Okay, if you REALLY want to use racing as an example of the Obama tax plan, you need to look at it like this. The purse stays the same, but instead of it being $10,000 to win and $800 to start, it would go to $8,000 to win and $1,000 to start. The kicker is that there would be more cars, because there are more teams walking away with start money, than win money.

no, it would still pay the same but obama would take from the top finishers and give to whoever he wants. remember he does not want to lower your income, he wants to raise your taxes. he feels everyone should make the same as they do now, but then the ones who have done better for themselves need to kick down. also obamas plan has to do with individule income, not corporate taxes. so obama's plan wants to tax individules who have done well and made more money. that includes a lot of small businesses that are run as sole propriators. beware of those who say they only want to come after those above you, soon they will be coming after you as well. there are a lot of businesses that could make into the millions of dollars and still be a sole propriator. and what of the owner of a business that may not be a sole propriatorship who has the ability to pay theirself upwards of 250k? should they be penalized for their succsess? welfare has been proven not to work. i hate to say it but welfare has got to be one of the big mistakes of this country. now if a person had to do some kind of work in the community or something to while recieving welfare that would be different. i don't think most of us mind paying someones wages to do work for the community or local agency or what ever, but this welfare system has created generations of leaches. now obama wants to spread someone elses wealth around. while i do not like the idea of feeding off of one class of people just because they have done better for themselves, it would be easier to take if the money was going to go to some fund or project. buy obama just wants to give it back to people who have made less. is he going to tax them on it? oh, and there would still be the same number of teams walking away with start money. unless you start more cars. then you would have to have a bigger purse. if you have a bigger purse the promotor might have to raise the ticket price to try to make ends meet. in doing so he might just drive off some folks who can't afford to pay the prices because obama taxed into their spending money. so now you have a promotor that may not be able to sell the tickets that he needs at a price that would turn enough of a profit to make it worth it to him to put on a show. so now you have just shut down another track. are you happy?

Tell me, how ambitious am I??? It may not take as much intelligence to repair and maintain business jets as it does making plaques and trophies, but my wife and I make enough to raise 4 kids and live a decent life.

hawker, i don't care how smart or ambitious you are (i am sure you are competent in both areas). i just hate to see you penalized if you are fortunate enough to be in a position of wealth of the calibur we are talking. as i said somewhere else, i believe obamas plan that we are speaking of addresses personal income tax and not corporate tax. i am understanding that it is PEOPLE he is going after that make bucks with this plan, not big business.

I work for a small business, there are 12 employees, counting the owner and the secretary. The owner of our company overwhelmingly supports Obama, originally he wanted Hillary, but he says that the business can not take another 8 years like it has under Bush. He has studied both tax proposals and says that Obama's is best for out business.

People keep harping on the "redistribution of wealth" and that is a misrepresentation. There is only a .2% difference in the McCain and Obama tax plans in the end. Also, if you pay no taxes, you get no break or refund under the Obama plan.

The middle class (which I am a part of) is slowly being eliminated, our wages are not keeping up with inflation, but yet we keep being taxed the same. I am lucky where I work, as my boss recognizes the value of his employees and I get decent raises, but my wife is not as lucky. Over the past 3 years, she has got 2%, 2.5% and nothing this year. But yet everything else is going up. On top of that, the current administration has spent more money than any administration in the history of the country, even with out the costs of Iraq, Afghanistan and the recent $700 billion bailout. It's time to pay the piper.

Like what Warren Buffet said the other day in an interview, the rich can ALWAYS find loop holes to keep from paying their taxes. Remember what Leona Helmsly said??? Us in the middle class are not that lucky, we have been carrying the load for too long. People are pissed because of that and you will see an election map like you haven't seen in well over 40 years because of it.
