A driver from the Enid area asked me if I would do this poll to see what kind of response it would get. Would you be interested in racing a crate late model in weekly competition at Enid Speedway Park in 2010? There have been rumblings but nothing solid. It was also mentioned it could replace the modifieds.
Please vote above it you are interested. Remember, this is just a scientific poll - nothing more.

This just seems like an ignorant idea to me.Why would they go to a class that no other track around here runs. And as far as the engine who would want an engine that isnt meant to turn over 5500 rpms. And as far as the car with the expense of the tires, wheels, shocks, etc. would be more expensive that any other class. If they want a class that has to run a $3500 engine why not put it in a car that already runs at their track. Just my two cents though.

I agree with Greg thats the dumbest idea i've heard all year out of Enid.take classes that have 5-10 cars a week and turn it in to one class that has 3-5 cars a week.

Reguardless of what goes on with the class changes or whatever something has to be done with the classes. They are getting carried away in every division. Gary i guess you obviously havent been to enid this year if you think we had ten cars in street or mod. Car count was down in both of those classes all year.

Alot of the Enid teams jumped on the Limited class and that show that people are wanting to lower there expenses. Street Stock and Modified are 2 classes that have just gottin more and more expensive. Motors are a big reason why too, keep the Street Stock the same with a spec motor and Modified go to IMCA rules. I believe the Street Stock motors are legal for that class {no Rollers} and its workin in Ardmore. Or things can just keep gettin more and more expensive during this economy. But there will always be a few that have alot of disposable income and pay for the best money can buy and they will bring the rest along with them.
At least there lookin at a way to build their class and lower their cost as well as make an even playing field and I aplaud them for thinking ahead and getting some public consenses.
I dont want them to do away with the Modified class but that class needs to make some changes to grow up there too.

Making people sell their cars in times that its that its tough to sell a car, just to go spend $10k to $15k or how ever much crate late models cost. I dont think that will bring the car count up. In my opinion they need to quit changing the rules every year and also enforce them. No I havent raced in 2 years until last week and a few weeks before. The last few months Ive spent quite a bit of money just to get my car caught up to whats being run now from 2 years ago. Another thing, there is no cheap entry class to get new people into racing, like cruisers, mini stocks, and pure stocks when they were bone stock. Pure stock is not pure stock any more, just a few years ago that was a factory stock. Even the limited modified got way out of hand from a few years ago. What happend to stock short blocks, stock heads, cast iron intakes? Sorry to get off topic, just had to voice my opinion.

Here is a idea I have been throwing out there for 20 years. Make the rules the same at every track in every class. What do you think of that?? I have a factory stock and if you do some reserch you cant find any 2 tracks in Oklahoma with the same rules. I have a freind in Minneapolis Kansas. I went up there once last year. They have I.M.C.A. rules in every class. Those rules are EXACTLY the same at about 100 tracks in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Etc. By the way, it was a regular Saturday night and there were 140 cars in the pits. There were 4 classes.
Thanks

a few idea's split the sport mod class into a rookie sport mod and sport mod(or b-mod) if you win 2 features in rookies you have to move up since its the dominate class i think they deserve the most pay and attention. i also think it would be cool to have a sport late just hang latemodel body's on the sport mods and run 10" 500's
'rid' the street stocks, move factory's to street, pure's to factory, and like street stock 81 said make a PURE stock class

If there getting 140 cars then they must be doing something right. And I think the pure stock class should be a beginner class not one for a modified driver to jump into. Jmo

This post isnt about pure stocks nor emods its about a crate late model class and if they r gonna drop street and or mod. Tyler before you should be able to throw your 2 cents in you might wanna support your local track more often. I ran out there in street stock for 10 years and ive watched people come and go. They need to just make a few changes that will be for the good of the whole track/fans/expenses.

Dustin if you noticed in my post I said I had spent quite a bit of money gettin my car back up to whats being run now, rules had changed and I couldnt afford it any more. Sorry I dont have the money like the few thats still out there. I would support it if i could afford it, Im not goin anywhere else. I raced the last race, would have raced the last 2 point nights if they still had them and plan on running the winter nationals and all next season, unless the rules get changed drastically.

I think the point being made is it may be weiser to start a economy class than a latemodel class,I think there are more guys out there that want to race that dont have the money(me) than there is guys with enough money to get a nice latemodel and crate motor.jmo

I got both of your opinions and i agree 100%. Not everyone that races are bill gates and i def know im not. They are gonna do alot of changing next year to back all of the classes up from what ive heard from them.

its really simple here....
All the classes have been allowed to get out of control, as far as rules go....
When has anyone ever heard of purestocks running racing headers and there are examples of this in every class.
I say get back to some good enforcible rules, a real entry level class, pull the other classes back to reasonable motor rules. There are ways that this can be fixed but I dont believe the crate latemodel is the answer. Im in favor of IMCA sanctions in every class, I believe there is alot more good than bad with IMCA and it does allow you to run at alot of different places under the same set of rules.

Well jaydad when you let some people interpret the gray area of the rules this is what happens, like SFS factory stock it's gone.... The Pro Stock is being close to being gone as well . And it happens at lot of tracks every where. I guess IMCA,NCRA ect. kinda know what they are doing you think, It's called RULES to where you can run just about anywhere YOU want to go race at in any direction. And compete with the local drivers at all sanctioned tracks..

It would be a pretty cool class to be in but not in Oklahoma. Theres not many of them around this area of the U.S.
