There was a big difference in the two incidents.

Wayne tried to avoid the deal by getting out of the gas but it was to late.

Brian went full bore and didn't try to get out of it.

Brian drives like that every Saturday night.

Face the facts, Brian Brown is a dirty driver that doesn't care about anyones safety.

I heard (sprintcardaily) that Wayne Johnson took out Jon Allard....

Any truth to this?

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

I can't imagine Wayne hitting another car on purpose. The following is from Knoxville's official web site in the results section:

Third running Wayne Johnson attempted to overtake the runner-up spot from Allard. With the track slicking over, a slide job would be the only way to get the job done.

As Johnson slid into turn two, he made contact with Allard. Allard's sprinter spun and rolled over.

yeah Johnson's wasn't near that bad. I could understand Allard being pissed off though. Big difference in the 2 incidents. Brian Brown was COMPLETELY careless..........Wayne Johnson miscalculated. Carol you're right........it was all slide jobs in the feature. Wayne just missed on his......even looked like he tried gettin out of the gas to avoid it.........unlike completely nailing someone at speed. But it's alright.....Brian Brown has a lot of cars to pass tomorrow. I'll leave that one right there.

the two incidents arent even comparable----first off Wayne didnt dam near kill Allard like Brown could have done to Martin---Second I guarantee Johnson apologized face to face to Allard and genuinely fely bad about what he did------Wayne doesnt race like that---In fact Wayne did apologize on the local radio broadcast when interviewed and said it was his fault and that he made a bad decision-----wasnt near as fierce as what Brown did---not even close and I guarantee Brown wont apologize and if he does its just because he is trying to kiss ass to the fans and sponsors and look liek a good guy----Wayne meant it!!

So I was waiting for this post... I think the world of Wayne Johnson... but I want to hear everyone bash him... cuz a slidejob gone bad is a slidejob gone bad.......Its just not going to happen, you guys just won't bash him....   Brian and Wayne are both great guys..... and so until all you arm chair racers strap into a 800+ horsepower fire breathing sprint car... keep your mouths and keyboards to yourselves.

I don't know Brian at all... and generally only see him at the Short Track Nationals, unless he comes to the Devil's Bowl or the Chili Bowl.  However, I have know and seen Wayne race for years.  Therefore, I can't have an opinion about Brian, but I can about Wayne.   Sorry.

Now that you mention it, the worst slide job I have ever seen was the one that Sammy Swindell put on Dubby May years ago at Knoxville in hot laps for the Nationals (in the '70's).   Now that ought to stir up some comments.  Sounds like, compared to that one - Brian Brown is just a novice.

How can anyone call Brian's a slidejob? Brian ran into Randy. Brian wasn't doing a slide job. It's getting where if someone bumps someone in the back it's a "slidejob gone bad". Brian is a dirty driver and Yes, I do think he did his on purpose. Brian wants to win at all cause. I suppose it is hard to live up to what Uncle Danny has done at Knoxville. Slidejob gone bad? Give me a break.

It also amazes me how Brian Brown has a "Slidejob go bad" almost everynight. Everytime he wrecks someone, a "Slidejob went bad". When he wrecked Rager Phillips, a "Slidejob went bad" and that was on the front stretch. At least with that wreck, Brian admitted he was at fault.

carol was that the year that Dub May landed on the quansunt building??? If if it is I for one will NEVER forget that!!! Safety crew standing there scratching their head like "how the he(( are we going to get this car down and "yelling You ok??"I was a teenager and can still to this day remember that!

Also there are many of us that may have never been in a sprintcar....(well i have actually been in a sprintcar~~in a cornfield)lol and it DID scare the sh**t out of me!....but many of us have been to MANY races in our day...........I do know cause my hubby raced sprints that you can just plain screw-up, but there are also times when a driver, has done things not so wise on the track.... Most times it can be pretty obvious if it was a "accident" or intentional move..........One thing for sure is that I am pretty sure that Brown didn't intend on taking hisself out with Martin (sorry for his luck on that one) that would be with tongue in cheek.............However it don't take away from the fact that Brown is very well known for the "stunts" he pulls on the racetrack!

seeing the action from the stands and from the infield is totally different than being behind the wheel. i know that what happened to Randy was a bad deal and tore up alot of good equipment same for Allard too, but one thing you guys need to realize is that once you make that split second decision to slide a guy you are committed and alot of times there is no turning back! i know alot of you on here think you can just roll out of it and turn the car to avoid contact, but it does not work that way! Wayne and Brian both do a great job behind the wheel in a 410 and a 360. they are on the racetrack to win every night and are always going forward. as many cars as both of these two guys pass every week you are going to have a bad split second decision every once in a while. but, i totally forgot that alot of you on here are 100% perfect and have never made a mistake or a bad judgement call your whole entire lives! i know everyone has there favorite driver and also one they do not like and that is ok, but we need to respect these guys that strap in every week and put there lives on the line for a sport that we love to watch.

When it happens to Wayne, it happens once every BLUE moon. When Brownie takes someone out, it happens once every FULL moon. Little difference there.

I don't recall Wayne driving dirty here in Ok. I was there when he won his first two features on the same day against what was the best in the class at the time! He wanted to win but not without honor. He's always been too talented for that.

Luvsracin11...   You've got it.  That scared me.  It also basically ended Dubby's career.  Sad - he was a really neat guy.   In fact, I'd swear that the last time I was in Knoxville you could still see the patch in the upper side of that quonset hut.

I know a sprint car is wiry and isn't easy to handle... probably akin to riding a bull... never know for sure which way it's going, and therefore not easy to predict.   But I remember the first time I saw Craig Dollansky race at Knoxville.  He was fast - but when he was aware that slide job wasn't going to "take" - he'd back off and try again later.  I was impressed with that fact.  And he still "went to the front".  The first time I saw Sammy race he took himself and his Dad out.   Of course - he was just a kid.

As I've said... I have no opinions of Brian Brown - mainly what I've seen on TV (and we all know what I'm referring to there).

Most of the guys are great guys personally.  And I can understand the zeal when strapped in.   I still get aggressive in any competition... whether it be on a go kart track or a bean bag tournament.  I think about going back to vintage sports car racing, but I might get too aggressive for them.  Yes - I raced sports cars.  Why?  Because they didn't allow women in the pits at the dirt track races when I wanted to go racing.
