Don't think I'm going to make it either, my vertically challenged friend. Cuddle up to the Mrs. for me though and we'll catch up sometime soon.

You dont have to worry about me Stubb,I'll be passing up Eldora and will be at the "nondescript" I-69 speedway in Gas City,Indiana (Andre Weich's words) for Indiana Sprintweek.

I've seen you in action with Skippy a couple years ago,and it was not a pleasant sight. I still have nightmares about seeing it..............

Yep, there's nothin' like open wheel trailers pullin' 1995 no namers to race side by side modified style, vs. the 135 mph best in the bizness, enjoy the dust. You missed their peak by half a decade Andrew, Take It Easy....

PS Okey, the USAC guys dominate, like nobody knew, lol.....

Yeah watching sprint cars sure beats sitting home. Instead of being a Tony Stewarts track,I'll be watching his 2 cars with his no name drivers in them.

What track will you be at next Saturday night watching sprint cars at??

USAC teams dominate? I don't think team Foxco, the 92 (Daron Clayton) or the Edison #10(Shane Cottle) are fulltime USAC teams.

Everyone have fun whatever you do in two weeks.

A.Q.,

Sorry about your luck, but if you are hoping that the Kings Royal crowd are going to feel sorry for you you are mistaken. Your choice. The Big E is not that far from Gas City and Gas City is at least a decent race track. But for my money I'll watch the 130 - 140 MPH slid jobs and maybe get in on some of Stubbs b'bqed chicken over the 90 MPH sliders going on t G.C.

Thanks for the invite Stubb, but I'm with ASQ and will be following ISW.

I'm guessing that BBQ chicken will be "wings"? LOL

Hope to see you and the Mrs. sometime soon in Indiana.

Figures MSPN would chime in and make this a wing/non-wing deal, while he's headed to Saskatoon for the dogsled races....

I remember the Main One saying something about hitting Lawrenceburg last year but we both made our first trip to Noth Vernon and saw one hell of a race. Thanks to Dave Allison we won't see that one again this year.

I'm sure ASQ knows about dust as well since he attended the WoO race at Eldora in April. Smoke has fixed a track that wasn't broke.

Dunno if the Main Stubb will have wings or not. As I recall from this past April, that he was a breast man. Certainly nothing wrong with that, I'm quite often a breast man myself.

I'll certainly miss seeing all 4 foot of the Main Stubb, and the lovely Mrs, Gail, but I understand why he'll be at Eldora, and he knows why I'll be at Gas City. We chatted about this in April, when Peter Physick and company were in town for the WoO race. While Peter and the Mrs were still sleeping, Stubb was cooking away, despite the crappy weather we had that weekend. Once in awhile you can have a really good chat with Stubb, and that was one of those times.

Even if it werent Indy Sprintweek, I still wouldnt go for the Kings Royal. I just dont like winged sprintcars there. If theres nothing else to see around here, like early in the year, I'll go, usually more for the social aspect of things. If they were running midgets at Belle Clair Speedway in Illinois that weekend, I'd drive 3 hours over there to watch the races, rather than the 2 hours it would take me to get to Eldora. As I said before, I want to go where I get the most bang for my bucks.

Not everyone likes non wing sprints. Not everyone likes midgets. Not everyone likes watching winged sprinters at Eldora. For those going to Eldora, I hope its good for you, and you have a good time. I know that the indoor beanbag champion will be having a good time. I'll be looking forward to seeing the Stubb down the road somewhere before the season is over.

Been following this one with interest. There was a similar thread on an Australian website a week or so back when the question was asked by a poster "If you were in America at Kings Royal time and Gas City was on down the road, where would you go"?

As you would imagine ASQ became involved as did I and many others with US based experience. The outcome was undecided however it did show that there are plenty, who would never have asked that question before, that are now thinking about an alternative. Previously, Eldora was the place to go. Not another thought would be given to going somewhere else.

Having said that though Eldora is a place that every speedway fan in the world deserves to see a race at. It is legendary to the the extent that first time visitors are mesmorised by its very presence and storied history with the cars appearing to look like they are in fast forward on a DVD. But lately having seen so much winged racing here in Oz, I'm leaning towards Andrew's view in that, I'm now super keen to develop an interest in non winged racing.

The ultimate weekend for me would be Sept 21st and 22nd and the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora. WoO on the Friday nite with the Mods and then the non winged midgets, sprints and Silver Crown cars on the Saturday.

However back to the Kings Royal weekend and I reckon I would be with ASQ at Gas City, provided however that I had earlier spent two or three days with Stubb & Gail to reacquaint myself with his chicken and the Washington Apples ....

winged/non-winged.........it's all good if we get to see a good race. yes this subject will be hashed over for many yrs. to come & i hope that we never have a definative answer as to what's better......it's mostly personal preferance. hell, we pulled into Putnamville a couple of yrs. ago & all the Indiana boys asked if i was there to see a REAL race.......i didn't have the heart to tell 'em that we had just seen Tim Schaffer (sp?) come from the rear to 5th (i think) at Eldora a few days earlier!! the Mrs & I have been accused of being just wing fans, but in reality, over the last 2 seasons, we've been to more wingless!!!! hell, come to think of it, the yardbird we have for the Royal is too!! well, they can't fly & don't need 'em anyway!!! Oscar is right about one thing, you must fist see/experience a facility before you can make an opinion of that place!! not long to go now!!!!
