The question in my family has been... who gets to 60 wins first. TMAC or Brown? Extremely interesting to think about. Feel free to put your opinion and reasoning out there. If I knew how to make a poll on this I would. It's split between most I talk to.

Interesting question, my bet is TMAC gets a flukey win in the next 2 years and gets to 60 first.

It would be interesting to see the winning pct of the guys on that list. I doubt Steve ran many non outlaw races.

Well certainly lack of races so far hasn't helped my case. Brown was close to winning 7-10 Knoxville races a year the last few years where TMAC is closer to one. Some nights TMAC is on fire though and can't be stopped (see prelim night of the nationals a few years back). And it only takes one flukey win from the front row on a rubber down track to get there. I still think given a normal schedule Brown will get there first but it's interesting to ponder.

Brown is very good at Knoxville. One could probably say that about some PA guys or CA a guys or anywhere, where a local does very well.
However I don't think calling him a one track wonder is fair. He's had 180 plus wins, in his racing career, and yes I would consider him a good ambassador for the sport. There have been other drivers approach him about how to better market themselves to fans and sponsors. He's good with the fans.

Well now I'm curious where the other 130 wins were.

16 of them in the 360s at Knoxville. 46 in the ASCS Warrior region, 26 in the ASCS Midwest region.

A Ambassador, wow really? For real? I agree with Stroker Race. A one track wonder. All the names above him on all time winner list at Knoxville were Outlaw drivers at one time and were on the road racing and WON BIG RACES!. Can you imagine if Wolfie and Dude stayed at Knoxville how many more wins would be added. At Kville Browns the big fish in a small pond. 2 or 3 years ago they barely had enough cars for a feature. Who has been is competition and he should win he has the best of everything. Could you imagine if he ran with the Outlaws he would be out of provisions 3 races ago. He would be a bottom tier 10 place in points or so. Jason Sides would beat him in points. Sides should be Ambassador more than Brown in my Opinion. How about if Brown ran with the Allstars? He would finish 5th or so in points. Yes he is a OK driver as long as he stays at Kville. He's a head case and once he gets passed he gets frustrated. Watch him in the feature. Yes he qualifies great but when its showtime he gets beat up. Hes a cool dude but man he is average at best. Could you imagine if Reutzel ran Knoxville every week. Brownie would be chasing him every race. Take it easy!

Did Brownie turn you down for an autograph at one time? I think Brian has done a pretty damn good job of living a dream which takes a hardcore desire. Most people are not as dedicated as Brownie, he has evolved into professional race car driver through hard work, if it was easy anybody could do it.

Only 410 wins should be counted in these totals. Nobody talks about Nolan Ryan's T-ball and Little League wins!

I agree, and one would be blind not to see the dedication that Brian Brown has. It is not easy to have sponsors for as long as he has his, nor the discipline to be able to determine risk versus reward when racing on your own dime. He has done things his way and he has done them intelligently in order to be able to race on his own terms. We have seen many teams throughout the years that start in a certain region then start traveling every place and then flame out and are no longer around because they did not get the results they needed. I respect and admire Brownie for doing it his way. He could have gone around from owner to owner with his sponsor dollars trying to be on a tour but he decided to start and run his own team from the ground up. People can call him a "one trick pony" all they want but it does not change the fact that he has 50wins at Knoxville and some WoO wins.

"Average at best" is ridiculous. He's damn good.
I kind of compare him to Lance Dewease... content to race near home & kicks ass
Yea, I know.. Brown travels more but DeWease is more dominant at home when he chooses to race

Lets get this stright here. Brown has 5 Outlaw wins. Yes he is goes good at KVille but come on here. How many BIG 410 wins. I'm talking 25,000K or more against the best of the best? I hear crickets here. Dam at least Dewease can beat the best of the best at Big money races in PA. How many National Opens did Dewease win? Quite a few. Yes Lance can go to smaller tracks and win too. Lance is a true Hall of Famer. Hes a Outlaw Slayer in PA. Brown has more practice and laps than anybody at Kville and he still can't get over that hump. Great drivers rise to the top for Big Races. By the way didn't Sammy say "You have to learn how to use the controls at smaller tracks to win" Great statement by a true Legend. Also I guess Kyle Larson does not qualify to be a Ambassador either. Yeah right. He came from nothing and made it happen. Yes he built his team his way and yes he is great with fans. Yes he runs his team the way he wants too. Races where he wants too. Does that qualify him to be a Ambassador too. Man you are stuck on this Brown guy. Yeah hes average but not great. No way. Big wins talk here boys. Like one post said how many 410 wins? Also I'm sure Grandpa George and Uncle Danny were heavily involved in setting up Browns team. Not on Browns own here either gents. I would love to see him run out in Indiana at all the small Bull ring tracks then we can talk. Bottom line here yes hes a good guy but just an average racer. Hey Beezr20 I'm going to let my dog chew on his favorite toy. His Brian Brown helmet. Peace out troops!

Agree completely. The 17 is fast! Austin really deserves a steady ride outside of their own family car. I think it might happen yet. Carson is also fast. Pretty amazing how competitive that entire family is.

Couldn't agree more. No mistake, Knoxville is his bread and butter but he's won against the WoO and some tough competition off the porch. He came to PA and was mixing it up with the Posse pretty much right away. He gave Lance Dewease a run for his money at Port Royal and that isn't an easy thing to do. Lance himself said that Brian made him run way harder than he wanted to.

I don't reply often, but this is about the most ignorant sprint car post I've seen lately. 3-4 years ago or so, during NSL years and before Mr Badlands bought Husets, Knoxville's weekly show was hardly small pond. Its not quite as strong the last couple, but for a couple years you had Brown, Dude, both Madsens, both McCarls, Henderson, Kaeding, Dobmeier, Maeschen, Jeffrey, Heskin, Dollansky, Tatnell, Zomer, Juhl, Selvage... and even guys like Sammy, Wayne Johnson, and Clausen who raced Knoxville more weeks than they didn't.
A year or two on the Outlaw trail and I think Brown would get a lot better. I think it would actually help him fianlly win the Nationals. But he's early 40s now. This point in his career he's probably just going to do what he's done the last 5-6. But he's still a HOFer no doubt and probably the most competitive non-outlaw driver not named Larson anywhere he does show up.

50 wins at Knoxville is quite an accomplishment. My guess his bottom line is better than all but about 5 WOO regulars and they have major sponsors although Caseys would be about the sam as they fielded a WOO team for many years with Gil and Parsons. Not many owner drivers have a bettter resume. Starting near the front is where most Knoxville winners come from although I was at one the best drives ever at Knoxville by Schatz where he came from the back to win.I would rank Brown as a top 20 active driver.
