The California St. exit off the 101 will be closed for the weekend. Take the Seaward exit for the race track.

You can also take the next exit (after Seaward) called San Jon Road. At the end of the off ramp, take a left under the freeway and right on to Harbor Blvd. Proceed past San Jon Rd. and California Street, left on Figueroa St. and you're at the Fairgrounds.

Really?
What exactly was the motivation behind your post? We've got a situation where the promoter at VRP is trying everything he can, with the resources that he has, to put on a show for fans of all ages and still find a way (via back gate with all the classes) to keep the lights on and put butts in the seats....and posts like this just take it one step backwards.
Ask my 3-year-old son if he's excited about the Monster Trucks, Fire Dragon, AND Sprint Cars tomorrow night. You might re-think your statement. He's also really excited to see Ronnie Gardner duke it out with the Williams boys. We're also expecting Corey Ballard, the Gaunt boys, and the other "usual suspects" to come play on the 3/8" clay oval. I'm sure none of them would like to hear that you think of them as "junk" class.
By the way, watch some of the videos on YouTube...those "junk" classes have put on some crazy-good racing this year. I admit that my travels to various tracks are in search of sprint car shows, but I am one of those hardcore fans that actually watch the support mains and really appreciate them. Heck, if it weren't for organizations like the California Lightning Sprints, we might not have had Greg Bragg, David Cardey, Darren Hagen, and many others racing Sprint cars with us today!
I hope your comment was simply made in jest...I'm sure it probably was. It is just tough for a passionate fan to hear. I personally hope we keep ALL of the local dirt tracks in place for a long time...but we won't if can't get your support!

Im getting real sick of this crap.
Youre going to pick up on Daves response to Rob and not Robs initial jab at the low fan count he is projecting for Ventura.
VRA scheduled this Oct 1 race far in advance of VRP scheduling the Monster Truck, Car eating whateverthehell and Sprint car show. But we wont mention that huh Doug?
I assume Dave will be supporting Ventura tomorrow, and I have seen him at VRP in the past. I feel that your comment is pretty far off base in this instance since Dave will even drive to Nor Cal to catch a wing show. Something the majority of this board wont do.
Im not sure what Ventura is running but I assume Dave will have to sit through at least six classes no matter which track he attends.

Buzz...
First, I'm not offended by Rob's comment because it is consistent with the playful tone he always has (he even ended it with an "LOL" to make sure it was taken lightly).
Second, I don't care what race track anyone chooses to attend over any other. If they're going to a local race track...GOOD! That IS what we need right now. I love Ventura. I love Perris. I love the Nor Cal wing show...that's where I grew up, and I've been very vocal on here about that. This isn't about tracks competing against each other. That is another topic. What I DON'T respect is all the negative zingers on here directed at ANY local racing. The point of my reply was to point out that some of this stuff can be misinterpreted and disrepect towards the local talent and promotion.
Whatever...this explanation is merely an exercise in futility. I knew I should have just kept to myself on this one. I'm done. From now on, I'm going back to using Lance's excellent website for what it was intended...to keep me informed. I'll keep my passionate comments to myself and let you guys decide who's the master of interpretation, wisdom, and rightousness...

Just wanted to bust Rob's cajones! I've been listening to a lot of dorks dissing Jimmy this year and then saying what a great guy the V'ville promoter is. Well Jimmy has been the patron saint of sprints and midgets for a long time and deserves support. Besides going to Ventura is like a private club, you know most of the drivers and half the fans.

when it comes to the few tracks we have left to race on here in so cal it might be good to just let the bad feelings go without posting them. i find things i dont like at almost every track i go to , but i still support them .its important to support sprint car racing as a whole and this includes the tracks we race on and the promoters that run them. its not about personality's , its about saturday nite at the track . it would be great if we could just fight about who the best driver is or maby who crashed who , or some of the rivalry from the stands . bashing the tracks and or promoters is not conducive to our sport , which at this time seems extremely fragile ..i am not directing this post at anyone !! i am simply stating my opinion ...i have said this before i like it best when they run sprint cars only ! i am intrested to see how the monster trucks affect the # of people through the gate .if that what it takes to get some new faces interested in sprint cars , well so be it .sometimes you gotta keep throwing shit at a wall until one sticks !!

So you are going to get all upset and take your business elsewhere, even though you say sprint cars "are my life"? I don't know, but it seems to me you have got it backward. Now I don't see anything wrong with venting your frustration on here, I think we all have some about the current problems we're having, but stomping your foot and saying I'm not going there anymore is counter productive to the sport you say you love, and will only make the problem worse. It also makes you sound like a big whoops..LOL If you don't agree, say why not! If you don't like how someone promotes, say how you'd do it different or better. Hell man, if you don't like the people who defend em fine, stand up to them; but don't stop supporting the sport you say you love.
Now someone said that Ventura was like a club, and maybe that's part of the problem. You guy's at Ventura have no right to bitch about Victorville running on the same night that you are when you have your own little set of "club" rules that worked in the past for YOU, but leaves cars sitting in the garage today.
Myth number one.. They race for us.

I was one of Steve's biggest backers when he started because of the way he was screwed by another promoter but schedulign against SM and now Ventura after he came on here and said he won't schedule against other tracks and apparently that was a lie. And I just went and looked at Ventura's rules and the only difference between there and SMS is the tire. So whats the excuse now? SMS guys cant run with Taylor, Rutherford, Kruseman and the rest, simple as that.

It looks to me more like those Ventura boy's who have the mean's $$ , just want to run with the "club", anyway... Look, if it's to far for the regular Ventura bunch (both teams&fans) to show up for a open comp race at Victorville, why should the fans who are closer to VV have to drive to Ventura? Last time I looked there's millions of people, and a hell of a long way's between those tracks.

Hi Derp....We are not trying to Schedule against any other Tracks....Problem is that Ventura has 3 Sprint Car Shows this month, and I have to run x amount of Dates per my contract or we get fined!!!! The other thing is that we saw from our 360 only Show, that even with Ventura off, the 360's really don't show up at Victorville...This is mainly a 410 Show that is open to 360's????....We said from the beginning that we would run 410 Sprint Car Shows to give who ever wants to Race a place to race. Doesn't matter if it's 20+ cars (Which we would like) or 10 Cars...(Which is more realistic) at least they have a place to come play!!!! it's sad, but it is what it is....Unless it is a USAC Show, you better have support divisions, and Monkey's riding elephants, if you want any crowd.......I will put money on it right now, before I head out to the Track....That we have less than 10 Sprint cars tonight, and a Bigger Crowd than we normally do.....It is almost noon.....Let's see at 11PM if I called it....Hope I am wrong about car counts.....But bet I'm not!!!!

There's not any non wing races over here for a couple of weeks Randy, but you my friend have what we all like, choices. The only choice I have here in AZ is a winged ASCS race in Tucson, and that's a 200+mile, and a 4 hour drive from here. In other words for this non wing snob, there's no choices at all.
