... Who?
I remember not too long ago Kinser was the man to beat. With that, along came the "Anybody but Kinser" chant.
I wonder how many people who are saying "Anybody but Schatz" now wouldn't mind to see good old SK up there again.
While I understand the sentiment of wanting to see someone else win things for a change, I can't help but to have an unbelievable amount of respect for someone who is so dominating over such a long period of time. Especially in an era where competitors are so equally matched. You couldn't necessarily say that about the 80's and 90's when Kinser was dominant.
With the format and the competition as hard as it is year after year, it is truly a task to win year after year.
To me, it's almost just as fun to watch someone dominate as it is to not have a clue who will win, maybe even more fun.
It's like King of the Hill... we know who is on top... let's see if anyone can knock him off. Everyone had the time of their lives last time it happened when Tim Shaffer won.
So to all of you who chant "Anybody but ______"...
.... enjoy these years, they just may be the best ones.
