Whats up? Is Steve Smith the last champion? Is Brill Motor speedway going to pick up this class? Is everybody going to go race Street Stocks? Or is Lanny going to run them next year? It seems that Enid, Elk City, and Ada all run Street stocks Could there be a series developed for this class instead of racing 10 to 12 cars at one track? What happened to make this class turn south over the past few years, was it the aluminum heads or lack of consistant rules from track to track? From what I understand with minor modifications these cars are legal at brill in the Factory Stock class. Anybody care to comment?

My thoughts might lean towards a Street Stock Series with about 10 to 12 races next year at the tracks that already run them.

Opening up the engine rule would be a start , allowing those cars from other tracks to come and race . If they went to some form of a street stock deal i think it would be a lot better for the racers and the fans , heck look at the street stock national deal in Enid every year . Lots of cars show up for that deal I'm sure there are plenty of cars within an hour or two of OKC just not allowed to run here !!

MORE CARS = BETTER RACES it just makes sense

Well JD Johnny Reed showed up last night with his Brill car for the pro stocks.

If we had season long regulars Jared Hicks, Mark Brill, and Eric Brill sunday night - we would have had 16 pro stocks. respectable field.

And thats a hell of a lot more respectable field than every single other street stock class in the area.

It's ironic - even with what they get they are more healthy class than Enid or Ada street stocks - not sure about elk city, and maybe even BMS.

With the sprints being the premier classes at SFS - attention needs to be paid to how to stop the tide of their spiral - we had 35 sprints sunday night - and about 5 of them were guys not usually there. It wasn't that long ago we were getting well over 50 and upwards of 60. if it takes raising tickets to 12 to raise that damn purse - it may as well be done. 10 bucks is a steal at SFS - go watch other sat. shows round here for 10 bucks - and SFS is a HUGE steal at 10.

sorry i know this thread isn't about that - but I think the BOTTOM end of the purses have to be raised. not just for sprints - but all 5 classes. there is no reason his purses shouldn't be a lot better than other tracks. He doesn't need to promote SFS as his main source of income - he makes enough dough at the Chili Bowl his entire family could live fat. By all rights - his tracks should be a cut above the rest - and a cut above what they are. But this isn't a perfect world - and no matter what points I make - even the richest promoter would never be a philanthropist.

Our class in Enid for the past i dont know how many years has been a great class. I like Jorsky 73s idea. If Lanny makes it where a guy has to buy $140 a piece goodyears and aluminum head to run at his track hes just trying to keep out of towners away. Ada Elk and you can run steel heads and scuffs against the okc rules. This year has been bad on car count about everywhere. If i was Lanny i wouldnt brag about having 20 cars in any class. OKC or the metro area has a population of around prob 1 million people and so us getting our car count isnt any different. Ive raced street stock in enid for 10 years now and what i think should be down is a point series within the 4 or 5 tracks that still run pros or streets and get the rules back to even playing grounds. Get rid of those stupid goodyear training wheel tires. Learn to get your car to hookup on a hard asphalt tire and it makes it more affordable for everyone. Just my 2 cents.

Common rules on an equal playing ground hell yes, if we would take a vote it would win by a land slide and I would agree to it as well as everybody else........ But one vote would veto it at SFS and that would be Pres. Lanny it's called LANNY'S WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!Frown

Lanny does things that Lanny wants. I personally dont wanna go race there after my experiences of just going there with others that have raced there this year. I think id rather sit at home. If you wanna get out of town cars you gotta let people run at your track with scuffs and steel heads. Those aluminum heads should be the first thing to go.

dont mean to be picky on the OKCfan12 but he says if they were there sunday would have been.. but those cars were not you got 13 cars racing on championship weekend,Shawn hit it on the head, go to a street stock deal.. most all tracks are OKC pro stocks with take off tires and a few different motor rules so go to a street stock deal, i mean whats it gonna hurt.. Go from a $125 to a $25 tire. hell i seen Mark Mullins in a camaro at ada run door to door with Steve Smith in his OKC pro stock on take off tires n put on a hell of a show maybe just going to a take off tire brings more cars in.

Also raising the gate price will kill the attendance I went to 1 weekly show this year and said well this is a shame it used to be alot better....

Know im not a track promotor nor do I own or know much about sprint cars but... I really dont think a extra hundred bucks will bring in 40 sprint cars when most all tracks run under ASCS type rules and SFS is the only one with different rules, Dunno how much an injected motor costs but I know its WAY more than a extra hundred.

I was going to save this for my front page tidbits update but am told with all the griping about the pro stocks here on "tidbits" that the pro stocks will be cut down to one or two races at SFS a month. Some say they see it as slowly fazing them out.

If you guys would support a traveling division (yes, roll your eyes as I am going to say the "NCRA" word) to try to race at different tracks, let me know if you would support it, who would support it and the rules that you would go by.

naw thats not being picky. You're right - no matter the shoulda's or coulda's.....

they still just had 13.

Dustin Allen has a good point too, Half the time we even get 20 - it's made by at least 4 or 5 cars that are regular at OTHER saturday night tracks.

as far as the ascs rules...if the support is there to where the car count won't drop that much at the beginning...then I am all for it.

Far more pertinent I think - champ sprints should go to OCRS rules. But either/or - change rules in either class and you stand to pick up tulsa cars. maybe just every now and again - maybe consistently. who knows.

i think it's an easier switch to ocrs rules for the champs - than ascs rules for the supers.

What are the exact differences between OCRS and SFS champs? I know of the carbs and tires. and really i don't think SFS would need to go to the american racer....and that could satisfy lanny's constant desire to be "different". LOL.

Some people could get hit in the head and still never get it. If okc drops pro stocks they will lose a bunch of drivers and fans more important. Nothing against open wheel but there are alot of people that come to watch pro stocks because they are very similar to late models. Wouldnt suprise me if he did drop them though. Hell everyone around takes an awesome class and screws it up by having stupid rules like $140 tires and aluminum heads. Get the rules back where a guy can come run scuffs and steel heads and your car count will def improve.

All the griping here on tidbits is what SFS is saying is going to cut the class down? They sure pick the items they want and ignore the ones that make since. Thats B S on SFS part, they're just using Tidbits as an ecuse for what they wanted anyway. If NCRA would get involved in this type of class it would have to be a street stock class cause the Pro stock teams wont go. As a matter of fact there has not been ONE Pro Stock Driver Post yet and it's a thread on their class. I know at least 5 or 6 that get on here regularly and have already seen this thread but wont comment.

Look at what happened to the factory stocks 2 years ago there would be 30 or so show up, they kept letting a few keep stretching and interpreting the gray areas of the rules and it got out of hand. Now guess what they are gone go figure. And that is what IMO is where we are with the Pro Stocks. Get a set of rules that everybody can afford to compete with. There are 13 regulars out of the13 you got maybe 5 that can compete thats like watching a damn lock down heat race. Don't get me wrong I love watching Pro Stocks, Street Stocks, Limited Late Models or what ever you want to call them. But the way it is now we will wake up one season and they will be gone.

It was third had information from a driver - er two, that it was because of what posted here as far as the rules are concerned. I got my butt chewing on behalf of everybodys post but like I told one, comes with the territory when you run a high profile message board. However there are few who say this site that popular.

Doubt NCRA will try anything with street stocks or factory stocks this year. I, personally, want to get these modified and sport modified drivers dates and the recognition they deserve, even more so for 2010 and years to come. Those who have supported this series in both divisions all say they love it and is the best thing that has happened. Stay tuned.

Its not just the griping on Tidbits, but all the griping that goes on at the track and in the office.I've been fortunate to have been involved in the pro-stock class since day one back in it's glory days when we had more than 30 cars show up regularly. I can tell you the same guys that do all the bitching and moaning now are the same guys that did it then. I can't tell you how many guys have told me they have left this class to go race modifieds or something else because of all the BS you have to put up with in this class if your competitive. Nobody cares if your not winning. A perfect example is not only did I have to put up with more crap ON and off the track than anyone should have to in order to win a Championship, but I will have to endure an hour long finger pointing and name calling attack at the ORA meeting tonight to try to discredit our season. I am proud of what we have accomplished and would like to thank everyone who has supported and encouraged us this year. No matter what you do or what sport your into there are always a few who try to ruin it for everybody! It saddens me to see this class go from what it once was to what it is now .No matter what happens tonight I have enjoyed this season and racing with most of the guys in this class.

Steve

What happens tonite is going to show the ORA true colors! You passed tech, you tore down your motor, you recieved points for the nite, you kept the protest money and prise money. IF the ORA discredits you after that than there is reason for the ORA to take a strong look at what they are representing. And if nothing else your are still the 2009 Champion in my opinion because of what you had to fight your way through. After your tear down people had other oportunities to look again but didnt. All Ora members need to look at the opposistion in this dispute and judge for yourself if this organization is one that represents a group or a selected few!

Congrats YOU are the 2009 CHAMP!
