. Racing is expensive, no matter which class and there's going to be someone with a 305 that runs new tires on the corners that aren't regulated, sneaks in Ti parts like driveshaft and internal rearend parts hoping for the advantage and that they won't get caught. Sure there's a weight rule but if you can put it where you want it, you're better off. Face it, someone will always spend more money to go faster. We now return you to your how to save Selingsgrove discussion.

selinsgrove runs Saturday shows with 410's.  Their National open is a Saturday, and they barely get a full field for a good purse.
