Dude....that's at least as cold as 80% of the races i've been to in 2009, including Florida!

Right on. The W.O.O. guys are a bunch of pampered pussies.

Smitty, thats because your promoters won't pull the plug if the weather outlook isn't ideal. It is currently sunny, breezy and pushing 60 as of right now. Pretty much ultimate drying conditions for the "flooded" areas. More of the same tomorrow with the wind dying down when the sun goes down.

Gotta love pulling the plug before seeing how it plays out. Can't wait to drive by the "flooded" track tomorrow when I get back to town!

The Rubins have pissed a lot of people off due to this, including myself, and if it wasn't for a free pass from work that sponsors the track, I would not attend their "weakly" Sunday shows. With gas down, there are more local people who will be making a trek down to Knoxville for shows instead of spending their money at Huset's.

"Home of the Professionals" - try not to laugh after reading what they call their selves. LMAO

You just miss your buddy Henderson - LOL!

I heard that sound very distinctly.

Sounded like someone hitting the nail on the head.

Anybody posting that kind of smack about promoters probably hasn't stood next to one while they watched a thunderstorm roll in on their Outlaw show while popping handfuls of Tums. wink

Hey Stan, I was there too, talk about cold. I was thinking of going to Huset's on Friday but was watching the weather and was thinking about to canceling when I seen Huset's made my mind up for me. Now I can stay home where it's warm.

I left my office in downtown St. Paul in a t-shirt and by 9pm I was huddled in the infield wearing a winter coat and gloves trying to stay warm. Some guy kept driving by me on a four wheeler and he looked pretty cold too. You wouldn't know who that was, would you?

As much as pepole like to bitch about Huset's speedway and some of the things they do, all in all you can't ask for much more. They put on a consistently good weekly show and once a year they have what they call the "patriot day special" in which all fans get in the stands absolutely free of charge. Where can you go an watch 410 and 360 racing for free? Like I said they do some questionable things including this weeks fiasco but every promoter/owner does, don't they?

The fans get in free, because a sponsor puts up the purse money, its not the Ruben's. Hell if its free why do the pitcrew and drivers have to pay then? What really burns my a$$ is when I watch the safety crew pay for their food and beverage in the pits, they can drink free water from a thermos but everything else is cash.

Drop by Huset's and get Rubenized by the McRubens.

I have to say I have enjoyed this particular topic. I could spend all day reading people's replies and comments to all of the questionable and more overly stupid things that the "McRubens" do on a constant basis. As for a person from the area like myself, it just makes me sick to know that fans and alot of the drivers, local and on tour, are being driven away because of the questionable decisions these owner/promoter/track preper/whatever else are doing and to think that this could possibly one day be like what happened at Manzy. Riped right out from under the fans and there being nothing we can do.

As Staggerman has already said, no it wasn't that race. Don't try playing tag with me since I busted your balls in the I-55 thread, you'll lose.

If it had been a WoO show, the place would have been packed as usual. You see, we have some kick ass promoters at fremont and attica. They actually interact with the drivers and the fans and they are constantly trying to improve the experience for everyone involved. Things aren't always perfect and you can't please everyone all of the time, but those guys are on the ball 24/7.

Couple that with FAST and you have a winning situation.

It's not about playing tag. I truly thought that was the race Kahne was at.

But I am highly amused that you think you busted my balls. Hell, maybe I appreciate that - I like a challenge. But nothing replaces the FACT that in every single point and principal I have ever made about the subject - you were silent. Instead you wait till I commented on a 55 lap race (which had nothing to do with the shit you then rambled off) - and then think thats a fine time to pull a bitch slap? Where were you when it was all being talked about? lol riiiiiiight.........ABSENT.

We both know there are several points I made that are tough to argue. They make sense. Fact is - at the time you argued NONE of them. Instead waiting til I said something about a 55 lap race - a comment that in no way pertained to ANY of those issues you then flew in to. Good for you if you think you busted my balls. Especially with a comment - and thread - that had absolutely nothing to do with the actual issues. Judging by that fact - the same thing you think you busted is the same exact thing you were lacking when all of this was talked about. You're not even close man.

It;s awfully easy to be critical of someone else's thoughts without presenting your own in full aint it?

Don't be so presumptious.....

We were set to drive down from Fargo (250 miles one way) and now very disappointed. Been a long wait, long cold winter, Grand Forks (river city speedway) has cancelled their first two Fridays, and we were really hoping---but not to be. I only see about 2 weekly shows a year there and have always liked the place. Outlaw sprints and 360 sprints---not many places that do that weekly.

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an

would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

And where have I ever been lacking in an opinion? I've posted my opinion about anything in this forum. If you havn't picked up on my views over the time that you've been in here, then you are the illiterate idiot that all of your political rivals have claimed that you are this whole time.

Here's the truth, if a 360 show is threatened by one race several hours away then the fan base for the 360's sucks. That goes for this situation as well. If people aren't willing to go see a race when it's just a little cold outside then the fan base sucks or the promoters think that they do.

You want to know why Ohio and Pa are what they are? We pack the seats. It doesn't need to be a sanctioned race. We support our local tracks to the point that they can maintain a good enough purse to keep the cars rolling in. The fans even care enough that some of them were willing to go out and put together a seperate point fund with no personal gain in an ailing economy. That's dedication. Maybe you should put down the roach clip and get your ass in gear and do the same thing in your area if you're so passionate about it instead of coming in here and bitching about it.

Now, you want to spout off about facts? Fact is that you want a 410 race to rain out so the drivers will support the 360 nats. Your words, not mine. I've been confronting you about this shit for about two years because, according to you, the evil 410's are out to ruin your precious little 360's. It started with an allstar race at Belleville a couple of years ago and went right on through to their race at Huset's last year. Want some facts? The allstars have been doing the thunder through the plains for several years. If the other promoters in the area were going to be effected by it the way you claim that they were, then they should have scheduled around it, not against it. It's not like it's something that just happened out of the blue.

Another fact, you've got a double standard. You like to talk out of both sides of your face. It stinks so I call it shit. What else can it be? Why didn't you respond in the thread that I called you out in earlier this week? The evidence was right there.

Now, last fact for you. I'm pulling 18 credit hours in an engineering program this quarter. For every credit hour I have to spend anywhere from 2-4 hours in study time and homework for every credit hour. I'm currently pulling a 3.6 GPA and would like to maintain that. I don't have the time to sit on my ass and post in every thread like you and Leon. Especially when the person I would be responding to is spouting the same sorry ass story that they have been for years. You make the broken record MSPN vs. Posse arguements look interesting in comparison.

Well, the forcast for today doesn't look to bad for a spring WoO show. Great call by the Rubins to pull the plug (sarcasm). What do they expect the weather to be like when they schedule a spring WoO show in South Dakota.

Sioux Falls, SD

Today: Partly cloudy, with a high near 59. West northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 37. West northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph becoming calm.

Oh, and on a side note, Hartford 20 miles down the road is still racing tonight.

Careful on those Pose arguments there Dude, lol. I kill them with actual STATISTICS and FACTS that can't be ignored nor refuted. Then they start to make up personal things, it gets real ugly, I get dirtier with some facts again and so on & on & on. The Outlaws will likely be running your local track in the not too distant future anyway, so don't sweat the small stuff, Take It Easy....

Like I said, we would've went, damned be the cold; some of us its all we have, that first sprint car or late model race of the year and the plug gets pulled after dreaming about it all winter. Stop scheduling this Southern Canada race in early early May, then we'll stop thinking about it.

Yeah, they are running attica later this month. I won't be there. I'm saving my money to head over to the grove and lincoln in the second week of june to see better racing than the outlaws can deliver.

It just gets old Mike. You guys have been having the same argument for years. I've seen the same comments made verbatum on an annual basis. It's just like this kid from Oklohoma. Same bullshit over and over. The 410's are this, the 410's are trying to ruin racing that. God forbid anyone says anything derogatory about the 360's, though. If someone from PA or Ohio would have came in here and said that they hoped that a 360 race would rain out there would have been a huge flame war. Kinda Ironic ain't it?

And you know...that event tonight 20 miles down the road at Hartford is about $93,000 cheaper to put on...

I'm not trying to defend anyone's decision but...it is THEIR decision and it is what it is.

That is a good point Todd. I am just disappointed that they decided to call it so early. Even with the cooler temperatures I would have guessed at-least 5-6,000 in the stands at $30 a head. 5000 X $30 = $150,000. Thats using a low head count and not counting concession and beer sales.

Perhaps PS can take his almost engineering degree and use it to gather all the people in Ohio and PA and get them to buy Husets.wink

#1: Ohio and PA have one heckuva lot larger fan base than does South Dakota. Gee!! I wonder why they have more people turn out even when the weather isn't good. Someone please 'splain that to me.

#2: Bleacher creatures, engineering students and other disgruntled people WAY away from the situation always seem to know best how to run a track. "Stupid promoters, just ripping off the fans and the teams that feed them", "Greedy S.O.B.'s want nothing but to make millions from a racetrack". Give me a frigging break. The only way to make a small fortune running a dirt track is to start with a BIG one; ever heard that saying?

Dirt tracks all over the country are no different than most of the businesses nowadays. They find themselves in a financial bind just like everyone else. They do what they can to please those who will NEVER be happy with the product that they have. Someone will find something to whine and complain about something, even if you gave them a hundred dollar bill each when they walk in the gates.

PA this, Ohio that!! Yeah, what does that have to do with a track in SD, ND, Nebraska or other place where there isn't anywhere near the saturation of people that some states enjoy?

You can't compare the 2 situations. Plain and simple.

You all take $100,000 of you own money and put it on the line for a show that will almost definitely lose a lot of money, no matter HOW much PR work you do and no matter how much advertising you buy. It can not be done no matter how much some folks say that it can. Then after you've lost your hiney tell me all about it. Smart business people take a small loss in order to avoid a huge one.

"I'd be there no matter how cold it was". Great, how about the other 7 or 8 thousand people who wouldn't? This isn't a weekly show for $10 or whatever, it's an Outlaw show with a huge purse and all kinds of other extra cash outlay.

Speak about what you know, not what you THINK you know.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

OK, I'll bite. We have a bigger fan base, but we have more tracks competing for that fan base. As I stated in another thread before, in one weekend in Ohio we have eight tracks that run a regular sprint show. All of those tracks are within a few hours drive of one another. Now, add millstream and eldora when they are running specials and you have ten. There are atleast 5-6 tracks that are right on the border of other states that are within a very easy drive of most points in Ohio that are also running a sprint show every weekend. That's the potential of 16 sprint races within a relatively small area that are all running on any given weekend. And all the tracks survive. That's just the dirt tracks.

Now, tell me how many tracks are competing with Huset's on any weekend that are within a 3 1/2-4 hour drive that are running 360 and 410 sprints. Knoxville.....................who else?

Also, I'm not sure what mental image you have of central PA, but there's nothing there. It's all rural farm country and it's several hours drive away from any major population centers. Pennsylvania is philadelfia on one end and pittsburg on the other with a lot of farms, small towns and trees in-between.

Power slave, use those numbers of yours then apply them, with in 4 hours of Hussets I doubt that there is 800K people, those possible 16 tracks in OH have what closer to 14 million or more close to them and we all know that weekly showsreally count on local market of 1 hour drive time, so doubt that hussets has even 400K potential people

Carl got it. 8 tracks into 14 million people (estimated) vs. 1 track into 800k. That's almost double the fan base per track if the figures are close to accurate.

Large difference.

What a coincidence! Hartford will have the same number of fans in the stands as Husets would have had tonight!
