The midwest sits on some of the worlds largest fault lines. Just none of them have been active in thousands of years. If they ever do become very active again...we are screwed. Building here are not made for it. It will happen someday though and way worse than any California Earthquakes.

At least that is what I know from class. Just the fault lines here have not done much in thousands of years.

Not true JH. A show on the history channel recently had a documentary on an earthquake in the same area that occured in the 1800's if my memory serves me right.

Duane, it wasn't global warming, it was a result of all the bullshit you and your buddy in PA have been shoveling in here lately. It had to have a negative result somewhere inbetween. I'm sure you'll find a way to blame a democrat. Have fun mulling over a suitable response. I'm goin' to the track.

Ah yes Duane making more political commentary. Whats new? You have narrow views of a big, complicated world and unfortunately these narrow views prevent you from any substantive mental advancement. You bitch about the Knoxville Raceway and everything they do from track prep to promoting to start times etc. I watched the racenetwork.tv highlights of last years races and 99% was ALL GREAT ACTION but last year you pissed and moaned after every single race.
Cheers!

1811-1812...New Madrid, MO earthquakes along the Mississippi River. Reversed the flow of the river. If it happened in today's world, places like St.Louis and Memphis would be hit hard. Benton, MO would REALLY have track prep problems.

I guess the center of today's earthquake was centered about 10-15 miles from Haubstadt, IN. With the Outlaws there this weekend, could it be an ironic omen?

"To know Duane is to love Duane" NO THANKS!! I wouldn't want to be around such a naive individual. I'd rather watch paint dry or a Nascrap race then to be around him!

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

Now come on... that was a low blow. You don't have to sink to their level. No Nascar race is as bad as listening to those two run around like we are at special summer camp.

That is what I meant by Very Active. They are some what active every decade or so. But from what I remember years ago. If they do what they are capable of, they will be some of the worst Earthquakes the world has ever seen.

If I remember right one is right down the Miss river. One reason why it flowed backward. It caused a small split on the river bottom in the crust. So like a drain it went down it some and some water backed up in the low pressure to flow up stream.

90% of my postings are tounge in cheek, and my complaints about the raceway were well founded.

When the promoter gets in the papers ect complaining about the crowds, I felt it only my duty to tell them what they could not see for themselves in their forest, because the trees got in their way.

To make a long story short, I am seeing VERY positive things in the very near future coming from the place.

I have yet to make my first million off the sprint car trophies I make.

Sprint car awards are without a doubt, the smallest income source I have, it is right down there with curling and outdoor ice hockey in Florida.

I have a gut feeling that the show will start on time more often than not this season, just like it does in theaters across the Nation, and at stick and ball sports, as well as every MAJOR automotive venue.

When people stop thinking that critisism is a bad thing and start listening and do something about it, positive things will happen.

The paying customer does not give a damn for excuses as to why something is not right, whether it be the quality of a meal, the quality of a trophy, the lateness of delivering a product ect.

A business is in business to deliver a good, or a service, ALL businesses only have 2 things to sell a customer, QUALITY and SERVICE.

This is true if a guy runs a trophy shop, a body shop, a donut shop, or even a race track.

The business will live or die on the customer preception of those 2 things.

Mr. Henry, if you are who I think you are, you have done nothing for 35 years except to make excuses why the product you were delivering was not done on time, I for one was tired of the excuses.

I will not be working at Knoxville this year (by my choosing), but trust me, I will be there some of the time, but I will also by pass the Central Iowa venues and travel to Husets and Eagle ect a few nights when I used to be in Central Iowa, I do want to have a life outside of Marion County for a change after spending nearly every race night in Marion County since 1974.

I do know that this year will be a turn around year, I really think that they got the message that the customers were not coming back for regular visits because of errors in the overall business sense, rather than not coming back because of other things such as bowling, golf, softball, gambling ect.

I really said very little last year about much of the racing, I did voice honest and true concerns about the inability to properly maintain control of the employees who were responsible for a late starting show. I really understamd that the weather had a lot to do with the hardness of the surface, and towards the end of the year, a large investment was made to help the crews prepare the surface that a professional, top quality place is expected to deliver.

I would rank last season at a C+ or B- compared to a weak D the season before.

After the removal of a hemmroid that was employed there, things are taking a turn for the better.

I expect that this year will advance to maybe a B+ and next year will be an A again like it has been in other seasons.

In the words of P. Ray Grimes, "Win friends and influence racing" that is hard to do when a team is not all pulling the same direction.

The soution is very easy, give he fan his monies worth, deliver a professional, well run show, entertain the fan, treat them like you would like to be treated, get the show over by 10PM with rare accident or rain filled nights of whatever it takes.

Have a great day, I will be around for the Masters Classic to watch the car that I am paying travel expenses for to make the 350 mile trip to race.

Of the couple really negative posts about Duane's comments I will add my 2 cents worth! I have had the pleasure to deal with Duane by phone on about 3 occasions. The first 2 happened about 5 years ago when I contacted him about 2 seats in the Museum suites for the Nationals. This was due to the fact that my wife had really severe arthritis that made it all but impossible for her to climb stairs. Duane was a really class act and instrumental in our getting 2 seats for the show. As it turned out my wife's condition worsened, and I posted a link here on HH's trying to sell the tix. The first response to the post was Duane saying that the museum would buy the seats back for what we paid. I received the check in 2 days before our tix even got back to Knoxville. 3 years ago when we moved out to Arizona for my wife's health reasons I was close to Knoxville on a race nite, and called the museum looking for Duane. He told us to look him up when we got to into town. Well as they say the rest is history. We were put up in a Suite for the races that night, & treated in a really first class way. When I tried to pay for the splendid hospitality received Duane just said that he was happy to be of assistance. I have also seen Duane supply plaques, and trophy's on multiple occasions in the past 5 plus years without expecting anything in return. Duane, MSPN, BRR have probably done more to keep this website afloat other than Alan, since I remember it being mentioned over the PA system at Williams Grove about 10 years ago. Personally while I don't have to agree with everything that Duane has done , it is far more than a couple of earlier posters did when they slammed him. I guess that the old saying of "walk a mile in my shoes" might apply here. Between here IOW, and ABC Motorsports I have met more really classy outstanding individuals, who have gone out of their way to help a stranger in town ( even you Stubb!) than either Powerslave, or Henry will ever know. IMO.

When the Mississippi flowed backwards back then it made Reelfoot Lake - a great fishing lake my family used to vacation at every Memorial Day weekend. I can still remember riding along listening to the Indy 500 on the radio...

Thank you Mr Bamber.

As you may or may not know, I have "retired" from working as a volunteer at the HoF effective the final race of the 2007 season.

I gave te HoF notice the end of May last year, that he end of the season would be my last race.

I will be right honest with you, many factors entered into making this decision, including the fact that I have never been to Eldora, Eagle, Belleville ect because I devoted each and every race night for 17 years to Knoxville, and all but 6 to Knoxville since 74.

I could see things that I could not express as long as I was working there that needed to be mentioned.

Rather than complain from within, I felt it better to voice concerns from the outside.

The addition of MANY more nights to the season,(over the years) the substution of late models for sprint cars, ect helped do a little (or a lot) to the burnout factor.

My voice, I believe was heard by the powers in control, and many great changes have been made.

Knoxville is still very near and dear to my heart, anything I say, or have said if taken as constructive and acted upon will be beneficial to both Knoxville and myself.

As far as the trophies go, I have donated trophies and plaques for the fans and drivers for the Bradway Memorial, many Hoseheads Beanbag tourneys from Williams Grove to Chico, to Eldora, to Knoxville to Tulsa, just to name a few, as well as bowling tournaments for the KRCO.

I have NEVER charged for these items, seldom been where they were given out and sure as heck never asked for anything in return.

I have sponsored MANY sprint cars with drivers from Canada, Australia,New Zealand, drivers at Husets, Rock Rapids and Lake County, 350 miles from home.

I have never collected a single dime for any time I have volunteered to Knoxville in the past 35 years.

I was the original founder of the Motorcycle Parking found at race tracks all over the world NOW.

I saw to it that when the gas crisis of the early 80's took place, the 4 or 5 bikes showing up had a secure place to park.

By the end of the season the bike crowd had increased to several hundred per week.

I did this to "win friends and influence racing"

When I see a wrong, I feel is is my job to try and "right" it.

If my detractors would donate 10% of what I have in the past 35 years we would have standing room only by now, but some people find it easier to bitch about what I may have said or done than do anything themselves.

I am proud of my history at Knoxville and the things I have been a behind the scenes part of.

I don't want a dime, a pat of the back or another damn thing, but I do feel I deserve the respect of the place and an open mind about listening to things I see as a businessman myself that are plain and simple not right.

I can see, I was listened to, and I am sorry I had to make people pissed off when I spoke the truth, but I won't ever be able to say I was sorry I said things.

Knoxville, and the Hall of Fame are the 2 most important things in my life, and I am happy to see the changes Brian is making toward filling the grandstands like the "good ole days" were.

Thanks again for your support,

CYA at a race sometime, someplace.

I may be retired but I ain't dead.

I'm not complaining about Duane's contributions whether they be real or imagined. Posting racist "jokes" and infantile insults is only a positive contribution to a website if you are attempting to alienate sections of a community that under normal circumstances would be participating in an unobstructed manor that the message board was intended for. Those are the things that I have issue with. If you consider my earlier post a slam, what would you consider his posts in other recent threads on this board? Or, is it ok that he said those things because he did you a favor in the past?

Further more, I would like to point out, you have absolutely no idea of who I am and what my contribution to this sport may or may not be. Yet, you feel justified enough to "slam" me for what you don't know if I've done or not. The word hypocrisy quickly comes to mind.

The sport is currently shrinking, has enormous monetary issues in its top division and is struggling to maintain its fanbase in many areas. The last thing it needs is to be associated with some of the garbage that is shoveled around here.

Let me give you a few examples of what a new or prospective fan would find in some recent posts on this board.

1. In the post about the passing of the owner of williamsgrove, MSPN said that he would like to purchase the track so he could turn it into a corn field.

2. Duane posts a "joke" about bulldozing Obama supporters that if it were told in its original context, belongs in the inane ramblings of a kkk convention.

3. BRR says that racing outside of central pennsylvania "pales" in comparison and is more than willing to let anyone know how stupid they are if they don't accept his political doctrine.

Is it simply tongue-in-cheek or is it truly heart felt opinion? Who knows? Certainly not a new potential fan that we need to attract to the sport. Instead of coming off like a group of dedicated adult fans, it looks like a bunch of punks that are sneaking on to the computer while mom and dad aren't looking and trying to impress one another with simple minded playground insults.

Take it all as you will. I would expect better if I were you but that's your choice.

I take it like this... opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one. If I don't want to read the opinions that people post on this board, well... I guess I go read a different one.
