410s (17 Cars)
Welcome Mat Billy Alley, Bronson Maeschen, Robert Bell
MIA Justin Henderson, Scott Winters, John Miller, Ryan Bickett
VIP Back over to the turn 1 stands to join LDA24, his family, and his new fiancée.
Time Trials (1 lap each) Johnn Cressman (12th out) set quick time on a tacky track with a 10.873 lap with an average speed of 124.161 MPH. The top 6 drivers eclipsed the 11 second barrier and snuck into the 10s. Rounding out the invert of the top 12 were: Jake Peters, Mark Dobmeier, Gary DeWall, Bronson Maeschen, Billy Alley, Chad Meyer, Gregg Bakker, Wade Nygaard, Dusty Ballenger, Marlon Jones, and Gordy Vogelaar
Time Trials Grade: B; good track to qualify on with high speeds but it was a sign of a bad track to come for the heats.

Heat 1 Finish: 4 9M 96 13 1w/ 12L 101 28 56
Heat 1 Notes: Nygaard took off with the lead from Jones on a very rough and narrow track. Something broke for Cressman on the 4th lap resulting in him going head on into the turn 1 wall. Pretty solid lick for the 56, but they would make repairs in order to start the feature. Nygaard walked away with another heat win for the #4 machine.

Heat 2 Finish: 2D 33 57x 22 11x/ 16 D1 71
Heat 2 Notes: Ballenger took the lead and coasted with his 4th heat win of the year. Peters was the only guy to make a move and did that by coming from 6th to 3rd in a hurry. Alley would challenge him the rest of the way on the bottom but couldn't complete a pass. Follow the leader elsewhere throughout.
Heat Grades: D-; it would have been an F if it wasn't for Peters moving up and Alley challenging him for 3rd. Typical Huset's heats on the year.
B Feature (Top 4 Tag the A, 12 Laps) Starting Order: No B Feature as all cars started the A.

Initial start was actually good with Jones blowing off the old-time rust. The lead he had was short-lived as there was a caution for Ballenger on the 2nd circuit. After the restart Bakker quickly moved up to 3rd with his sights set on Jones and Vogelaar. Dobmeier also moved up quickly, disposing of Alley early on.
A lap 4 red flag came out when Lambertz hit the inside berm in turn 1 and lazily turned her on her side. He was done for the night, but not injured. The restart saw Jones leading
Vogelaar, Bakker, Nygaard, and Meyer. Bakker moved into 2nd on the 8th lap, trying to catch up to Jones who had a sizeable lead ahead of him. At this juncture there was a good battle going on for 4th with Maeschen, Meyer, and Dobmeier duking it out on a tight, but racy track.
With 11 laps to go Bakker took the lead from Jones on the bottom coming off of 4. Jones would actually slide him back going into turn 1 and have the lead coming off of 2. Great back and forth battle between the two and Bakker would end that by taking the lead for good in turns 3 and 4. Maeschen sneaked his way up to 2nd with 5 laps to go, but would lose that position a lap later to an ever-coming Dobmeier. But Bakker's lead was too big as the race stayed green, and Bakker picked up his 1st victory of the year, and 9th career 410 victory. Dobmeier held on for 2nd, Maeschen 3rd, Jones 4th, and Nygaard 5th. Jones led laps 1-14, Bakker 15-25 & he also picked up a $1,000 bonus from a sponsor to make it a $3,500 win.
Finish: 11x 13 96 9M 4 1w 22 16 33 28/ D1 71 57x 101 56 12L 2D
A Feature Grade: B; good racing throughout as the good drivers made their moves up through the field while the others faded or stayed where they started. Had there been another 5 laps or a late caution, it was going to be Dobmeier in victory lane.
360s (19 Cars) Jody Rosenboom picked up his 10th win of the year after starting on the pole and leading all 18 laps. That coming after they denied a $500 and $750 bounty to start last on the field in order to win. They complained about a heavy track and wanting to have 7 more laps in order to start last. Yah, that's real fair to the rest of the field, you getting an extra 7 laps in order to come up through the field. Pretty comical watching the #27 making fools of themselves, but that wasn't all!
Another sponsor put up another $500 bonus to make it $1,250 bounty total if Jody would come from last to win. The owner accepted it over the microphone so the crowd thought Jody would be starting last… until they rolled out about 20 minutes later and Jody still sat on the pole. Boos rain down on the 27 for not holding onto their word, as they claimed the track didn't warrant enough passing in order to come from the back. Brent Vonk, with a much smaller budget than the 27's, went 16th to 3rd on that 'narrow' track.
FOAW: Bronson Maeschen was very impressive coming up from 8th to finish 3rd while he held down the 2nd spot until Dobmeier got him late. Career best finish for him at the track in only his 6th start of the year up here. Hope to see him up here a few more times and hopefully that first career win comes soon.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: Walking into the grandstand and seeing that Henderson officially flew the white flag on the points race as Rosenboom was carrying the D1 number. With 5 races left and 26 points back of Dobmeier, it was great seeing them quit on the points title. Let the excuses begin to fly..
Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: Great hearing Hot Rod and Shawn taking shots at the Jackson Speedway infield announcer from the weekend when he kept saying "buddy boy" in victory lane to all of the drivers. Great cracks at him and it had a very select few in the stands laughing pretty hard.
WTF: Cressman wadding up another car, but this time it came from nothing he could do when something broke on the car. But that's still another junked car on the year. The 56 goes through cars like theres no end in sight.
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: Having a rough track all night that had to cause a couple of the parts breaking on cars resulting in the accidents. The 56 of Cressman and the 13 of Jordan Martens in the 360s could have a legitimate gripe against the Rubins for the crappy, rough track causing them to junk their cars.
Mulligan Moment: Having a couple people comment on the whereabouts of the Report from the week before. Jeez people, I didn't know it was that big of a deal if I took a week off. The hits will continue to come.
Head Scratcher: Billy Alley starting 7th and finishing right there in 7th. This coming from a guy who was on the podium at the 360 Nationals, made the A for the 410 Nationals, and coming off a $5,000 win at Jackson the night before. He was also nowhere to be found after the races, leaving a dozen or so fans wandering around to another stall or to their cars. Bullring racing, it brings out the best the drivers baby!
Thumbs Up: Getting to see Team Crown make a complete mockery of themselves throughout the night. Great entertainment watching them make complete asses of themselves when they said they'd take the challenge, only in order to see them back out come feature time. It'd be great if those bounty sponsors decided not to do it next week or even put the money up for another team to come from the back.
Thumbs Down: Track conditions leading up to the 410 Feature were pretty rough. Even though Vonk put on a show passing 13 cars in the 360s it was still pretty rough then. But come the 410 feature, the elbows were definitely up for the drivers!
Prime Mover: Dobmeier moving up 7 spots coming from 9th to 2nd, while Maeschen flew from 8th to 3rd.
Trophy Queen Grade: Same girls as a couple weeks ago. Lets get a few new ones out in victory lane dammit.
Closing Stat of the Night: Dobmeier now has a 40 point lead over Peters in the standings with 4 races to go. You can write that $10,000 check out to Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports after the D1 decides to no-show on the night!
Final Thought: Sorry for the no-show on the Report from Jackson, but after getting home at 1AM from there, it was best to head to bed instead of writing one up. Next report: Huset's August 24th.
