Change To Management At Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Posted Tuesday, 13 April 2010 by TPCR MEDIA
Sydney Speedway Pty Ltd, operators of Sydney’s Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway, has announced the appointment of David Tapp as its new General Manager.
The Directors issued the following statement on behalf of Sydney Speedway Pty Ltd.
“Our company purchased the venue in November of 2009 and we have now had the opportunity to asses what is required to take the venue forward in Australia’s biggest city and we believe that David Tapp has the credentials to assist us in achieving these goals.
“David is the former CEO of the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL Club; hence he is vastly experienced in all aspects of sports administration, sponsorship, marketing, promotion and media liaison.
“In the sport of Australian speedway David has also amassed numerous runs on the board including; promoting numerous international and national title events, operating his own venue, publishing the sport’s top selling magazine (Speedway Racing News) and producing hundreds of speedway television shows for Fox Sports, ONE HD, the Nine Network and Network Ten.
TPCR directors say they look forward to a bright future at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in what promises to be an exciting and innovative new era.
Meanwhile, David Tapp says he is thrilled to be taking up the position as the Raceway’s General Manager.
“Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway is one of the sport’s leading venues and I’m genuinely excited by the challenge involved. I’m looking forward to working with Garry Rush, Brett Morris, Rod Bowen and Dennis Loudoun (Directors of Sydney Speedway) as all four men are very passionate about the sport of speedway and their significant investment in the industry on a number of fronts reflects this”.
Mr. Tapp will take up his position at the venue on April 27. The Raceway’s current General Manager, Ashley Van Der Stelt, will continue his employment at the Raceway as Commercial Manager and he is looking forward to working with David.
“This a very exciting time for myself and the other staff at TPCR. David has a proven track record and to have the opportunity to work with someone with such vast experience, especially in the area of sales and marketing, is fantastic. I’m most confident we will all enjoy working as a team under David’s leadership.” Ashley commented.
In addition to overseeing all aspects of Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Mr. Tapp will continue to facilitate his role as Managing Director of Power Productions (one of Australia’s largest independent producers of sports television programs and publisher of Speedway Racing News Magazine).
Sydney Speedway would like to acknowledge the hard work done by Ashley Van Der Stelt over the past few months.
“Ashley has done a most commendable job under trying circumstances and we look forward to his ongoing contribution,” was the statement of the four directors.
Ends……..

Now some of my own comments
Should have happened when Steve Green left ,Tapp has Media Connections second to none ,Has his own Production Company which produces shows for Australia Largest Cable Network ,
Minuses. Has been a Verment critic of Parramatta ,Declares another track the best in the country .Can be pig headed
Maybe this will be the making of David Tapp And the resurgence of Parramatta
Only time will tell
Let the games begin on the Australian Speedway internet cause Mr Tapp aint well loved
And keep your eyes on australianspeedway.com cause the forward attack forces have started already
