I have heard everything now.

The witch from New York actually thinks the American public is so damn stupid that they will believe that the oil companies will pay the tax if the tax has a holiday.

Now come on Billary, I know many of your followers aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but NO company pays a damn thing, ALL expenses are paid for by the consumer.

She sounds good until she makes BS like this.

I guess it has to be her donkey talking, even her mouth should know better.

Open up the closed refineries, drill Alaska full of holes, grow more corn, but don't think for a minute that the oil companies will asorb the taxes. lol lol lol

Obama says it is only 18 cents a gallon ...about 30 cents day to the average driver. O.K. lets reverse that a little bit then, so if it's "only a few cents a day" let's double the existing tax. Remember it's "just a few cents a day" (Oh ...oh ... the screaming is deafening) I don't care if it's a nickel a month, anything I get to keep and government doesn't get, is the GREATEST idea I've heard lately.

I agree, it is just the way she said she would force the oil companies to pay for the tax out of their windfall profits.

Those bastards will continue to make the huge profits as long as we are dependent on them.

I did read however that a couple of decades ago, it took more minutes of wages to get a gallon than it costs now.

I really think it is funny how other things have gone up thousands of percents and no one notices, gas goes up some, everybody notices.

Do you suppose the rest of the businesses are smart enought to not put the price of their products in 3 foot tall letters at the side of the road. lol

I have never seen a shoe store chain have the price of their cheapest shoe in 3 foot tall numbers on a pole out front of their store.

the oil companies earn INSANE PROFITS (?) by extracting oil from a dangerous part of the world, ship it half around the world, refine it with 1970 technology, hault it to the station so you can fill up for about the same price as a gallon of milk.

of every gallon sold, oil comnpany profit accounts for a few cents LESS than the TAXES YOU PAY on the same gallon to deadbeats in the gov't who are now trying to buy your vote. how these deadbeat get away with hiding the TAX SCAM from the dim-ocrat voter is still the best joke going.

nothing like Obama saying that lower gas prices is a "GIMMICK" and HRC finally resorting to suggesting a TAX CUT as her latest topple Obama SCHEME!

holy crap. I finally agree with BRR and NoDust. this is monumentous.

The idea of suspending that tax is idiotic. its like putting band-aid on a broken ankle. But McCain and Clinton know that the american people taken as a whole - are stupid enough to go for it. it must make the oil companies very happy in fact. if gas went down 20 cents in 1 day (or whatever it is). everybody would feel a lil bit better about driving and take off. what I'm saying is consumption would double even if for a short time. and the oil companies will benefit. with this gas tax out - they don't make any less money = in fact they make a lot more. if Clinton is stupid enough to tax em - they will just transfer the lost proit and cost down to us, the consumer. the only way to get the oil companies in gonads for good is to have a mainstream alternative. but companies like Exxon being the largest in the world.............that means power.

As ilberal as I am labeled. and as much as I think in terms of environment. I do think we need more refining capability as somewhat a short term fix. but its only effective if at the same time - an alternative is being seriously worked on. that end of it I doubt. but it is true what the 2 candidates are saying is nothing short of a ploy they know will work because people are flat ass too stupid to see the larger picture. maybe that would have something to do with how oil men got elected in the 1st place. they prob. figured it a wise investment..............this idea is somewhat to be expected from McCain - and ya know if he actually still held the nuts to tell his own party to go to hell like he has in the past ----- it might work as after the summer he could implement some more things as well. But its clear why he is doing it. and its clear why Clinton is doing it too. If it weren't for Obama's skin color - he would already be de facto president. because he is hittin the nail on the head when he calls it pandering. 49% of the country sees it that way. 45% think its the right way to go. thats says a lot for the intelligence of both sides.

It's ironic that I lean so heavily democratic. but yet I would vote McCain over Clinton. I think our best interests are the leats of her concerns. She sees the dough and retirement plan the Bush and Cheney have accomplished since 2000 and she wants her slice. maybe McCain and Obama do to............but I think either of em would at leats make some decisions with folks like us in mind. I haven't heard say anything that really suggests she does. her biggest point - NAFTA - is tangled up in so much BS it' unreal. she says she opposed it - while yet her and her husband fought for it. she says she's against it now - but yet a high member of her campaign is promoting it down in Columbia 3 days before Bush sends it to Congress. and she claims ignorance. yeah right. the fact she has the vote from white blue collar americans kind of says a thing or 2. not all are racist. not all are stupid. but frankly 100% of her supporters fall into 1 of those 2 categories.

Last Thursday or Friday in the Wall Street Journal. I know what your thinking. WSJ, sprint car message board, not exactly two things that go to together. Anyway they interviewed the CEO of Chevron about different topics. When asked about alternative fuels. It will never happen. Were screwed! I tried to cut and paste it but you have to be a subscriber. I'm not I read for free at work. Let the boss pay for it.

dude, keep smokin...you missed the whole poin t of my post - the oil companies are operating on a 8% profit margin which is very low compared to other industries in the private sector. for instance, if your company were to find itself at DOUBLE that rate (16% profit) they would probably lay your @ss off and be looking to sell out to a more profitable competitor and wash their hands altogether.

single digit profit margins are risky and often force companies right out of existence when there is any sort of economic ripple or stress on their market. for instance, if you only made 8% more money than you owed in bills and expenses...and you had to take 2 weeks off from work due to illness...you would be screwed for many months / years to come until you got caught up.

IMO - gas has been cheaper here than in other countries because of our demand...however, the demand equation is shifting to China and India where there is a construction boom and people are buying CARS which now need GAS. the chickens are now coming home to roost on the Democrats who sided with eco-morons and stopped domestic drilling, namely Bill Clinton who vetoed the ANWAR proposal in 1995. had that bill passed, millions of barrels of OIL would now be flowing from that region to "ease the dependency on foreign oil". But instead, the dirtbag sided with the lame brains.

FYI: Exxon is not BIG compared to National Oil Companies (NOC's)...yes, commie countries only have 1 oil company to choose from...the one the govt runs. imagine Obama in charge of the price of gas in this country...he has already said that lowering the price 18 cents would never happen under his watch!

yes, the sad truth is these BIG OIL companies that causes liberal heartburn only control about 25% of the world supply and their percentage is dropping every day...the only way out of this mess is for companies like EXXON to be more profitable in order to GROW to wrestle more of the oil supply away from the commies.

I hate to add fuel to the fire.....but if you haven't seen this it is really worth the time spent to read:

MB

Subject: Tax system explained in Beer

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for
all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes,
it would go something like this

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are
all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily
beer by $20."Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes
so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.
But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they
divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that
from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end
up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would
be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he
proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four
continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men
began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He
pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a
dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10
back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't
get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine
sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the
bill,
they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money
between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is
how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the
most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for
being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might
start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D.
Professor of Economics
University of Georgia

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who
do not understand, no explanation is possible.

ok I guess hell is a few degrees above freezing afterall..............

but I don't think it's just liberals that Exxon Mobil causes heartburn for. and if smokin were my thing - I;d be right at it................better than lining up at the trough to eat all the crap that conservative pundits spew out. Exxon Mobil has enough paid lobbyists and spokesmen without you doing it for free.
