I confirmed Marty Brieten being Boyd 'Bones' Brieten's son, through a mutual friend we have where I work.
I got an email from him stating that Bones built two coil-over front sprint chassis for Pikes Peak. this must be one of them. Bones didn't build the 4 -bar Shane has.
Great find!

i think you ment to say, bones assembled 2 aluminum cars while he worked at NANCE speed equipment. NANCE built the cars.
note those were built in the mid 1970's,prior to the design change which was introduced in 1979....

Adrian Rogers from Haysville welded the frames. Larry Foley also played a hand in building them.
I have a picture somewhere of Larry actually holding one of the frames over his head in front of the old shop on Wellington Place. Adrian was the best at welding alum and Titanium I have ever seen!
To my knowledge we never had a weld break

Whatever I meant, I only meant the best intentions. I was 'not' actually there, just in case my implications sound as if I were. Yes Nance would get the credit. I mostly recite what I've been told, as best as I can. There are holes in muh brane.
Yet like many people , I am fascinated by these aluminum frames that have been out there quietly all these years. Almost as mysterious as the Factory Lightweights for drag racing from Detroit in the 60's. Yet in this case, we only have confirmation of one car actually running on an oval dirt track- the 4 bar.
A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO DWANE FOR THESE PICS OF YET ANOTHER NANCE ALUMINUM FRAME.

anything I say here is not to argue with you.
Thank you for helping this get cleared up.
When you find the picture, could you post it on here, or get someone to do it please? That would be very cool.

I wish I could weld like that! That right there is an artform considering what the material was.

Remarkably both known existing Nance aluminum frames are in excellent shape.
Here's just a peek of the other one. It's still in the shipping container

What I would like to know is, is somebody like (Dwane) going to build something with this
frame? Also, Dwane when are you going to get Jelly to let you restore the #99? I would be
very excited to see the Orange #99 back at the race track.

I'm thinking this car would be before the serial number effort.

Brian
Unfortunately these emails don't always reflect the attitude in which they are written.
I never thought you were arguing with me. I appreciate your knowledge and your love and respect for my family Name. I was only attempting to fill in some of the gap. I was just very fortunate to be around when alot of this was taking place, but was a youngster at the time, so I am not always 100% correct. I have certainly learned alot by reading your responses and try to add some extra info in when I can. I grew up when Bones worked for us and watched him from the outside you might say. He is truly one of the greats in the sport, and I know my Grandfather had a tremendous amount of repect for Bones . Not taking anything away from Bones, He is an amazing guy, and someone I admired and respected as well.
