Now I know that Derek Nader and Mike Peters and Stanley Reed and Loyd Clevenger and Gary Flatt and a few others strongly disagree with me but, to me, THAT was a racetrack we witnesssed tonight.

Great racing in ALL classes and outcomes were fairly close at the end. The drivers definately had to "drive" the race car tonight.

Good job to ALL you drivers tonight as it was very enjoyable watching from the stands all night long.

Stanley jammed his shoulder in the track pretty good so he was hurtin. To think there were the same amount of flips (2) in both sprints AND modifieds.

Everyone races on the same track.  Tough nuts.

under the circumstances I thought the track was great.......I think most everyone did. Yeah the tack had ruts in it but it wasn't like the grand canyon or anything. It wasn;t that bad at all. Somehow 18 other modified drivers managed to not turn their cars over.......the 2 that did made the same exact mistake in the same place. For once I have to admit......it wasn't anyone's fault.....Lanny and Slugo and the rest did a great job considering the tremendous amounts of rain received........it was as good as it possibly could have been. I imagine Stanley Reed would know by now it was his mistake on track conditions that were assisted by mother nature. After all he did come back out the next race after an awfully hard wreck and ran a good exciting race to beat Brill in the pro stocks.

So yes Nonwing hit the nail on the head. Same track for everybody. Tough nuts indeed.

If he thought that track was bad I wonder what he thinks of Meeker half the time......historically it has cliffs in it in the middle of DROUGHTS!! or Lawton for that matter.....turn 1 down there is rutted up every week.

And David SMith is right as well it brought some REAL RACING out by real drivers. No wonder Kyle Goforth and Joe Wood Jr. put on drivin clinics from the back of their features. I love it when not only good .... but CLEAN drivers win a features. Smile

I have never raced at Meeker with ruts that big. That was the worst racetrack i've ever had to run! The fans might have liked it, but when we are just trying to survive out there, thats not racing to me. And trust me, I was right behind Derek when he flipped and that was not a good feeling because I was going just as fast as he was. Made me nervous the whole race and I had no idea Stanley had flipped too until after the race.

I respect your opinion Deke......but I gotta disagree with you about the ruts. You raced on it at SFS so I won't disagree with how bad they probably felt when you drove over em.....but the 2 times I attended Meeker it was worse than that....the 1st of those I had a dirt clod the size of a watermelon chunked at me.......and I was sittin towards the top. I've walked around Lawton a few times and after walkin around the track friday I didn't think it was much worse. But there is a very very big explanation for those ruts in that track.........lots and lots of RAIN.

As much as I'll bash on Lanny for a whole slew of things......taken as a whole he does the best track prep out of any track in the state. His heavy equipment probably has a lot to do with that. And there is bound to be a few nights each year that the track is less than perfect. I figured most drivers would understand the track conditions with all the rain received. Considering the rain........what could have been done to make the track better? Would grading after the heats have helped??

I ran up to Dodge City for the Outlaws. That track was smoooooth, but one-grooved (high, they were flying). An Okie, Daryn Pittman, led all 30 laps in the Saturday night A to get the win.

Yes his tracks are better than most. Maybe in the past Meeker has been rough, but this track Friday takes the cake. But seriously, when 2 modifieds flip with no help, there has to be something said for that. I heard it made the news on channel 4. I dont know anything about have to prepare a track but something should have been done. Either grading it or at least letting us hot lap to see how a car would handle instead of just going balls to the wall and see what happens. JMO.

Just wait till this week , if SFS gets the rain like the weatherman says it is suppose to this week, might be rougher this friday , if it stops raining by then.

We thought the race track was about as good as all year! 2 lanes not to wet and not to dry come feature time! It was fun to watch.

Even though Flatt didn't make the feature? Which by the way shocked the pooh pooh out of me.

I think it just shows how tough the class is these days. 16 cars in 12 laps is just plain tough. Especially when you have people like Strike, Passemore, Sellars & Whit.  All fast guys in the B.

I agree. in the 10 min. intermission he coulda tore up the middle of the track in 3. These are all drawbacks to having a promoter who is not driver-friendly....in fact.....that almost doesn't care at all. Only cares when he is losing $$. JMO as well.
