Whats up with Ventura raceway? It seems to that it is takin a turn for the worse. They lowered the purse,Then they have a high dollar race and instead of spreading the money around they have one big payout for the winner. The crowds are shrinking. We enjoy having the youngsters come in the pits after the main and let them sit in the car and get to know them a little. Now the show is so long they dont come down any more. They change the rules as they feel fit. They do play favorites.Make the rules known and stick by them please.Wheelpack all the cars and leave the 1st group on the track and put the others in the infield,so the 1st group can get some kind of idea on the setup. The track shak prices are a joke.We try to come prepared but sometimes you need to buy something at the track.Pleasse loose the my way or the highway attitude. It almost seems that some of us are the enemy. We just want to race near home and be treated with a little respect..JMO...Dean Buckley.....ps.If this makes you mad dont take it out on Derek.......

I couldn't agree more Dean it seems like Ventura has turned into a good-ol-boys club.I used to love going there but lately it seems after sitting through 19 kiddie car races the the VRA race sucks
maybe if they would run the 410s I might return,of coarse I'm just a fan and no one gives a damn about the fan at Ventura.

This sort of thing has been going on for a long time at Ventura. It is just a whole lot more visible with the downturn in the economy.

the guys that run there regularly seem to be ok with $100 to start. i think it is sad.these guys are running for a track championship . rarely do you see any of the ventura regs. at another track.its understandable that if you are running for a track championship, racing 2 or 3 times a month and it doesnt pay , why go to another track that barely pays more to start the a-main. all the kiddy classes and other classes they tag on to the sprint car bill just get more people in the back gate , which these days at tracks with low attendance is huge..i am fighting where ever i can get someone to listen , to spread the money , and ideas to fill the seats in the stands.. everyone that shows up has expenses some more than others.i think we could see more cars if all the money didnt go to the winner.it takes a lot of cars to put on a good show , and it costs the owners alot of money to get a car to the track..for the promoters to pay more it will take more fans in the seats...its going to take more than the promoters to fill those seats.its going to take everyone that cares about sprint car racing as a whole , to keep it all alive !!!

It is an uneasy partnership between the hard core fans, the racing teams and the track operators. As soon as this is recognized by all parties, it could be a powerful force towards building the fan count and eventually the car count.

team work is what it will take . if more people dont get involved ill give you a preview of the future :
remote controled full size xxx (chinese) sprint cars ( maby 3/4 scale) ?? running on a pre derermined computer program with smoke and fireworks and at the end robosaurus will grab the winning car , bite it in half , breath fire on it and take the checker !!! the stands will be full .what a fricken show !!.. why is that ???
we got guys workin so hard to race , puttin it all on the line , and only a few people wanna watch ??? i dont get it ...

Dean it seems like a lot of people have thrown their arms up in disgust over Ventura. It has been a my way or the highway style of promotion all along. At one VRA meeting I heard "if you don't like it go somewhere else" when a sugestion was given. Jim needs to use his ears more. What a shame.

i think most guys dont wanna rock the boat . the bad part is its all going away slowly . its going to take involvement by everyone that cares and then some to get a ballance back. ballance being fans in the stands , good car counts , and at minium reasonable payouts for all involved on the track. i have caught a little flack for posting here , but i wont sit and watch something i love evaporate ever so slowly . yesterday i solicited sprint car racing to 4 people i didnt know , today is victorville , and tomorrow when most are enjoying the holiday i will be helping to put a car together for someone i have nothing to do with just to get another car on the track..i am only 1 person but i will do anything i can to help... as some of you know im not afraid to put it all out there !! some people think i have crossed some invisible line at times , its complacency that will kill the racing .. its waiting till its too late ..get involved today !!!!

Naylor built the VRA sprints from scratch. Last year Ventura had the most sprints consistantly of any other track. Then he came up with the VRA midgets this year and we have great midget racing. What's not to like? So whine about sitting thru under classes, without them no Ventura.

why is it that every time someone says something on here that someone else doesnt agree with its considered whinning or sniveling !! there is not one single person out there that has all the answers... maby if people didnt get blasted so easly and frequently , more people would post... who know where a good idea can come from. maby its time to listen a bit more and quit with the defensive responses that limit who will post and what can be said according to some of the regulars that seem to try and control this site ... just a thought... i dont expect people to agree with me , it just makes sense to me , thats all !!!!

Derp that was un called for your an ass wipe this is a message board to share opinons not bash drivers i ran at ventura for years and have seen first hand naylor only cares for his series he dont give a shit about any others in my mind back in the day when scra ran there atleast once or twice a month they saved eachother then. Naylor built his360 deal screwd shuman wanted usac then screwd them he wants it all to himself and to screw the loyal 410 fans that were there for him in the mid ninties. When you go there now its like a circus and mr mahr isnt there a wing show up north to go watch since you were on here posting how good that boring follow the leaddr crap that is lol just teasing

It's not okay to bash drivers but okay to bash tracks? If we're going to bash tracks and you want to know who screwed SCRA, ask Mr. Kazarian, Budweiser, and TVPS.

Mr. Derp, to make such a ridiculous statement, you obviously know absolutely nothing of what went on between the tracks and SCRA.
Before we give this "Keyboard Coward" any creditability on any subject (s), check out all of his posts on this and all of the other message boards he posts on. Almost all negative and filled with trivial misinformation to insult people and stir up crap while hiding behind a screen name.

As a passionate fan Ventura rubs me wrong in a few ways and well if people disagree with me fine but these are what I dislike about the place:
1)The annoying announcing. Get rid of Naylor on the microphone and DO NOT put anybody else on the mic who isnt qualified (that kid especially). I honestly cant stand the ear splitting announcing at this joint.
2)The high prices for food and beer. I understand that its not in Naylors control but it still rubs me wrong to feel so ripped off.
3)The gestapo fairground security. They make you feel like your an unwanted visitor at THEIR home.
4)They wont book the 410s over what appears to be politics and nothing more. I could be wrong but thats the appearance.
5)Isolationist thinking in regards to the 360 sprint car rules.
Cheers!
