I'm really getting tired of hearing how bad of a driver Cody Darrah is.  He is still young and has a lot of years of racing left.  He has finished 7th in points the past two years.  Steve Kinser finished 8th in points last year so Darrah actually finished in front of him.  And how many years has Kinser been driving a sprint car?  Let's hear everybodys excuse on that one.

As a PA Posse faithful.....i don't think anyone questions Cody's ability to drive a Sprint Car. He's won some big races and did fairly well in PA. However, me personally..I don't think he was ready for the tour when he went and with the equipment he has and the financial backing..I would have expected more  results over time. Not to mention...with Pittman coming in and winning right out of the blocks, Sweet winning races right away this year and having won races last year part time...I would tend to think their is sonme serious pressure on Cody to perform at the level of his counterparts. Joey got canned after numerous seasons of winning many races and contending for a championship consistantly. I have to think, if something does not change we may see Cody back in PA by next season..but I could also be wrong. Kasey is paying the bills and if he's satisfied..that's really all that matters. I just, in my opinion..think there are prolly better drivers without a ride that would kill for that opportunity to be in that car and that Cody needs to seize his rather quickly or he'll be back home. But kudos to the kid for trying and getting the opportunity in the first place

A majority of people who talk trash about Cody do it because they think he is holding up a seat in a quality ride for someone else but what they do not understand is that it is not their decision on who has the ride in the first place. I personally think Cody has done pretty well while being in the ride. A lot of people were mad orginally because Paul McMahon did not get the ride after the year he had when Cody was injured and wanted Paul to get the seat (these are probably the same people who wanted Paul out of Tony's car years ago as well). Then Joey lost his ride at KKR and Cody stayed so some were questioning why the heck do you let go of the guy who has won a ton of races for you and keep the guy who has only won a few?

People seem to forget about the struggles that Donny Schatz had at the beginning or Shane Stewart. For the past 3yrs everyone has wanted Shane to get in a permanent ride and he should be because he has earned it. I wonder if the same people who want Cody out of his KKR ride will be the same ones that want him in a full time ride if/when he starts winning races. Most people on here discourage people instead of incouraging. I think people like Cody, David Gravel, and a few others are the future so incourage them.

Ok--are you being serious?  So by your logic, if Danica and Richard Petty go head to head for 50 laps at Daytona and Danica beats him--which she probably would--we shouldn't give up on Danica surpassing 200 career Cup wins just yet?

This has to be the funniest post I have ever seen.  Kinser is a 60 year old man.  Cody is not running the family sprint car on the back of an open trailer with a 10 year old motor and a tire budget.  He is running his 4th full season on the tour for one of the top teams.  He is obviously a good driver because he got the ride.  But lets be honest--there are dozens of sprint car drivers in this country that could have taken that car to a 7th place finish and better last year.  Remember, 7th place is actually 4th or 5th from last most years.   So enough already.

Get a life guys The kid has been pretty good all this year. Saturday night after checking up for an out of control 9w coming out of turn four was tagged in the rear by a lap car 5w and spun. He timed in one spot behind Brad but just not slow enough to make the invert, so as we call it the co2ksucker spots. He has done as well as the super stars you hold above your head in thier first years

My logic is over an entire season, your logic is one 50 lap race.  And my logic is beside the point, Darrah has talent and I think he could very well be the up and coming.

Has he been the most expensive driver in the USA for four years?

Donny Schatz, I think we know who that is, won rookie of the year in 1997. In 1997 he finished 12th in points, in 1998 he finished 12th in points, in 1999 he finished 7th in points, and his 4th year on the tour full time, 2000 he finished 11th. And I can guarantee that Donny's team was working with good equipment. I guess I'm saying looking at stats like that doesn't really say much at the end of the day because now in 2013 we have conversations as to whether Donny will be able to be considered 1 of the best with Steve and Sammy, not what place in the points did he take in 1999. And the argument of "there are a dozen other drivers who could have done better than he did" is a mute point because we don't know cause it didn't happen. The  only thing we know for sure is he did finish higher in points than Steve Kinser, Jason Sides, Kraig Kinser, Kerry Madsen and Chad Kemenah to name a few in 2013, I don't think any of those names are ones to sniff at and blow it off as easy pickins.

I say good for Kasey Kahne for going with and sticking with a young driver and helping to grow the sport with fresh new blood. There is something to be said about young drivers being the ones that attract new, young fans. By all accounts I've talked to Cody a couple times in hotel parking lots while they were working on the car and he was very nice to talk to and was interested in talking to me, a fan.

I like Cody and think he's a tremendous talent. However, I think he should have stayed a little longer in Pa to gain more knowledge.

But, you have to seize oppurtunities when they come along. No one in their right mind would have turned down that ride.

I just hope that team is not turning into the "test team" for KKR.

Nothing to argue with you on--good points.

I was simply not liking the Darrah vs. 60 yr. old Kinser talk.  That is just stupid.

y'all should give up on the cody thing. whoever pays the bills on that team makes the decision and they obviously think their money is spent well. and if the money is coming from joe darrah to get his kid a lesson in the big leagues, im sure its cheaper than if he was to field a team strictly out his pocket and resorces. i think if cody "lost" the ride, the car and parts would be split up and it would be one less car KKR would run so its not like he is taking a seat from anyone.

I agree with you too egras, thats a hard argument to make and not right, although the way Steve's been running this year so far he may just make us all think twice about some of the posts this board saw last year. I hope for him he puts together a strong year so he can go out like the champ he is. I know he likely won't win a points championship but at least let everyone have a glimpse of what made us all call him "The King". Look at the farewell show Rahmer put together for everyone last year!

I was not making this a Darrah vs Kinser argument.  I'm trying to give credit to the kid and I used a living legend in the sport as an example.

Do people forget that Joe Darrah and now Ollie's is funding most of the KKR 4 team? Put the Darrah bashing to rest. He simply out drove TK last season at River Cities. The dude can wheel a sprint car. Let it go.
