Saw this article at the races tonight. Thought it was interesting.

Man o man, I hate to hear that. Shayla is most likely in route to be the best female driver ever produced out of the OKC area. Not to place any doubt on Michelle Decker, SFS Champion and Chili Bowl regular.

Maybe the Waddell team needs to focus more on reliability rather than appearances and gadgets. Look at Butch Roberts, and his driver Darin Stewart. Darin is a damn good driver, and Butch hauls his equipment on an open trailer behind a 1/2 ton truck and they will most likely win the Super Sprint Championship.

We aign't proud either, we just come to race.

I agree with "Unk A". Sounds like whoever was originally in charge of the financial affairs of that team needs to be schooled on how, when and where to spend their sponsors money. It does not look good for a race team to blow their entire budget and then come crawling back for more. Might even make their sponsor think twice on renewing their commitment.

I've heard of creative financing but it's a shame that a 16 year old has to go out and float a loan because her supposedly older and wiser mentors have gone out and blown the bank. Makes you also question her mentors commitment. Why didn't they apply for the loan since it was their fault?

Does ENRON, AIG and LEHMAN BROTHERS sound familiar?

You gotta be kidding me, right ? This is a news article? No this is just racing, If your heart is in it and the desire is there GO RACE spend that family money, refinance the house maybe twice if needed. Crew salaries ? wow that must be cool ! maybe in Nascar. We have travelled to many race tracks with a crew of 2 me and my driver, yes it's tough but family money won't allow crew salaries. If we win enough the crew gets pit pass money and fed after the races, they are there because they love the sport as well.

Sponsorship money, yes we get a little, and it is very well appreciated, but to say we would'nt go race without it, or sole on it, No.

This reply is with no disrespect to the #88 team, I admire the fact that they are able to obtain that much sponsorship money, thats tough at this level or any level of racing. Just an opinion as to how our team and many teams must operate.

elbows up...stand on it hard.., & get that win!!

There are not enough women as it is in this sport. Great job and dedication for the sport that you love. Good luck the rest of the season and future one's.
