Yeah he lives there and that's his home. I believe him and Mandy still own a house out there too. But that doesn't change the fact that he drives or sometimes flies out to PA to race every weekend.
Woohoo the 100th post and still nothing has been accomplished.

Similar to Darrah and Wolfe owning homes in PA and being able to run in front of their family and friends at the Grove.

While most Oklahoma race fans were disappointed that the World Of Outlaws race was cancelled Saturday night at the Salina Highbanks - Daryn Pittman was waiting for the announcement of the make up date: Tuesday May 3rd! The rescheduled event allows Daryn to bring his #27 Heffner Racing Enterprises car to the Salina High Banks on May 3rd. Car owner, Mike Heffner, is allowing Daryn and Sean to make the 19 hour trip south west so that Daryn has the opportunity to race close to home again. “I am so excited to return close to home to race in front of my family and friends. I have not been able to race in front of most of them since 2004. I need to thank Mike Heffner for allowing me to bring the team to Oklahoma. The team is based out of Allentown, PA so Oklahoma is not exactly close! This would not have been possible without help from Danny’s Auto Salvage, Hop & Sack Convenience Stores and BPG special thanks to them for coming on board to sponsor our trip,” says Daryn. The reunion will also allow Daryn to team up with past crew chief Danny Foster. “Danny and I have been friends forever. He actually worked on my race car for about 10 years and we even went on the road together with the World of Outlaws in 2000. Danny has been away from the sport for a couple of years and it will be nice to work with him again at the track,” says Daryn. “I am so happy I have the opportunity to come home and race close by. I hope all of the Oklahoma fans will stop by the trailer and say hello. It will be nice to have all of my friends and family there to support me,” says Daryn. After the Salina Highbanks race on May 3rd the team will race the next two weekends will the World of Outlaws. Daryn will be returning to Eldora Speedway and wrapping up the mini tour at Williams Grove Speedway for the Morgan Cup and WOO shows. “The next few weeks are going to be exciting. I get to go home and then race Eldora with the Outlaws and then head back to defend our home turf when the Outlaws come in town,” says Daryn.
|
While we are quoting and high-lighting:
"The next few weeks are going to be exciting. I get to go home and then race Eldora with the Outlaws and then head back to defend our home turf when the Outlaws come in town,"says Daryn.
What "home turf" was he referring to? The Grove? Seems odd a non Posse guy would refer to Williams Grove as home turf. Logic, reason...never mind.

Not bad buzz, but there is no question that Pittman is just a hired gun from Oklahoma who's driving for a Posse car owner.
There also no question that some great racers come out of Pennsylvania, but as far as I'm concerned if they ain't grown there, their not the real deal, they ain't Posse. What if they had a Posse without any Pennsylvania drivers in it, would it still be the Penn Posse or just a Posse?
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

The Penn part of the Penn Posse is referring to where they race, or at least that's my understanding.

Pittman is a man of his word...if he agrees with some of you and he is really not Posse, he will withdraw from the Morgan Cup on Friday July 22 and have a beer whilie watching the race with Sammy.

Pittman, Henderson, Walker, Stevie...I'm glad they're all here vs. Taking a step backwards & running 360's like Stewart & Johnson. No matter what you think, if you weren't there Friday, you missed one hell of a race!

108 posts? Good Lord. This Posse vs Outlaw argument is simply a ticket selling gimmick that has worked out really well for both the Grove and the Outlaws. There will never be a conclusion to it, and that's probably a good thing.

But there is a conclusion. The World of Outlaws is now a bunch of over-regulated cookie cutter race cars EXACTLY like the ones that race in PA every week so they get beat.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

That kinda go's along with my thought that out of state drivers who run as Posse are just hired guns who choose not to go on the road for a variety of reasons, but could do well there; but they are not from Penn and so cannot be part of the "Pennsylvania Posse". I think this rivalry has changed through the years, and the term Posse has overshadowed the fact that more than a few are not from Pennsylvania, but it's a darn good place to race with some of the best..and it pay's well too. You guy's claim drivers that you shunned in the past just to fit your needs, and you'll spit them out when they don't. They will go home, they always do.
Duck Kenny duck!
Oh! This thread has been fun, and for the most part friendly banter without any name calling..KNOCK ON WOOD! LOL

I look at it through the eyes of someone who lost a lifetime of us again them, and it was good! With them being USAC. I look at it as if: What if some of the USAC boy's decided to stay in Cali or AZ and run against themselves, USAC. What if USAC didn't move into the neighborhood with their name like they did, but some of them (say Darland and Jon Stanbrough) decided to stay in Cali and run with CRA. Would they be one of "our boy's" then? Hell no!
Now if Jerry Coons Jr, Casey Shuman, and Damion Gardner decided to stay they'd be our boys because there from here!
In my opinion if your not from Pennsylvania, your not posse, your a vigilant after the reward.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

I've finally read through this entire, painful post.
Couple things:
Why don't PA drivers tow 4000 miles to CA for the dirt cup? My guess is that, by my logic, that's close to $5000 in gas round trip to tow. Why do that when you can race for more money in PA in the month of September. Take into account that the guy LEADING PA points right now (Leppo), does not have a full time crew(never has, all part timers with real jobs except for semi retired Steve Smith), hell, he's not even running the Grove full time this year.
That brings us to the PA Points Standings. Let me do a run down for you: 1)Leppo (PA born), 2.Rahmer (PA born), 3.Dewease(PA Born), 4.Hodnett (resided in PA over 10 years now), 5.21-Montieth (PA born), 6.87-Krimes (PA born), 7.48-Danny Dietrich (PA Born), 8.17b-Steve Buckwalter (PA born), 9.17-Tyler Walker (CA born -Found one!!!!!!), 10.27-Pittman (OK born - two in a row!!!!)........so to answer the question, the "home grown" drivers are in 1st through 8th currently in PA, not too embarrassing, I'd say. BTW, in PA, you have to finish top 10 or you don 't even get a point. Having the money to show up all the time and ride around in the back doesn't cut it. Both those cars listed in 9th and 10th have run as many races as the 8 ahead of them. Just the facts.
Finally, everyone wants to bitch about this rivalry, but the WoO created it. Look at their website vs the Grove website and let me know whose doing more "bragging" about winning/taking home the cup.
Next is the rules that the Posse is using to their advantage. Uhhhh, the WoO writes ALL the rules for 410 sprints (Williams Grove, Port, Lincoln didn't go to Goodyear until the WoO gave them no choise), PA follows along so they can be "competitive" when the big money the WoO brings to the show is on the line. Seems to be working out.
That's all, four paragraphs chock full of fact. I love that the WoO drivers come to town and enjoy watching them for sure, even buy a WoO shirt from time to time. I've already admitted that certain people on the PA side paint their own picture, now I'm showing you that the rest of the country does the same. In PA it's driven by passion, other places, maybe a little jealous? I could be wrong....

Van May, Steve Smith and Bobby Allen never went home. They stayed in Pa after they finished their racing careers. Try again Fish.

Rivalry is good for the sport and always has been; and I'm mad as hell that USAC came to stay and we lost ours.
Good deal, 8 out of 10 from PA, but more than a few will claim 9 and 10 as Posse when they win.

I'll pay you next time I see you LatshPA, woosprint.com posted Pittman as a Posse win. Actually they listed Walker as Posse too.
I guess they've figured out that Posse means PA regular.
And I hear Leppo is planning on running the Grove now

I thought he might. This was going to be Swope's last year. That's in jeopardy now too. Winning fixes a lot of things.
