This is the Entry Thread to The 2009 Shootout.
The Shootout is an OPEN ENTRY Tournament. It is affiliated with the SFS Fantasy League - but has no bearing on that year long league. In other words - it is an Exhibition.
It covers 4 races over 2 weekends.
The first round covers Championship Weekend at SFS (Labor DayWeekend). The 2 races of that weekend - Sept. 4th and Sept. 6th. - are scored seperately. The second round covers the SFS Winter Nationals (run the weekend of October 10th).
No matter the number of entrants - there will be 4 groups of randomly selected entrants for the opening round. After Championship/Labor Day Weekend races - 1st and 2nd from those 4 divisions will form the 1st division for Winter Nationals. 3rd and 4th place after the first round will form the next division for Winter Nationals - and so on based on number of entrants. The scoring of those divisions after Winter Nationals determines final finishing positions for The 2009 Shootout. Of course the first group will be pos. 1-8. The 2nd group pos. 9-16. And so on.
Lastly - this is an Open Tournament. ANYONE can play. All 40 teams currently in the SFS Fantasy League can play - but do remember that this is scored SEPERATE from the weekly league. Championship Weekend (labor day weekend) does also serve as the final playoff for our WEEKLY SFS Fantasy League - but this is seperate. This is seperate entry and scoring. Anyone not already entered in the weekly league can play as well. Literally - ANYONE can play.
This is about the shortest and best I can explain. Any questions are very welcome. Last year we had 34 teams play. Sprints Rock was the Champion. Keep in mind this is the only fantasy event for Winter Nationals.
And remember - the entry deadline/cutoff for The 2009 Shootout is 11pm Wednesday, September 2nd. Which is NEXT wednesday.
We have had a very good (and trying lol) sophmore season to the weekly SFS Fantasy League. I hope we can also have a very fun sophmore edition of The Shootout.

btw I should note that this weekend I will open 2 different Shootout threads. One for friday Sept. 4th picks - and one for Sunday Sept. 6th picks. I'll open those over the weekend.
The friday thread will be "closed" at 7pm friday. And sunday thread 6pm sunday. Kind of as we always do. no picks after those times. Considering that - no one has to even enter in this thread really - just make picks by designated times next weekend.

Well team 37 is me and the other 4 are my kids who want to give it a try. Is it ok to have 5? If not I can just add 2 extra teams and have my kids pick in pairs. I tried to call you a couple times this morning. You were probably at work. I was going to ask you if it would be ok. If your phone has id on it the last 4 numbers of my phone are 3737.
