Best open wheel dirt racer of his generation. No question. One of the greatest of all time. So versatile, so smooth, so fun to watch. He came to the Lernerville Silver Cup last year and when I found out he was coming was through the roof excited (yeah weird to be excited about seeing a driver I know, but this was BC). Get there early and he's park next to the hauler of the car we sponsor. I sit in the Pit bleachers to watch hot laps / time trials and BC plops down right next to me. I typically leave drivers alone, but I had to say something. So I just said "hey thanks for coming, be safe, bla, bla, bla, good luck on Chasing 200, etc. ..." He was kind, spoke a few words and said thank you. Few weeks later and he was gone. I didn't think the passing of someone I did not know would hit me so hard but it did. He was a freaking superstar to all of us as well as his peers, but never ever in his own mind. He was just a kid from Indiana (well California, but he called Indiana home) who loved to race, period. That will always say more about him as a human being than the mulittude of accolades he garnered on the track. And there were plenty of those. He was just a fantastic human being by all accounts. And you could tell this just by talking a few sentences with him. Legend in every sense of the word, again both as a human being and a racer.
