Sad.... I guess you don't believe that people make mistakes, but can pay their penalties, and get a second chance....It must be hard to stand on that high and mighty pedestal that you're on...but I guess that you've NEVER made a mistake, or a bad decision, right?

Tyler clearly acknowledges his issues with drugs, and their affect on his career in the article, which, if you read it, might teach you something....but only if you have an open mind.......And he's not the only NASCAR driver who's dropped out or failed to succeed. There are literally hundreds of drivers who never made the most of their NASCAR chances, including Josh Wise, Dave Steele, to name a few....

Right on the money sprinter25. Well stated. Everyone deserves a second chance and should value the opportunity, while others continue on the same destructive path. I am sure the Allard brothers do not share this man's opinion of Walker. As you know, Shane Hmiel (sp) is another driver that was a victim of drugs and it cost him a career in Nascrap. He now runs sprint cars with USAC and is highly regarded by fellow drivers and race fans in Indiana. He also admits to his past life of drug addiction. Congratulations to Tyler Walker and to anyone else who has recovered from this terrible life-style.

When is this holier then thou crap ever going to change?

Anybody bailing on NASCAR, whether through their own mistakes or by choice is okay with me. This guy is always gushing about how cool it is to drive a sprint car and places that thrill above all other forms of racing. To me that's refreshing! I feel the same way from the stands. No other type of racing matches the intensity of sprint car racing on dirt!

We need more Tyler Walkers running 410's out here in Norcal. Last year was awesome while we had TK and Walker running weekly. If we're lucky enough to keep Kyle Larson out here for a while, we'll have another!

Forgot. Congratulations to the King of California Tyler Walker and the race team for their front page photo and article in this great magazine. Wish they would take the wing off now that the season is over - after all T.W. lives in L.A.

You must have been sitting in T4 at the Goldcup. I've heard lots of new TW fans were made...

I was talking to Jonathan Allard about this subject and posts and JA wanted to make clear how much he thinks Tyler Walker is an asset to our sport and the fact that both the 0 and 24 teams are in a tight relationship.

Jonathan says that Tyler is great to race with and even better with the fans and respects the way he treats his fellow competitors and the people who have given him the chance to be in the position he is now.

He also said that if everyone was like him(JA) then racing would be boring because it takes all kinds of personalities and if there's one word to describe Tyler, it is Passion. Jonathan definitley thinks that racing is better with him here and we are all proud to have someone on any cover represent the West Coast.

------------

I know that from my perspective watching both Tyler and Jonathan every week this year has been a pleasure and it's been fun stuff. I think when it comes to sprint car teams and drivers that race in the west on a regular basis it would be hard to find two better combinations up and down the left coast than Tyler Walker/SC Motorsports & Jonathan Allard/Williams Motorsports.

All of us from SC Motorsports would like to thank all of you for the supportive comments. While I obviously disagree with the above post about Tyler, he is entitled to his opinion.

Tyler and myself have discussed this as well, and we have come to the conclusion that some people are just never going to let go of the past - that's their prerogative.

GT, it's a two-way street my friend. We have a ton of respect for Jonathan Allard/Williams Motorsports, and we also carry the utmost respect for all of our competitors.

Tyler will be in Roseville this weekend, shaking down an asphalt Sprint Car for Turkey Night. Be sure to stop by and see him if you're there.

Lets lay this to rest and go racin'!

Respectfully,

Gary

I can't say enough how lucky we are to have that kind of talent running out here with the GSC. Tyler's presence helps pack the stands. I know that when I'm looking for a race to attend I look to see where he's running. He's a big asset for our up and coming young guns in developing their skills on the race track. That final GSC challenge race was one to remember with the battle between Allard and Walker for the win.

This weekend I will be forgoing the CW show in P-Ville to watch Tyler and young Kyle Larson (I believe in his asphalt sprinter debut) represent the GSC against the USAC gang at Roseville's All American Speedway. This is blasphemy for me. I am no fan of asphalt and in particular that track with it's single file racing but my curiosity has the best of me.

just to make this clear, i read the article, and after thinking about everything you all said, you are right, and i apoligize to t-dub and anyone i offended. i have gotten more than 1 second chance in my own addictions and wasnt thinking of this when i posted. thank you all for pointing out that i was being very judgemental and ignorant. again, sorry to sc motorsports, and i cant wait to see him at the track soon because he is a badass driver. i should have thought before i spoke.

Well, if what you've now posted is true, and I believe that it is, good for you....

It takes a big man to admit a mistake, and to apologize for that mistake....

Let's move on, as GC suggested....

I was a bit skeptical when TW was hired to drive the #24, but since he's been with that team, I've had nothing but positive interactions with Tyler. He's always taken time to acknowledge my young son (he's 6) and engages him by asking him if he had a good time, wants an autograph, etc. TW acts this way towards all the kids - that's why they like him! Last year, after a local 360 show at Placerville, I had the chance to tell Tyler that it took a lot of courage to admit his mistakes (from an ESPN Magazine article from a few months prior) and he said he wasn't going to hide from what he did and that he hoped others who could learn from his mistakes and not fall into the same traps he did. No one can deny TW has tremendous talent and is with a good team. Here's hoping he keeps on keeping on and keeps winning races and continues to do things the right way.

This year GSC was very much in need of T-dub providing some star-power(competition). From the moment he hit each track for hot laps, Tyler put on a show! For that I or should I say WE thank him!!!

Thank you Gary Thomas for posting how Jonathan feels about Tyler, bringing a lot of others to their senses. It forced a lot of others to rethink their initial comments and retrack them. Jonathan and Tyler are both class acts, GSC is definitely very fortunate to have them and a host of others. They are all passionate (Jonathan you are one of the most passionate , like Tyler). Everything the last few posts have stated is sure. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and it takes a bigger man or woman to own up to them, face them head on and learn from them. No one should ridicule!

GSC is very lucky to have so many talented drivers in addition to JA and T-dub. Each adds their own flare, BK, Statler, new comers like Larson and Carey just to name a few! Every week racing with these guys is a challenge and a lot of fun and we have the upmost respect for each and every one of them. When you line up with those guys you are being schooled by the best.
