I will be leaving this hole I call South Dakota in March for the WoO shows in Hanford and Tulare. I am mega pumped to see the Thunderbowl! Anyways, I was wondering if there was anyone in the area that could tell me the best way to get from Hanford to Tulare. Im only 24 and I can't rent a car quite yet, so I have to use other forms of transportation. All I have come up with is to get up in a drunken stumble at 8am that Saturday to get on the Amtrak, go back to Fresno, and then take the greyhound from Fresno to Tulare. It's not that big of a deal, just consumes most of my day traveling, and was hoping to avoid that. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

from Hanford:
E198 to S99 then about 15 mins to S86 to the Bardsley Exit. Then E. Bardsley to S O Street, bust a right which should be the fairgrounds exit or thereabouts somewhere in the vicinity nearby.

Good luck - but you should be able to find someone who's willing to give you a ride - it's only about thirty miles, and there are a lot of motels in both Hanford and Tulare... It'll just require some planning/coordination in order to make it all work out for you...

Damn, I kind of failed on that. I thought you were asking directions.
In that case, wear a hat and tape a piece of cardboard to it saying "need a ride to the Thunderbowl" and stand at the exit on the way out. If 1000+ people pass a race fan by, they suck.

If you wanted to, you could take a bus from Hanford to Visalia and then connect from there to Tulare. Much less roundabout, and will probably shave a lot of time off of your commute. But I think you can rent a car if you are under 25, although you'll have to pay an extra fee (although maybe not if you rent through Dollar). In fact, I know that I rented cars when I was in college and early in my career with an additional fee.

My advise is to hitch a ride to Tulare after the races in Hanford with someone from Tulare and stay in Tulare. Have the announcer tell the crowd that you need a ride. Heck you might find some country chick to snuggle up next to.

To this day I will only rent from Enterprise because when we went on our first midwest trip back in '93 they were the only ones who would rent to me and I was 22 at the time. I'm willing to bet, however, before the sun comes up tomorrow you will have an e-mail from someone willing to get you from one to the other and probably back to Fresno even.

Dude, you can rent a super small car for about $30 a day from the airport. Would be around $100 for the three days. The tracks are very close to each other. I have never been to Kings but Tulare is bad ass. The most exciting track west of Knoxville.

I'd go for the gold...buy a pit pass at Hanford...let it be know I came all the way from the blistering cold to experience the greatest racing on earth and offer the clean anycar for a ride to Tulare..almost every racer there will be headed the direction so odds are you'll get your ride plus the oppertunity to see how racing is really done...you only go round once in life..tear off a memory that will carry you through the mundain

i agree. i bet if you talked to some teams and were friendly and told them what your deal was you could find a ride down the road. might cost you a case of beer. lol.
i can't speak for him but there just might be a chance if you talked to bonzai down at TK's car, he might take pity on a fellow Dakota boy. .
some one said you might get lucky and find a chick. remember, it is california, you might want to check that chick twice. lmfao!!!
to indy and beyond!!

Our group of loyal fans/boozers will be camping out at both Hanford and Tulare. I'm certain that if a twelver or two of anything but Coors/Coors Light was to be offered up, you could pile into our rig for the 30 mile trek to Tulare. Look for the Mussell brothers campsite, you cant miss it... we will be up till the suns up suckin down the refreshments and bbqing. There will be a white chevy pickup with a white camper shell and racing stickers on the cab.

That information is generally classified but it's looking like WoO Calistoga.

Right on I'm hoping to make that one if everything comes together on my end. Hope to see you there.
