On Lawton's website it shows 6 classes for this season - the 4 from last year as well as limited mods and super sprints............

Is Lawton going to try and run super sprints weekly or bi-weekly? I don't recall seeing it on here. whats the deal?

? has no one been told? I'd kinda figure that if Lawton was gonna run em it woulda been announced by now - along with OKC and Lawton schedules. man I'm anxiously awaiting the okc one. kinda sad maybe but it's about all I need to create my own schedule. although I guess the specials have already been determined and the rest will just be friday night shows.

well anyhow if someone hears conformation bout it - post details please.

also on a side note - it would be cool to see but man that track tears a lot of equipment up. The exits from both turn 2 and turn 4 seems narrow and one lane. I think it is better than it was when it was first redone. but realistically how many could it consistently pull down there? in both sprint classes?

I called Lanny and left a message on his home phone, awaiting his call back.

I'm not speaking for anyone, but I'm guessing quite a few would tow down there most nights. Our family would bring 5. The Barksdales would bring 3. Probably Swift. I'm guessing Robert and Shane since Robert's down there most weekends anyway. Martin Edwards would also probably come up some nights. That's 12 right there. Like I said I haven't talked to any of these people, but it wouldn't be hard to imagine those 12 and 8 more cars coming from the city. And that's not to mention the guys from Lawton that would run with us eventually. To me it's all about racing a different track, getting laps, and having fun. Also, Lawton takes less motor so of course I'm all about it.

Right now we can only race one night a week unless we go down to Dallas, and good luck on trying to get dad to go that far. I do understand why Lanny wouldn't want to do it since the 2 barrels are already pretty established down there and they cost less than we do. I'm not getting my hopes up either because I've talked to Martin on several occasions about it and he said that it would probably never happen. But there's always a chance right?

It pays to be in the know. Back in '86 we pulled in with an inline 6-cyl. mod and did the playday thing. There was one other mod there and just like us he had no wing. The next week we show up and the pits were full of winged v-6 cars! No one mentioned the change to us!

We did find however that the feature could start out with 17 cars on a good night but it would often end up with 5-10 at the end because of reliability issues with v-6s.This gave our slow but steady car an advantage over many. Had we postponed a mule rodeo participation, we would have gotten a top 10 jacket! We still broke even with out being the absolutely slowest car out there.

I think it's a great idea!

Who would pull down here? One thing we can't forget Devils Bowl. So we have Supers that run SFS, Supers that run Devils....I think Lawton would be a great meeting place for in between! Also as another poster said...Lawton guys will move into it also. Come on down & up! I have a thing for wings hehe.

I just wonder if the Super Sprint class would eventually eliminate the Champ Sprints at Lawton , kind of like they did at Da Bowl several years back, All that you need is some to quit the Champs and start running the Super Sprints and upin g the pay for Super Sprints(which I would assume would happen) and those locals down there seeing the better pay to start and to win and really the only difference in the motors is the fueling system and the defections would happen and with only around 15 showing up per week in the Champs last year , would not take long for the class to be done.

Really does not matter to me to what the place runs Supers or Champs, great place to go watch'em beat on each other on and off the track.

Be good for Brill Motor Speedway I would guess?

I bet BMS starts getting an increase in cars in all classes this season, I think Mark is getting this track promotion thing figured out.

Well it's not on the web site anymore, so I'm guessing it was wishful thinking.

I don't think it would hurt OKC at all if Lawton ran them, for instance look at Brill , he gets some Champs that only run at his place and are from around the metro area and not a noticeable difference at SFS on Friday nights of Champ Sprints from what I have witnessed, Hell if anything more guys have went the Super Sprint route.

Bottom line is SFS always will have cars,Its in the largest City in the state as well as the surrounding Metro area of sizeable towns. Besides it starts the racing weekends each and every week throughout the season and you can't forget that mystique thing of running at the Fairgrounds.

Just received a call from Beverly and the super sprints will NOT be a regular fixture at Lawton Speedway.

Guess Cheese is right. One and done!.

Ya know I have always wondered why George Welch at Okla. Sports Park never has tried the Super Sprints on a one time deal, Just to see how it would work, he has had big ASCS shows as well as big Champ Sprint shows. I know it is a gamble but hell are'nt promoters gamblers every week and most every sprint show I have attended at OSP had a great crowd .

Have a deal with his opening race of the season or near the end of the year in the fall, when SFS and Da Bowl are done and I would imagine you would get cars to run from both places, Pay $1500 to win and $200 to start call it the Texoma Championship and let the sand fly, I'm thinkin at least 25 show up to make circles in the sand at the track by the BIG Shed.

Besides George is already on his way to financial freedom by serving tasty Ice Tea at his facility in 2008 (or at least I hope he is going to), George remember that sellout of Ice Tea at the Okla. State Championship on Sept. 22nd, It had to be a Merry Merry Christmas for Mr. Welch with all that money he made off of Ice Tea sales last fall,LOL.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Ada would give most of the young guys some good big track experience. And Larry could quit whining.
