All that matters is that Gary is ok. There is no reason to sit here and lay blame on someone. It sounds like it was a mistake/poor judgement, and we all make mistakes and learn from them. All of you drivers can not tell me you know what the other driver is going to do, and you dang sure aren't mind readers-if you are then feel free to tell me what I'm thinking LOL. I don't know how long F2 has been driving, but if he doesn't have a good handle on the car, then yeah he needs to start on the back. Obviously this didn't happen on the start, so being on the back wouldn't matter much in this instance. I can actually say that I've watched Gary since he started running in Lawton, and I've never seen him outright hit anyone, but he tries his best to avoid others. If you can tell, I'm a big fan of Gary's, and my kids just adore him. Yes, I'm upset that he got hurt, but I can't spend my time being mad at anyone over the deal. Just glad that he's ok and that he get's well soon!

BTW has anybody bothered to talk to the F2 like a decent person and try to help him out, give him pointers, ect?

Silver Fox 14 I see what you're saying, and for the most part I agree. I think the drivers though should know their limitations and start on the back...........with that said, would that have made a difference? Then he'd a been lapped 3x in that race instead of 2.

Christina you are right as well. I doubt many have tried to help the guy. There are a lot worse drivers than the F2 at SFS..........funny we don't hear them being bitched about. This F2 guy shouldn't be a bad guy overnight because of that. It's not like he did anything intentional. He ain't that good and another driver made a high risk move. If it was any other situation I imagine Owens puts A LOT of room between the 2 cars to avoid contact.........but he was tryin to make the show so he took the chance. It wasn't a completely bonehead move on either of their parts. And "on the gas" why don't you show him a thing or 2? Give him a couple of pointers or suggestions - I don't know the guy but who knows he may listen and learn a thing or 2 from it. If guys who weren't that good just packed it up and quit then local sprint car racing would cease to exist......I imagine when you started out you got in the way a few times yourself. And since then you learned some stuff---maybe even from some other drivers.......so respectfully suggest a couple things and increase the chances of it NOT happening again.

And where would it help if he went to champ sprints. champ sprints have much the same competition as the super sprints.......just not as many of em.

I know that when Josh Close was starting out, his Dad always started him at the back.  Did he get in the way of lapped cars? ya, a couple of times.  I think Josh had a pretty good relationship with most of the other drivers and if he made a mistake he would go apologize.  Starting at the back is a great way to get "comfy". Until the leaders come around to lap ya.  Too bad I had to miss last Friday, DAMN!

That might have made a difference right there. Somebody said he made the comment that "it wasn't his fault." Well, with that attitude then he should be put to blame. If he would have went and apologized, that would go over awhole lot better as drivers do make mistakes.

Heck, there are some that has been out there for years that,,,,,oh nevermind.

F 2 is an idiot. I passed him at lawton for the lead after he drove me in the infield for 5 laps in a row. When I passed him he left turned me and started flipping. Then him and about 10 guys wanted to fight and I was there alone. I think he needs to get out of a race car and maybe even a street car. JMO

Definitely an apology makes a difference, but I've heard some say that they have tried to apologise and it just made things worse as the other person was still too hot headed at the time. Anybody who knows Gary would also know that he can be approached very easily without the worry of getting your butt stomped.

I forgot about the F2 running Lawton, so that says he does have some seat time. I can't remember how he drove, so I can't comment on his driving style. Seems like a lot of you guys have had problems with him though. I don't understand why he would say "it wasn't my fault". That's just not the right thing to say. IMO it shows you do not care about your fellow drivers. Instead he should of said something along the lines of "Is he ok, sorry I didn't know he was there/coming up around me, ect." Mistakes do happen, but fess up to them!

Ok, now I'm mad....I'm going to go bake some cookies for the kids....If anybody has talked to Gary or Glen since they got home, let us know how he's doing!

thats a good point fellas. And if thats the type of fella he is..........then he probably wouldn't be very open to any suggestions........better yet learn from em. I guess all you can really do is put as much room as possible between his car and yours.

Mitch talked to Gary today.

He said is having double vision and a big headache along with bruised lungs and some banged up ribs. Needless to say he is extremely sore.

He told Mitch that he was going to set out this week.

F2 ran Champs at :Lawton for a while. He was one of the reasons some of the OKC Champ cars quit going to Lawton. He crashed most of them.

I am still wondering if Greg Moore is going to fix his vinyl wrap for him.

Don't worry David, they are chocolate chip LOL. I doubt I can make it up there this Friday, but we will make it before the season is over....Hopefully! We've been trying to get up there and it's either rained out or we are working. We are doing so great, that we've only made it out to Lawton twice this season!

Thanks rgosey for the update! I think it's perfectly understandable for him to sit out this next week possible 2. OUCH!

That's sad that Farmer chased the city guys off. For the life of me, I can't place him. Guess I'll have to look to find a pict of his car he ran down here, then maybe I'll remember.

If this is the guy I am thinking he has been run sprints for years and has not got any better! We ran against him like 15 years ago a Dutton Speedway. I remember him hang a outlaw mini sprint (multi) by the front wheel on front straightaway fence. I think he drove (and I use that term loosely) a #55 back then.

The F2 stiffed me on a $700 wrap. He's an ass hole!

Your an Asshole, $700.00. I could have done that with a can of Krylon, Lil' Bud's plotter, and a Sharpie.

LMFAO!!!!!

I seem to remeber that F2 car takin out a few people down in Lawton.......it's been about 4 or 5 years ago and I don't really remember in detail. I think Blake Dacus ran as teammates with him (if nothin else their cars looked almost identical) and Dacus, from what I remember, was a lot better than Farmer.

But if Farmer was the reason a lot of the cuty guys quit goin down there........whats their reason now?

If its the 3d car (DeLuca) I'd completely understand. And plus Robert Sellers is very tough to beat down there. BTW I saw he didn't win this past weekend............anybody know what transpired during that feature?

After his flip he can't get the car running right. He pulled off during the feature,I think he would have still been OK but the track was one line, just couldn't go anywhere so rather tearing something up he pulled off.

I don't know who you are "big mike, but my impression of you so far is that you are a very little person! You can go stick a bar of soap in that mouth! Only a grown man would know better than to talk like that!

I personally don't think any of these posts are funny, as it's about someone who got hurt, and you shouldn't say nobody on here knows what they are talking about. Obviously you can't read either, as a few of us stated the fact that he probably didn't know Gary was coming up behind him.

Grow up!

I forgot to add. If you are a friend or on the F2 crew, I feel sorry for him right now. It's not only a driver that gives themselves a bad name, but people like you that ruins any fan base they may have!

Have a nice day!

First off ascs"machanice", I abbrivated your little "f" bomb as everybody will find it not appropriate. For one, myself (although I have screwed up in the past, I don't feel this was one).

I will not, however, go through and make all the puncuation and speeling changes and will leave all that alone. All that speaks for itself.

You mention not one person knows what they are talking about. Well, among the posters are four drivers (that are definate with one semi-retired) with one of them being a former SFS super sprint champion. He signed his name by the way. There are also two known mechanics and all have been attending SFS for many, many years. There are those who are second generation people who have been around the track, both on and off and have dealt with rookies. So with all that mentioned above, I do believe there are those who do know what they are talking about. Instead of getting on MY message board and playing "Billy Bad A&#," why not talk to some of those drivers out there at SFS and ask for their assistance? There is nothing wrong with asking for advice or some help from those guys out there who, for the most part, would do anything for any driver. BUT, one must not get off on the wrong foot and I hope that with your post, it has not.

I am all for somebody getting on here and defending themselves or a good friend, it should be that way. Thus, your post is somewhat welcome.

I will say, however, that you threatening people who post their thoughts will not be accepted on this message board. Not to mention, you may rethink your request. If I recall, any crew memeber fighting in the pits will cause their driver to be suspended for a period of time. Not sure on that part but I am sure somebody here would know.

That is all I, David Smith, Jr. has to say on this subject and I trust that you respect what I have to say by the above mentioned and show a little class about yourself.

Thank you.

Big Mike, When Lee moved from the mini-sprints to the Super Sprints, he voluntarily spent 13 weeks starting on the back. Learning to drive the car, hold a line, trying to be smooth and consistent and get faster without being in the way. Mistakes have been made along the way and more will be. That is called the "learning curve". This is all people are asking of the F2.
