As the premier sanctioning body for dirt track racing in the United States and Canada, the World Racing Group (WRG) needs to lead when it comes to safety.

No one official (with skin the game), including the super teams of Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart, have come forward with their findings (I mean root cause) specific to the right front stops falling off.

It appears as though the relationship between manufacturers and teams is more important than exposing the truth. We can only assume this to be the case, because not one single team and or supplier has come forward and identified the problem. I am convinced, until someone proves otherwise, that a "smoking gun" does in fact exist.

In times of crisis, we need a leader. It's time for the WRG to own this issue; identify the root cause (not just a temporary fix); and ultimately implement a corrective action.

All I hear the sanctioning bodies and track promoters talk about is how can we get more cars. Well how about we start by protecting the ones that already exist.

Name one track that has removed their tire barriers since Tony's accident? Tell me what the WRG is doing to address the death and injury associated with the RF stops! The answer my friends is NOTHING!

Its time for the WRG to lead...

I agree with you, the WRG shouldbe the ones leading the safety charge.  Unfortunately, that is not the case, it will be left up to the manufacturers to deal with (and they have no reason to change anything as a wrecked car or broken parts and pieces need to be replaced (so they make more $$$).

IMO, the WRG would rather focus their attention on making more $$$, which means sanctioning more races, obtaining more sponsors, etc., etc., and more than likely, implementing new rules on tires or wings that won't have any effect on the racing (none of them race, they just "think" they know better what to do than the guys sitting in the cockpits do (everything I've ever read or seen, the drivers say the WRG never asks for input on how to make the cars harder to drive or what would make the motors less important to try to increase car counts (and that's always straight from the driver's mouths in print and video).

A safety innovation that isbeing implemented in 2014 is front axle tethers developed by Brian Butler and John McCoy from the Knoxville Raceway (I hear it is being implemented NATIONWIDE at all tracks / sanctioning bodies).

Saftey over weight. I'd go with saftey. The problem is the teams already bring up the fact they are a few hundred pounds heavyer than they were 10-15 years ago. WRG have been overly lucky to have the record they have when it comes to serious accidents (knock on wood). Tony will get the torque tube problem figured out, the RF tortion stop rule has to be fixed. Also more saftey engineering needs to happen with these cars.

Knoxville has done their part, now it's time for the WRG to step up!

The car that spun and collected Stewart hit a tire barrier...
