You SUCK! I was OK with your greediness 2 years ago when you raised your
rates during the 360 & Knoxville Nationals $300 for the 10 day
period over that 2 weekend span without any notice. There were many
pissed off guests that told a lot of people of your selfish bullshit
business ethics. A noted member of the Knoxville community who heard
about this even complained to the
Chamber of Commerce about this. Paying $1300+ for convenience of
staying in town is a bit extreme but again, I was ok with it, I was
paying for the convenience. After staying there for the past 15 years
and dealing with 3 different owners, I have to say the current owner is
the wost greediest business owner in Knoxville, IA HP, you should be
ashamed of yourself for screwing people who stay there during the
regular season events and I hope you lost some business over this. You
pushed me over the edge yesterday when would not honor the same
reservations and accommodations I've had for the past 15 years! It was a
matter of 1 day of making this right and you refused! Please do not tell
me you could not find someone to rent the room on Thursday of the 360
Nationals for the day! Demanding all 3 days of that weekend was
definately not right! With that said, whoever wants this room can have
it! I will be staying a little farther away and paying a lot less for
better accommodations with people who value their regular clients. I
used to stay with them prior to waiting 10 years to stay locally in
town. Maybe someday you will get it loser!

Amazing, how I, an innocent Canadian, had that same issue with that hotel, last year. After a 16 hour drive to get there, I thought I was perhaps in a dream
Had a reservation for the final 360 race and the Sunday Usac race, and they told me that unfortunately, they couldn't honor that reservation. I told them to shove it where the sun don't shine and went over to Pella-and was treated very nicely by the hotels there.
Knoxville C of C, you'd better do something about this "deceptive practice" hotel, before it's disease spreads throughout your lovely town.

Trust me they are getting this info both barrels. I know for a fact the owner of this motel, HP Patel monitors this msg board. I also posted this same message to my Facebook page of over 900 racing friends, I think that should cover it! In the past when bad things have been posted here regarding his motel, he has ask me how to get them removed. I have always responded good luck. The only way it's getting removed unless the poster or site admin takes them down. They say a dissatisfied customer will tell 10 people about it. In today's day and age with all the social networking aspects, you now have the ability to tell thousands of people and I have no regrets doing this, I'm never staying at this motel ever again.

Everything else is skyrocketing in price at knoxville every year. I'm sure the attendance will show it again this year. I bet the over abundance of law enforcement don't get screwed on price at hotels.

Good news for all you race fans that stay in Knoxville . There are plans for a new motel on the south side of town., down by Wakmart. Plans are for it to be open for the Nationals this year. Will post any information that I receive about making reservations.

What exactly (besides hotels and Gas Prices) is skyrocketing in K'ville??
I happen to LIVE in K'ville, and if anything you get better deals the week of Nationals than you do the rest of th year at a majority of the food establishments.
Ticket Prices?? Can't be those, they've gone up incrementally ($2 per night) about once every 4-5 years and haven't increased since the 50th Nationals (so year 3 with same exact prices). Concessions cost the same at weekly events as they do during Nationals, so it must not be those either.
Yes, I do think the so called Hotels need to be reigned in on pricing. Only problem is, there must still be demand for the rooms or they wouldn't be able to increase the price.
Knoxville is still a bargain compared to many other events I've attended over the years. AC/DC tickets cost me $95 per, the played for 1 hour 45 minutes. Iowa Speedway, $65 to watch the IndyCar race that lasts 2 hours (food and drink are WAYYY more expensive than Kville).
Bottom line is that EVERYTHING is expensive these days. As the consumer, you get to decide if the extra $$$ it costs to stay in town at the Super 8 is worth it (for some it obviously is) or if you'd rather save the extra $$$ on lodging and spend it elsewhere but be inconvenienced by staying out of town (if you are one of the people that like to party after the races and walk back to your hotel, the extra $$$ it costs is NOTHING compared to an OWI ($8500 for first offense last I heard). If your not a drinker and you don't mind driving 20-40 minutes after the races, can't blame you for staying in Pella, Newton, Chariton, Albia or DesMoines.
As far as the extra law enforcement goes, neither the City or County has any control over the State Patrol (who seem to be the only law enforcement that everyone has an issue with writing "so called" speeding tickets). Knoxville recently hired a new City Manager in mid 2012. I know he is VERY CONCERNED about people's issues during Nationals. Best thing that people can do is make sure they obey the laws (if you're walking down highway 14 with an open beer, odds are if local police see you, they will just ask you to pour it out, if state patrol sees you, they will likely write you a ticket).

$1300 for 10 days isn't too bad in my book. (but luckily, I live in K'ville, so I don't have to choose between driving out town for a hotel or the extra $$ for the convenience).
Cobblestone Inn (with LOCAL OWNERSHIP) is planning on building a NEW Hotel in Knoxville on Eric Drive (Behind Fareway Grocery Store) with hopes to be open by Nationals.
Go to any place an vacation and you're gonna be lucky to not spend that in 3-4 days on lodging. Looking at traveling with the family to Colorado this summer on a vacation, haven't found any DECENT hotels (Even a Super 8 or comparable) for less than $180/night (before taxes). There are some Bed Bug Inns out there, but even they want $130/night.
Almost every place I've looked at has a minimum of 2 night stay except during their "peak season" where the minimum stay is a week (rates are DOUBLE during their "peak season" as well, so that $180/night is $360/night instead for the same rooms from 1 week to the next.

You say 1300 for 10 nights that's 1300 / 10 nights so 130 a night. That's cheap compared to everywhere else in the country. Hotels in small towns up their prices all over a d this is 2012 era where most places will require a minimum stay if they can get but with it . If this place isn't for you then move on cause I'm sure someone else will glady take the spot to be that close to all the action. Knoxville is such an awesome racing venue and nationals are no exception. You can always stay in a motor home. We have never had anything but praise for the Chamber of Commerece, Food Vendors, coffee shops, security, bars etc. You just got to behave yourself act civil and enjoy the show.

You did not read carefully what I originally posted. The price is not the issue and I realize $1300+ for 10 days is a premium considering there are only 2 motels in town. I was certainly willing to pay this for the convenience as stated twice. My bitch with this owner is the fact he would not honor my reservation and accomadations I've had for 15 years and I had already paid a deposit up front. I normally arrive on the Friday of 360 Nationals and stay the following week on Sunday. He stated the fact I'm not staying the full 3 nights of the 360 Nationals I could not check in until Sunday forcing me to find another motel anyway.
It's a huge inconvenience to move to and from motels on this vacation as I usually bring enough stuff for a small apartment for this stay. As mentioned, he has done this for me every year and to start pulling this crap now is just absurd. It's not like he would have a problem selling the room for one lousy night! Regardless of his policy, he should have made that clear last year the rules have changed to give people a fair heads up so they could make other arrangements if needed. As one responder already stated, he traveled a great distance to arrive and find out his reservations were not being honored just like mine. We both made the choice to tell him to shove it. I fully realize there may be 100 people waiting for the opportunity to get one of the 300 rooms available in the 2 current motels in town. My whole point here is to let as many people know of his business practice - Caveat emptor - let the buyer beware that this business owner is a sleaze ball. Rather than take the time to figure out how to deal that one night, he put's someone in a position to have to make a choice that affects the big picture of planning with no concern for a longstanding guest who may have referred other business his way. That's was his choice and I made mine, sorry.

I am a Green Bay Packer season ticket holder. If I want to stay in town after a game, I am subjected to the hotels doubling, in the best instance, to tripling the regular nightly price. If I want to stay, I PAY. If not, I don't..It is really a simple solution. I never know what weekend is 'my' game, so I reserve a room on all the weekends during that assumed time, at regular price, then when the schedule comes out, bump goes the room rate. All other reservations are cancelled. It has been like this forever. I do not like it, but it is what it is.....

Again, this is not the issue for this motel. Each room holder has a year to year agreement to take the room providing you pay your deposit months in advance. The example you stated is not the same, apples to apples. The complaint is changing the policy without informing anyone until the last minute.

I just spent $280 for 7 nights in Kissimmee Fla. $40/night, Real nice Hotel, 6 heated swimming pools and close to Disney. Last time (a few years ago) I checked Lake view rooms in the Upper end Hotels in Chicago were at around $150-$200/night. I guess it all depends on if you want a bed to sleep in whether or not you want to pay the rent! Seems pretty high to me for a Super 8 but it is the Knoxville Nationals. Other choices would be to buy a camper/tent or drive a longer distance to your hotel every night but with gas prices would it be worth the extra time and inconvenience of battling the traffic. $1300 though, wow that is pretty high for 10 days. I would have guessed more like $75/night to be the trumped up going price.

Wow, I stayed in Chicago 4 years ago, $200 a night for the hotel, but $50 in hotel/sales taxes and $47 per day for parking the car. Lakeview rooms were about $100 more per night (we stayed at the Westin in Downtown).
It all depends on the time of year you go someplace. I've never seen a Super 8 or Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn for less than $80 per night (prior to occupancy taxes, sales tax, etc.). Almost EVERY hotel room is $100 bill nowadays.
