Does anyone have any info on Gary's condition? They said he was OK, but I heard in the pits that they took him to the hospital. Anybody know his status? Thanks.

I talked to Glen this morning and they were still at the hospital. They were concerned about one of his lungs, but they were hoping to get released this morning.

I heard they were worried about a possible concussion too. Any word about that, or was it just the lung? Hopefully it's not serious. Thanks for the info.

As he was being lapped for the second time, the f2 car moved up going into turn 3 and Gary climbed his right rear and flipped very hard all the way to the half-mile. He got out , but went to the hospital later.

He turned into me on the front stretch during the start. I don't think he did it on purpose, I just think he's that bad.

All I know is the F2 was not very fast Friday night, and he was in everybody's way. Gary got the worst of it.
Last report I heard was from some friends who visited him in the hospital Sat afternoon - 2 bruised lungs and a major headache. His helmut was cracked. They said he was feeling better and ready to get out of there. He went home around 6:30 Sat.
What a stretch of bad luck, tho. That's 2 mangled cars just in the last week. But at least he's home. Hang in there, Gary!!

yeah as they were fighting for the 5th and final transfer spot going into turn 3 on last lap.......Joe Jr. went low so Gary went high trying to make a move on the outside to get in the show.......and right as Owens was going high around F2.........the F2 moved up and it didn't look like Gary had anywhere at all to go.
What resulted was a nasty, nasty wreck. Made me feel like I did right after Gastineau hit the front stretch wall. Very fearful that they were hurt awfully bad. Hope Owens has a speedy recoverey..........and also hope we see him on the track again soon.

Thanks for the update guys!
Sounds like it was a very nasty wreck! Glad to hear he's home!
Get well soon Gary, and we hope to see you back in a car before long...don't rush it though. Take time to heal first!

I heard the F2 said he didn't have anything to do with Gary's wreck. It didn't look that way to me.
It is alright to go slow, if you can stay out of the way, but if you are slow and in the way, you need to get off the race track.
In F2's case, he probably needs to stay home.
Maybe Greg Moore can fix his wrap, because part of it go tore up in the wreck he didn't cause.

The wrap looks exactly like the paint job that was on the car before.

I know some won't agree with this........but I don't think it was really the F2's fault. yeah he was slow........but when 03 went low Gary's only chance was to go high..........F2 didn't know any of that......I imagine he moved up because he saw all the guys goin under him and was tryin to stay out of their way. I just don't see where anyone was really at a complete fault there.
And if he needs to quit or stay home because he is slow and won't get out of the way.........then what do the same people have to say about Dutch? I see him get in a hell of a lot more people's way than the F2.
but thats JMO. I was watchin it same as any of ya'll and I don't see where the F2 screwed up anymore than just being a slower car that became an obstacle for 2 cars battling for a transfer spot. Seems like a damned if you do-damned if you don't-type of deal.

Okcfan12, you may be right , he may have been moving out of the way to let the faster cars go by but, most racers would tell you that they would perfer that anyone starting out or learning to just find a line a stay there. Don't go high to avoid faster cars and don't go low just stay where you've been running the whole race. If you get hit it's not your fault its thiers. The worst thing I've seen, and I did not see the wreck, is in the previous weeks he can't keep the car going in a straight line and guys don't know what to do when they catch him at a bad spot in the track. Bottom line to me is that the track should make him start at the back each week until he can prove he can control the car in reasonable manner.
