Just to let everyone know John Lee was hurt last night in an incident at CMS during hot laps at the USMTS Show. I talked with John this morning and he is at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence Mo. He is feeling okay considering what he went through.

Like so many people who do photos, videos, etc. at races, John told me he had stood at this position many times without any incidents. He saw the car coming and tried to jump out of the way either into or over a tractor tire and his foot got pinned between either the tire or the car and the retaining barrier.
John has always been a big open wheel sprint car fan and covered national races at Knoxville, Oskaloosa, and is a regular at the Chili Bowl. John has had several pictures in national magazines, he also has done posters and pictures for many of the biggest open wheel teams.

The photos that John takes are his soul income so this will hit his family pretty hard. Please keep John and his family in your thoughts and maybe in your pocketbook also. Buying a picture from John might contribute to his recovery even if you don't want or need one.

I know many nurses there at Centerpoint as its only 2 miles from me. Ill ask around about whats the best way to send cards etc.

Heres what I've found on the web so far... not sure how long he'd be there.. have only read on here about it.

Patient Mail

Cards, letters and flowers will arrive faster if they are addressed as follows:

Patient's Name
Room Number
Centerpoint Medical Center
19600 E. 39 St.
Independence, MO 64057

John is one of the best in the Midwest for photos. He always does a great job from the Chili Bowl and is also one of the nicest guys in the biz. If anyone gets the chance, please pass along our best from down here. Hopefully, it's a short recovery and we hae him back at a track in the near future.

Get Well John!

I just talked to Susan Walls, CMS Will Do a Pass The Helmet for John and Family this Saturday, April 23rd during the season opener, if weather does not permit, we will do it when we resume racing.

John has also given permission to post his address to send cards and letters:

Thank you,

Cards and flowers are great, but lets everyone send him 5 or even 10 bucks or more. I am all about more.
