If you want to help the team, do it. If you don't like their methods, don't.
Whats the big deal?
By the way, I could use donations to go to Indiana Speedweek....

mortgage your house like everyone else does, get a part time job, or two. a sense of accomlishment is the key here, you will feel much better doing it on your own or. give up racing...simple
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

I will probably get some hatred for saying this but here goes. I really do respect the " scruffy" story! But.... if I came on here and ask u all to send me funds to help buy a new truck that I really couldn't afford more than one of you would probably offer some constructive criticism. I realize this probably puts a target on my back but so be it.

With all due respect, there's a slight difference between their race team and your business. Your business supports you. It doesn't entertain anyone, you don't have thousands of people watching you, there aren't magazines written about it, tv shows talking about it, message boards following it. You put food on the table with it. That's admirable. The members of the Shark Racing team already do that, without any help from you (not me for sure) I'd imagine, just like the rest of us. ON TOP OF THAT, they field some race cars, entertain a lot of people (including you and me). They put their lives on the line weekly to entertain you. Asking for sponsors is a pretty typical thing in racing, right?Besides that, I believe the original link was to a contest to win money? What the hell is wrong with that? You don't like that you simply don't click on it. The bashing of a race team on here is pretty pathetic, by "race fans"? I don't give the homeless money when I walk buy, but I don't kick them in the face for asking either. Only on Hoseheads would a post like this turn into a chest thumping contest about how hard you work to make a living, all by yourself. Wow.

Ur a dick then! I will give the homeless money. They r trying to survive! Oh ... but speak an oopinion about someone that "entertains" someone and you're bashing. Ur a pinhead for making the comparison thanks for pointing it out to me . Oh, and before u thump your chest about it u should probably know what the original post was reallly about .

By your comparison.... 25 people sit at the dinner table of my employees collectively. You say thousands r " entertained " by who you have ur panties in a knot defending. great analogy. Did u not read the part where I said they had my support? Make a shirt I'll buy one for 30$ No u probably didn't cause u Were gegeographically offended weren't u? Sponsorship generally entails something in return for my money . I know how it works. You see I've sponsored quite a few sprint cars in my life. How many have u sponsered? You ever put 5 figures of ur hard earned money into someone else's racecar for one season to support the sport u love?

Well...after I put a second morgage on my house and leveraged everything else I had to buy a business, i worked every day for almost a yr to make sure I was successful. I NEVER asked anybody for a handout! It was my dream to own my own business and b successful at it. In all that time I've never had time to "feel sorry for myself".

Not sure what they are asking for because the post is deleted, but Scruffy has been racing sprint cars for over 50 years. The guy has paid his dues 100 times over. Who really cares if they are asking for sponsorship? They need it more than any other Outlaw team. They say he doesn't even live in a house anyway, he lives in his race shop and they build everything themselves. Who the hell are you to hi-jack their post? No one cares if you took out a second mortgage. The mortgage crisis is damn near what just sunk America, because they gave a bunch of jackasses like you 125%. Scruffy has done things the hard way his whole life. With no money.

1 . I didn't hijack the thread by myself did I? you're helping right now dumbass.
2. Now im responsible for the mortgage crisis? Wouldn't I have to have defaulted on my loan to have some form of culpability for that whole fiasco?
3. Racing for a living is sketchy at best! Once again go back and read how many times I've said I respect his story and what he's done.
4. Maybe I should auction the Bob Lorton print of the 1990 shark car that I have in my basement. I could donate it to their cause, which would b more than any of u chest thumpers have done to support them. Any bidders?

Good Idea. Send it to them so they can auction it off at their fundraiser on Jan 25th.

Found this...
Shark Racing is trying to raise funds to help with the expenses the team will face with the increased travelling it will do in 2014 on the WoO circuit. The need is especially great at the beginning of the season, as the series doesn't pay registered drivers tow money until they compete in the first five races of the year. The series starts Feb. 14-16 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., where the car counts are usually fairly high since not many other sprint car races are being held at that time due to winter weather. The series then travels west to Nevada, Arizona and California. In past years there have several rainouts during the California swing, which could pose a big problem. Being far away from home and watching it rain without a paycheck can put a sprint car driver's season into the red very quickly.
Shark Racing is reaching out to its fans and potential new fans to try to raise enough funds to get its season off to a good start. The team would also like to partner with companies that would benefit from the advertising exposure they'll generate throughout the nation all year.
Tickets are already on sale for the fifth annual "Shark Racing Sponsor/Fan Appreciation Night" at the Cross Keys Inn Banquet Hall, 6110 York Road in New Oxford, Pa. from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25. A $25 ticket includes food, beer, drinks, live entertainment and access to an auction of racing items. Guests must be 21 to partake of alcoholic beverages.
Tickets can be purchased on-line through PayPal; e-mail Michael Newman at [email protected] for more information. Tickets can also be purchased at Newman's Food Mart and Shell Station, 403 Broadway St. in Hanover, Pa., or at the Speedway 94 go-kart facility at 1724 Hanover St., Hanover, Pa. The event is always a sell out.

Looks like even Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart gave things to be auctioned off at fundraiser. You will be in good company.

Sorry, I don't understand all your high-falutin' business owner jargon. Put it on ebay then if you want to auction it yourself, post ebay link in this thread so people can bid on it and then send Scruffy the procedes yourself.

Please do not b confused, it is a print of the original sketch that I bought directly from Bob Lorton himself. I still haven't been able to get the pic on here. Maybe Jacob can post the pic I emailed him. Let the bidding begin!
