I have a video I found and put it on the frontpage of my site. It was a sprintcar race from 1992 Lawton Speedway Winter Nationals, Danny Wood, Wayne Johnson, Gary Lee Maier. Video was shot by Freddie's Video. The tape cuts out at times, but I still thought I would share.

I recognize several on there & hear their names.
Ken Brewer, Kyle Forsythe Aaron & Alan Lemmons.
Not sure if I was there but Gary Lee Maier put a spankin' on the field
Good times. If I were there I was probably still in the doghouse with the ex-wife .
For some reason unknown to me a Honeymoon to The Knoxville Nat'ls earlier
that yr was not pleasing to her ????

hey thats awesome. i doubt i was there, but thats still really cool to see. Since I wasnt around yet in the 70's or earlier - this is my idea of a throwback lol.
On a side note - just watching that is further testament to how far that place has fallen. at least imo. I dont mean the drivers or the fans - I'm just talkin bout the "experiment" tried a few years ago that ruined the racing down there. I sure dont mean to offend Lawton patrons......but the racing was so much better before Lanny screwed with the track configuration. Of course, as is all things - hindsight is 20/20. I probably never thought at the time how much I liked the place - until he changed it and made it pretty much one groove coming out of turn 2 and turn 4. Its a clear difference to me - lookin at that video of how they come off bottom and top of turn 2 - - - and then how it is now.
Oh well, at least the Cheeseburgers still rock! and it is better now than when he first changed it - that first year or 2 was pitiful. I think I have seen some ok racing at times since.
