as I saw the points headin into Clinton - Tate Cole was 1st I think - and Timms and Kenny didn't make all 5 races - so I'm pretty sure Tate Cole won it.

I still think the idea for the OMCS was a great one. Anyone who has complaints needs to go plant themselves at all 5 shows - as good attendance for those races is the only way they could ever really afford to add a good point fund to it. Clinton can't hardly ever get anything in the stands - maybe they should be dropped from the OMCS and replaced by like Ardmore or someone else. Just an idea...........what all tracks do ya'll feel should host the OMCS?

I went and watched Clinton on Saturday, but wife was sick on Sunday. I think a major problem at Clinton is lack of promotion. I live just a couple miles down the road from there and they didn't change the marquee until Friday evening. You ask people who live in Clinton and a lot of them think that the track is permanently closed. It looks like Joe runs it so he can get the write-off on the losses there to lower the taxes to be paid from Altus. It seems that's the way he runs things there. The marquee never changes until the day of (day before if you're lucky) the event. I think its gone to crap since he bought it. When the city owned it (when it was Hub City Speedway) the racing seemed great, granted I was a little kid then. He at leasts runs ads for Altus, even though the website never gets updated. One of the excuses for dropping weekly races at Clinton that I've heard is competition with Elk City on Saturday night. To me, its like what's the big deal? Work something out to run one track Friday and the other Saturday. Yeah, I know they have to get permission from the city (you'll be surprised how far the city limits stretch to the south) but if you can sell the extra dollars and have the right politicians in office, then it shouldn't take too much.

I'm glad that I moved near the track. Nothing so soothing as listening to the races a couple miles away.

Heaven is when you sit down in that seat, strap on
that harness, dial the steering wheel, and flip up
that toggle. When you hear that engine start, nothing
else matters anymore; you're in Heaven.

No I don't think he is very good at it. No - he obviously does not promote- a few years back they had a great car count - and not 1 fan in the stands. So he started chargin ridiculous prices at the back gate to cover his losses at the front. I think there's a ton of reasons why that track is so bad. And it very well could start with lack of promoting.

and the dustbowls so many had to endure out there - they wouldn't even try to keep the dust down. Probably wanted to keep the few so called big name drivers there happy with their advantage on dry slick tracks. What was the track like Sunday?

He seems to do a good job at Altus, but he neglects Clinton. For the couple weeks leading up to the race I was wondering if they had cancelled it since it didn't say anything on the marquee. (Well, it did say "Summer Nationals September 1-2".) And when you put "Races 6pm" on there, it doesn't really garner any attention. Like I said, I've heard people talk that they thought the track was closed.

When the city owned it, the marquee always said something everytime they raced. When he bought it, it always says something about the race 3 months ago. Its like you'd think he'd know to change the marquee the morning after an event to start promoting the next event. Then again, if he is just trying to write off losses...
