I know he was reported to not running the WoO, but isn't it remarkable how he lasted 2 season FULL Time? What kind of job does he have? How did he even accomplish that?

Not that I'm saying your wrong because you could very easily be more in the know than me on it but I know in the past during Outlaw commentary they would say that he had a job back home and would go home during the week and work. Does he own a business or what? I would guess just your regualr 9 to 5 job wouldn't be able to accomidate you also running the Outlaws schedule.

Since the Outlaws have been primarily a "weekend show" the past few seasons, it would be fairly easy to hold down a regular job and follow the Outlaws full-time (as a driver) provided you have crew guys that can maintain the car and drive the hauler up and down the road (outside of the CA swing, everything is doable by car from where he lives in Indiana by just taking 1 day of vacation a week (and sometimes that wouldn't be necessarry as they are racing within a few hours of his home base).
Now that the Outlaws have added back in more mid-week shows, it would be a lot harder for someone with a full-time job to do it (back the in the hey-day of the Outlaws, mid-week shows were a weekly occurance (that's how they ran 100+ nights).

I agree Vande, but from what I understood on Bill's deal he was pretty much a 1 man operation. Wrench, driver and hauler driver, outside of friends helping when they could. Thats why I always thought it was hard to understand how he had a job as well. But I'm sure they said he would work during the week as well. The only thing that would make sense is if he owns a business and could come and go as he wanted.

yep, seen him unbelt from the car on a red, switch rear bars ect ,belt back in and finish the race, only one other gentelman helping him.. guained alot of respect for him that night, not many do that nowadays, i believe he did work regularly back home, Id say he gave Gravel the oppertunity to widen his wings under his injury, Gravel raised some brows bigtime, good for him, sure hope he ahas some dates in mind to continue at least part time, good to see him out there competing, boy, thats two hard funded teams possibly dropping. CK and Bell

He had to spend close to a million bucks, he did race every race the past 2 years, minus his injury right?
Man sure loves to race though can't ever take that away from him! RESPECT

Think it was two seasons ago. The WoO were in mid Cali. They had a night off so he drove down about 300 miles to run with the CRA 410 non wing guys. I can remember when we saw him regularly at the PAS. Bill is a true racer.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Bill does construction type work like room additions and remodels or as he tells me AFM (anything for money) and yes he did the two years with only one helper named Roger, when Gravel came on board they had more guys but before that it was definitely a one man band.Bill's a great dude who just loves to race and I'm glad to have known him for the years that we've been friends.

By no means would this endevor be easy, Just attending family functions flights, traveling and staying focused would be a handfull to overcome, definetly not for the faint of heart, yes, the bigger funded teams with a boatload of help would definetly make it Easier, but who needs a routine job when your in the hotseat anyway? Rose was driving his own Hauler last i seen, and a class act on the track, a few of us could take some pointers from this guy.. And he ran respectably well all things aside, I cant dawg him one bit..

Not quite sure where that was reported, but don't count him out yet...
And yes as mentioned before, he's got a construction business.

Well, if he is still in , remind me to purchase one of his shirts, we were pitted next to him one night , he ran ok for the night, not exceptionaly well, but, I believe he did move forward a bit, anyhow, a drunk from the stands approached him kinda acting querky.. not mean, just in his "own world" type of deal. Rose just played along shaking his hand asking him questions, High fives, you name it, it was pretty comical and I think Rose was entertained off the drunks enthusium.. It showed me how to handle people that are a bit too much, many drivers turn into snobs, and not just drivers, you know the feeling when you arrive to a party late, everybody has been gettn buisy long before your sober ass shows up. It was comical, I had to laugh, I didnt know who was feeding off of who. pure harmless and in good fun. again class act.

Spoke to him once, very nice guy and down to earth. I liked him before that night, I became a big fan of him after. The guy busts his ass to live a dream, nothing but respect for him.

I rarely buy driver's shirts any more, but when I did I always tried to support the low budget guys like Bill Rose. I knew that doing so was more appreciated by those type of teams that needed the money to keep doing what they loved. I also loved wearing shirts from more obscure teams to Knoxville. It often started conversations that turned into friendships. A win/win situation for all.

Exactly, its too EZ to purchase a shirt from a Fan favorite, I forgive the newbies to the sport, they need someone to pull for, but, once you get to know the behind the scene specifics of a driver and his personality it makes for a personal quest , if the driver makes a good showing on a givin night the afterparty is way better!.. Always, root for the underdog, in dog/horse racing thier odds pay the best.. Ive always been raised with the odds against me,my teams, my favorites, guess thats what keeps a guy going.. embrace it.own it.wear it. nothing to be ashamed of. guys with all the resouces to deliver and piss it down thier leg are the fools. kickn them with less is salting a open wound, there's nowhere but up from the bottom.
