Purse has been the same for first 3 races as it was last year. It will continue to be $2500 to win and $300 to start.
I mis-read the Insurance statement, so I am WRONG. Not sure about practices?
|
So if the USAC Coordinator cannot get the correct purse information to the teams and doesn't understand the sanctioning body's insurance policy, do you have a contact for someone we can call who can answer our questions correctly? _____________________________________________________________________________________
So it is possible for Chris Kerns to be wrong!!!!!! Well maybe you didn't know the whole story with "VRP" and Kevin Miller when you made us look like such a bad guy!!!!!!
Another thing! If you call the complete list of West Coast Promoters such good friends, why in the world would you sell them a "Late Model" Show, and take money from their family's mouth by keeping the ENTRY FEE/Back Gate Money.....Just asking, cause I try to help my friends, not take from them!!!!
Remember, you came onto my thread to try to disrespect me and discredit me! I have never posted on yours.
|
I am not sure I understand your question, but I will try and answer it.
West Coast Late Model show! I supply:
Officials (1-3)
Advertising. (email flyer, banner ad on LMR, press releases, etc)
$250 Trophy dash money
Trophies for Trophy dash, Main event (Billet Aluminum this year) and trophy for driver to give to kid in stands
Large winners check (I paid for the one at your track with my own money. Your welcome)
Point fund.
No charge to Promoter at all. No Sanction fee.
Does that help?
I have already built a pretty decent reputaion in DIRT TRACK promoting. Although we are doing a good job of keeping your $1000 to win, $100 to start race thread on the top, I doubt you are accomplishing much right now. I am sorry Steve, but I dont have much respect for dishonest people. Get off the Kevin Miller deal. You know what the deal was, because you and I talked SEVERAL times before the show. If you knew you had a deal in place for all shows at the same price, you would not have sent us an email at 9am the next morning. And if you didnt make money at the show, you wouldnt be so upset that I wouldnt give you more races for 9k.
PS. Yes its possible for Chris Kearns to be wrong. Didnt you read where I wrote I was WRONG. Tell me what is your exact insurance coverage. Right now off the top of your head.

Cowboy...I am actually embarrassed to say, but the structure was in place before I took the Track over..$1,000 to win and $100 to start....I did want to see the crowd turn-out so I could bonus the guys money if I could....Just being honest with you my friend!
|
This is something that I think should be done at all track to help the teams out in this bad economy. I honest do God dont know the financial situation of any track but ALL of the tracks need to help the car owner get to the track to draw the fans. For every car that enters the event I feel that at least two crew members should be allowed in for no more then the admission price to watch the event because they are helping put on the show!
Here is a situation to think about. I make a good wage at my job but if I were to work on a pit crew and paid my way this is what it would cost me! I am using me as an example although I dont work on the cars that often at local shows. Just an example here:
$50 Pit Pass
200 Mile Round Trip @11mpg =Approx. $75 in fuel (an extreme case I know) but the corporate travel rate is 46cents/mile now so that is $92.
Food for the day $20
So for helping to put a car on the track A crew member is out $145! After taxes, I have worked more then 7 hours at my job just to help put on the show. I know that I have a job that pays well plus I own a business on the side and it hurts my wallet to help to a team put a car on the track when I go. So I am guessing I would have to run pretty damn fast to place about 3rd or 4th just to cover my costs in the pits.
It would go a long way, "I THINK" at these smaller shows to give each sprint car entered two pit passes at GA prices. Try it once or twice and see if it helps out the car counts etc.

Steve, I have thought this through, and now I feel kind of dumb. I am very confident with my honesty, integrity, ethics and Current success in Promoting. I am accomplishing nothing by argueing on here with you and can spend my time in a much more productive way. I know the truth about the entire situation and I know the racers, promoters, and fans trust me. That is good enought for me.
I am very passionate about Racing & Promoting and I work very hard for everyone I am involved with. Sometimes I might get to passionate when I believe in something!
I apologize to anyone that thinks I have stooped to low. Trust me though, I will still be on here plenty. lol. Just cant help myself. Message boards are great for promotion and a conflict doesnt hurt every now and then.
Steve, although I am not going to be wishing you luck, because I dont agree with your methods, I also wish you no ill. I am sure you are as accomplished as you say you are, which makes patting yourself on the back and name dropping unnessesary. I am sorry I pushed you to that position.
Thank you, Chris kearns
PS. This Saturday night is opening night at Santa Maria Speedway, with USAC West Coast Sprint Cars, USAC 1/4 Midgets, USAC Focus Midgets and Toste Construction Mini Stocks.

Promoter,
You don't need U**C. You build a good environment for the owners, drivers, and most of all the fans and all will be happy to run VRP. Its a great track and puts on a great show. A few years ago car counts were good and the racing was great.
It would be great to see the 410's go back and forth between Perris and VRP ( and possibly Ventura ). Have set dates that don't conflict and start to build up the fan base. The Promoters have so many obstacles to overcome being in So Cal. Its going to take time and cooperation between the promoters, owners, and drivers to get Sprint Car racing back.
Its threads like this and another that make me wish SCRA was still around.

I'm kind of sad that the USAC show that was run at Victorville has come to this.
I for one am truly thankful to have someone with the energy and short track background of Chris Kearns working to promote dirt track racing in central and southern California. As an owner of a dwarf car, I wish I had more opportunities to race our car at Santa Maria Speedway- we feel welcome every time we tow our car there.
I am also very thankful to have someone with the promoting experience and success of Steve Quercio now in charge of Victorville Raceway Park. We've only raced at Victorville once in the past, but if our schedule allows us to, I'm hoping to tow our car there as often as we can.
My point here is that both Chris and Steve are integral to the success of sprint car racing and dirt track racing in general in So Cal. I know you both got off on the wrong foot, but I'm truly hoping that you both can take a step or two back, realize that you are both trying to do the very best for us racers and most of all, the fans, and at the same time, maybe even make a couple bucks for your race tracks.
We as racers and fans are alot better off having you guys working together. Neither of you are really benefitting from this disagreement.
Thanks for all that you guys are doing for us!!

Perhaps your group should approach 'the Promoter' to run Victorville....you guys go well there and the crowd loves your class when they ran in the past

Chris...My Response in RED Steve, I have thought this through, and now I feel kind of dumb. I am very confident with my honesty, integrity, ethics and Current success in Promoting. I am accomplishing nothing by argueing on here with you and can spend my time in a much more productive way. I know the truth about the entire situation and I know the racers, promoters, and fans trust me. That is good enough for me. Chris, I totally Agree with you! But you have to remember, all I did was make a simple post that I was doing a Open 410 Show this weekend, and you were the one that jumped in to disrespect me, and try to discredit me with comments about all the Short Track Promoters are your friends, and all the things I am doing wrong, and how we will be the outcast at the Promoters work shop etc. (Just back track and follow this thread, and look where it jumps off topic) (Me sticking up for my Track with one of your friends) (In which I did call Scott, and all is good) I know you are friends with these guys, and honestly I know who most are anyhow. I have tremendous respect for Jim Naylor, Don K, and the guys up North. I go into those Markets, they do a great job.......At the end of the day, even if you tried to use your relationships with other Tracks against me, my main concern is my TRACK, creating Good Racing, and making sure our Fans, and Racers leave "VRP" Happy!!!!!!!!!
I am very passionate about Racing & Promoting and I work very hard for everyone I am involved with. Sometimes I might get to passionate when I believe in something! That's great, and I think you have seen I am very passionate in what I do, I am not going to roll over, or be intimidated! I believe in my Track, and what I am doing, and nothing is going stop us from trying to archive our goal of putting "VRP" on the map as a great Fun Race Track for the Racers, and great entertainment for the Race Fans in our Market.
I apologize to anyone that thinks I have stooped to low. Trust me though, I will still be on here plenty. lol. Just cant help myself. Message boards are great for promotion and a conflict doesn't hurt every now and then. I think lance has a great board here! I follow it as I want to see how I can make things better, not bicker with people.
Steve, although I am not going to be wishing you luck, because I dont agree with your methods, I also wish you no ill. I am sure you are as accomplished as you say you are, which makes patting yourself on the back and name dropping unnessesary. I am sorry I pushed you to that position. Chris, this is where we might be different!!!! I do wish you Luck with your Track, and I wish all Track owners Good Luck, God knows we need it! As a Italian, it is Family tradition, to yell and scream, and fight for what we believe in, but we also forgive and forget!!!!!! As far as Force and "Motley Crue", I am very proud of what we achieved!!!!
So in closing this chapter of the "Hatfields" and the "McCoys", and moving forward with us both operating our own Tracks in a Professional manner......I want you to know I am a man of my word! You wanted my Jet for a Date in June, and I said you could have it.....When I give someone my Word, that's better than any Contract......That offer still stands, and it is your call if you want it!!!!
Good luck with your Grand Opening this week!
Steve Quercio

Did Victorville speedway buy all the walls and fences from the Baylands raceway park years ago?
If so did you also remove the clay?
Seems like the walls look the same, and i have always thought it was weird how all the clay is also gone from the baylands site.
thanks,

Promoter: the best thing you can do for your promotional life is to stay off any message board completely.
You participate in a message board. People complain.

the front straight a way fence was built by Rick Rogers [never got paid]...the 'k' rail was donated by a construction co..the rest is poles and plywood put up by previous track operaters...clay has to be replenished on a regular basis and I think they get it from about 40 mi. away...nothing to do with baylands

This kinda reminds me of the scene in Days of thunder where Cole Trickle & Rowdy Burns have the sit down with the Nascar head cheese. Then he tells them that they have to go to dinner and drive together. And we all know what happened there

At this point, I wouldn't mind if these two guys ended up as a greasy spot on some country road somewhere either.

I agree Jeff. I got a little carried away. Just started out by defending a friend on this Thread. Not sure what makes me take all of this so serious. I am just an employee of USAC. By the way I have acted on here, you would think I own the damn thing! Still not sure why I cant listen to Naylor and stay off of here. There is a reason he has made it 33 years Promoting a Dirt Track.
Nose 2 tail. Is that the Big Red Trailer? Uh oh.
Jammy, do I owe you a $100 for this post? I thought it was nice.
Steve, on the bright side, your thread is still at the top!
