Heard Justin Zoch is getting married and not coming back down to Knoxville next year.

If true, good luck and you will be missed by many.

Justin will be missed. Guess $150 a night doesn't go as far as it used to. Good luck trying to find a capable replacement, all things considered.

JZ did a very good job and he'll be missed every week by the fans in the stands who have appreciated him over the past eight or so years. Good to know he's not married to an ego that he needs to feed by being on the mic.

The other guy at Knoxville has an ego big enough for the whole booth. It will take someone with a special disposition to deal with that on a weekly basis. I bet whoever they hire will not last nearly as long...nor will he want to.

Congrats, Justin, on your impending matrimony. You'll find there is much more to life than just racing and you'll appreciate both life and racing more with moderation and balance.

I heard that there was a huge disagreement about camping spots and that the announcer with the bigger ego got favoritism and was able to get front row seats for all of the great shows of music being played at the end of the grandstands. He probably slept like a baby. I'll bet Josh Zoch got miffed and after some b.o.b. lemonade, and told them to take it and shove it.

Thats some funny, (and reality) shit right there. LOL

Man can own everything, except for one thing, and with that one thing, the woman rules everything! LOL

Wouldn't want to be the one that took that picture in this day and age. The PC NAZIS would be all over you and lock yer arse up. When will we take back our country?

The "other" announcer would be better off being the MC at male beauty contests.

Who cares if he has an ego. he should he is one of the best around. That goes for Zoch as well.

Zoch and Bockovan (sp) are light years better than anyone else in Midwest.

I will second all of the great things being said about Justin Zoch. He is not only a great announcer, but as my editor at FlatOut Magazine, he has given me the opportunity to write about the sport that I love.

I personally believe that Justin can hold his own at the top level of broadcasting or as a magazine editor for any publication, regardless of topic. And yes, should Johnny Gibson ever decide to sign off for the last time, Justin would be a very worthy candidate to replace him. We are lucky to have him in this business.

Thank you Justin for all that you do for our sport and the opportunities that you have given me.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts... Yah, just to clear up, this will be my last year announcing at Knoxville but I fully intend to spend plenty of time there next summer when not hitting other tracks around the region. Tony, Mike and I have had a great time together and I couldn't have asked for two nicer, more enjoyable people to work with for the last eight years and I'll really miss the time in the booth shoulder-to-shoulder with T-Bok. Those two, and Johnny G. when he has been there, have helped me immeasurably over the past eight years and I'll miss working them on a weekly basis.

Thanks again for all the kind words in the previous posts. I really appreciate it.

All good things,

Justin

Justin, your understated enthusiasm and broad knowledge will be sorely missed in the booth. I for one truly enjoyed listening to you the last eight years. Good luck to you in whatever the future holds.

Does this mean you will be moving your beautiful home at the north campground to South Minneapolis? Better get those bearings packed before you make the trip! Seriously, thanks for crash space during the nats. We owe you beers....

Sorry to see you leave the booth J.Z. You did good. Congrats on the wedding.... it's not all bad being married, outside of football and racing season anyway. LOL.

Funny to read the comments of the other announcers. I've taken some shots at them as well in the past. I've probably been too hard on Tony at times. Over all they do a good job. Tony is basically trying to be like his hero Tim Trier and you can't fault a guy for that. I wouldn't want that job for anything. You're more of a talking commercial anyway most of the time.

My beef with announcers/raectracks is that they have lost touch with art of scorekeepers in the stands. In the 70's & 80's the announcers would even take the time to spell a drivers name at times. And keeping score is what helped people learn more about the racing program, the format, inverts, and it kept people interested in the show, even time trials. It was a great learning tool for the fan. Now you can't even buy a score card and that connection with announcer & fan is gone. Even the score board is tough to keep up with as it scrolls too fast to write down most things. I just love it when Jack Miller brings this up in SC&M at times. He's so right. But the announcer is under pressure to plug sponsors and such and I don't fault them. I blame the promotor. Who is more important... the fan, or the sponsors? Why someone who puts up $2,000 or whatever the going rate is today for a sponsor of the night, gets more attention than 3,000 people that paid $12 (equals $36,000) to see the show is beyond me.
