Time Trials (1 lap each)
Track looked to get faster throughout qualifications. Lasoski stomps the clocks at 10.883 at over 124MPH. Henderson (D1) 2nd quick, Lambertz (12L) a solid 3rd (all three under 11 seconds). Rest of the order through the heat invert of 18th: Peters (57x), Schliemann (4), Bakker (11x), Cressman (56), Alley (22), Garner (40), Jones (9M), Runge (28), Dobmeier (13), Vogelaar (33), DeWall (16), Meyer (1w), Reed, Jeffrey (12), Dobesh
Time Trials Grade: D because the scoreboard didn't work for the 2nd straight week and could not hear the announcers over the roar of the engines a few times when reading off the times.
Heats (Top 6 Inverted from TT, Top 6 to the A with Top 4 Inverted in the A)
Heat 1 Finish: Vogelaar, Peters, Reed, Lasoski, Winters (23w), Rosenboom (6)
Heat 2 Finish: Alley, Jeffrey, DeWall, Henderson, Schliemann, Ballenger (2D)
Heat 3 Finish: Meyer, Dobmeier, Bakker, Lambertz, Garner, Bickett (17B)
Heat Grade: A-. Track was very racey with passing going on for the transfer spot of 6th and the invert spot of 4th. Track was getting wide setting up a good track for the rest of the night.
B Feature (Top 2 Tag the A)
Starting Order: Martens (51), McGillivray (101), Dobesh (1), Miller (24M), Cressman (56), Runge (28), Jones (9M)
Finish: Miller and Runge transferred through in a "loaded" B Feature. Cressman misses out on the 410 A again. Electrical issues in the heat forced him to the B again and he just didn't have enough time.
B Feature Grade: C since Huset's doesn't line up the B on qualifying times but instead on the finishing order of the heats and if you DNF in the heat you have to start at the back of the B as well. Dumb system.
A Feature (25 Laps)
Starting Order: 33 13 22 11x 57x 12L D1 5 16 1w 92v 12 23w 4 40 6 2D 17B 24M 28
Initial start called back TWICE for false starts by each of the front row members. Warnings issued and both stayed on front row, another dumb rule we'll address in a bit. The official start saw Dobmeier take the point and absolutely set sail from the rest of the field on the high side. Alley worked his way up to 2nd for a bit, but lost his momentum on a few laps and saw Henderson, Dude, and Bakker fly by in that order. Pretty good racing going on for 2nd through 6th with those 4 and Peters. Dude had a chance to get by Henderson a few times and couldn't seal the deal. Only 1 caution in the race on lap 19 for Schliemann who stopped at the bottom of turn 2. Restart order saw Dobmeier leading Henderson, Dude, Bakker, & Alley for the last 6 laps. Dobmeier checked out to notch his 21st career victory in a 410 at Huset's and the $2500 victory. He led all 25 laps as well.
Finish: 13 D1 5 11x 22 57x 23w 40 16 12L 12 1w 28 2D 92v 4 6 33 17B 24M
A Feature Grade: B- a lot of passing going on right away but just way too many fast cars at the front and it stabilized after 15 laps.
360s (18 cars)
Brock Dump (12) passes Rosenboom (27) outta 4 to take the victory in one of the best features we'll see all year. They switched the lead a handful of times in the corners the last few laps and Dump went low in 3 and 4 on the last lap to get it back passed Jody. Its great to see someone beat the 27 with the amount of money they have under the hood for a 360. Cody Hansen, Casey Abbas, & Ryan Bickett rounded out the Top 5. Eric McGillivray led laps 1-13, Dump 14-18.
FOAW: Dobmeier gets the notch tonight after fixing whatever was wrong last week. FYI he already has 1 WoO win under his belt at Wilmot in 2006.
VIP: Wertz MIA once again, even with the Dude in attendence, as he's in Flori-duh on vacation. Also heard through the grapevine that BT24 doesn't think the Big J Report is as big as rubbish as he posted last week. The lovely Natalie Sather also in the area watching the racing action.
WTF: Huset's needs to implement the rule the Outlaws have for a false start and sending a car back a row if they jump it. Looks pathetic when the front row jumps TWICE and neither get penalized. Also, legitimate car count for 2008 with 27 and now 25 cars to start the year and great cars at that.
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: 1 tow truck once again and there were 3 cars that needed a hook during the 360 feature. Took over 10 minutes to clean the mess and it shoulda took 5 minutes.
Head Scratcher: The Dude not being as fast as a lot predicted in the heat and in the feature. They'll prob. take a 3rd for the first night out at the track, but gotta feel they can do better.
Thumbs Up: Great drivers and cars in the 410 division. This summer is shaping up to one of the best, if not the best, at the track. And one of the best 360 features I've ever witnessed with Dump taking the win.
Thumbs Down: The aforementioned 1 tow truck, has to be changed for next week.
Stat of the Night: Winters goes 13th to 7th presumably with a 360 under the hood.
