Once again the Ladies of the ORA Booster Club out did themselves at this years ORA Awards Banquet. This years facility was far better than in past years.

The Ladies deserve a lot credit not only for the banquet, but for everything they do thoughout the season.

That's typical, maybe they should donate the "No Show" monies to the Childrens Hospital, the jackets to the homeless, and the Trophies to Devil's Bowl Speedway.

I agree unless its an absolute emergency we should pick a local charity to donate their money to . Maybe that would give everyone an incentive to show up , I know december is a busy month for everyone , But come on whats one Saturday night ?

But on the important stuff CONGRAT'S TO THE BOOSTER CLUB LADIES AND ESPECIALLY MY WIFE SUMER AND THERESA FOR THE AWESOME VIDEO/SLIDESHOW .......

And dont forget to support your booster club because without them everyone that received a check last night would be getting an empty envelope .

winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

What was the total for 2-10 this year? I don't feel the ORA should make people attend the banquet to recieve their top ten money. I did not go this year for the first time in many years. I think its sad the ORA makes people attend 4 meetings to be eligible for the money. The ORA is not a NAZI regime and should not act as such. You may feel strongly about what should happen on many different aspects, but you can not make people do what you want them to do by shoving it down their throats. My attitude would be something like this: that we have such a good organization that people want to come to our meetings and banquet. We have the ear of SFS and they listen to us on many differnt areas. The more people that join the ORA and get invloved the stronger it will become, then when a situation arises, in any class,.then will carry a big stick. Not an attitude of well we will make people do what we want by enacting new rules.

Common Kenny what did you do last nite. Are you giving up on the ORA? The food was good great, good slide show and just seeing people that maybe you hadn't seen in a couple of months. I was really surprised this banquet was 10 times better than last year and didn't expect to get that much point fund check. If the ORA doesn't get the support that it needs it will fold and so will our point money

Damn Butler no one said thats how it's gonna be ....Calm down oldtimer lol !!! I just feel that everyone is takin advantage of SFS , the ORA and the booster club not in a bad way . People just dont really know about the organizations and what they consist of ... some of our board members called many of the outof town cars that race at SFS and many of them did'nt even know about the ORA . They did'nt know that if you dont join that you are inelidgeable for awards such as driver of the month , top ten , perfect attendance ect..... If you are not a member you also dont receive credit for you races at SFS there are many people out there that would have 100 race trophies and 200 race rings if they would have joined every year !!!

We as board members are racers for the racers , we just donate lots of our time to try and get things done , sometimes they dont always go the way we plan , but hey at least we try

All in all what I am saying is next year we need to have a banner year and get as many new members as we can , and all the old ones to return ..

Mike, what I did last night is exactly the point. The ORA can not decide whether what I did last night was a good enough reason for not going, it's none of their business. I'm not giving up on the ORA, just trying to make some suggestions to better the organization. I've been a board member and chair of the board for several years. If the food and building were better, that's a step in the right direction. Now make it better every year and you'll have to find another building to seat all the people that will want to come. Here is what the ORA needs to focus on in my opinon: What is the motivation for a car owner or drive to join that know that they are not going to finish in the top 10? I can look at the entry list in every class and tell who will finish in the top 10, for the most part. There is absolutely no reason for someone who either is going to race part time at SFS or can not make the top ten in points to join. You find a reason for the guys who finish 14-25 in points to join then you increase the membership and everyone benefits.

Talking to the Ditt man the other day. I thought he had a great idea for this point. $25 pit passes for non members and $22 pit passes for members, with more money going to the ORA and to Lanny for the non member pit passes. If Lanny would go for it that would be motivation for anyone to join that is going to race 10 or times at SFS.

It used to be a dollar or two more back in the day if you forgot your card you were just ass out and had to pay the extra buck or two that would be an incentive to buy a membership it would save ya in the long run .. We discussed that at the last board meeting , I was gonna mention that in an earlier post but I thought it would seem like we were forcing people to join ! hmmm

We should take a vote and see if everyone is for it , then vote on it at the next general meeting surely anyone wanting to save a buck would join then !

Shawn, A pit pass incentive is not forcing people to join, its giving them a good reason to join.

Telling people that they can't race at SFS without being a member of the ORA would be an example forcing people to join.

On one hand the ORA is good but on the other hand it sucks. Not the people runnin' it but just the whole idea. I have been around a lot of race tracks and I think it is pretty sad that you HAVE to be a ORA to collect any of the awards. Do the non ORA racers not bring in money to that damn track? Does their pit crew not spend plenty of money at that damn track? Does their fans not spend money at that damn track? You know, it's hard enough for the drivers and fans to even make it to the track with these high ass gas prices. I like Lanny but he is a dictator not a promotor. One year Larry Neighbors won the Track championship but not the Ora. WHAT THE HELL? If he beat them guys then he beat them. I don't understand how a 2nd place racer can win a championship that he didn't deserve. The ORA is a good deal but they are WAY to strict in their mesed up rules and regulations. Just My Opion. No Disrespect intended.frown

25.00 dollars to join ORA and make 4 meetings to get jackets, tropies and point money doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Believe me if there was no ORA we would be getting maybe half the point money alot less jackets and trophies. Try running I-44 Speedway where there is no point money 25.00 pit pass and a 10.00 entry fee. After running I-44 for 4 years and you would learn to appreciate Lanny and the ORA. LOL

Just wondering here, is there a way that the points fund could include the 11-15 in final points IF they are a member of the ORA and competed in 80% of the races?

I'd like to applaud the Booster Club also and the ORA for the things they do that people never see or want to see. For taking the time out of there personal lives to make it better for the racers and fans. At least they are TRYING to make it better for everyone instead of getting on a message board moaning and complaining about everything and/or not joining.

I thought the Banquet was very nice and the facility was much better! I really enjoyed the slide show as well. If i have one complaint it's the PA system. You couldn't hardly hear anything because it was so mumbled. We should improve on that next year.

Appreciate Lanny hell yea I do. I have been to the Bowl or Lawton and Lanny has handed me an extra 50 bucks. There are some things I don't like but when I go to a Lanny run track I know I will get out of there at a decent hour. I am still looking for that perfect promoter. Jack Claxton and Kent Albright have been close. Just keep going to I-44 and I guaretee that Patti and Clyde will screw you one way or another
